My mother and I travelled on this beautiful train in May 1983....still newly renovated. It was the most superb experience..

Stephanie, does it seem like yesterday when you took your trip?

I was fortunate to travel on the Venice Simplon Orient Express in the fall of 1987. Exquisite and memorable experience.

This is really beautifully done and is so nostalgic. Since the film was made, Venice has essentially been ruined by cruise ships as huge as Venice itself that lumber into the city making it impossible to breathe and and creating mobs of people who cram the streets. Anything to make more money. Makes me ill!

Great video of the Venice Simplon Orient Express. During my Freshman year of high school I read about the Orient Express, it was the train of Kings & the King of Trains. Later in November 1968 I seen on NBC's Monday Night at the movies a movie called The Istanbul Expresss that stared the late Gene Barry & Senta Berger. All of my long distance travel in the United States is by Amtrak trains and my travel between San Diego, Los Angeles & Oxnard,CA is now by Amtrak's Pacific Surfliners. I enjoy traveling by train, it's the way to travel & the Civilized way to travel. The only flying that I'll be doing in the future will be Trans Pacific flights from Los Angeles to Manila on Philippine airlines.

Bonjour. Merci vous pouvez indiquez le prix du voyage aller et retour par personnes. Un salut depuis Espagne.
@robertcroft82413 жыл бұрын
I am sure you can look it up , BUT remember the old adage, 'If you have to ask the price, you can't afford it'.

Jean Pierre, I've just checked out the price of the London to Istanbul trip. €18,000+ per person one way. Get it as a present, win it in a raffle, win the Lotto or marry a rich widow. I'm looking at the "widow" option unfortunately. Buen viaje! et Bon voyage!

Good lord, the guy talking around the 20 minute mark, who just kept going and going and going and going - I thought he'd never shut up. They really should've had a narrator say all that stuff, he was difficult to understand. Especially if you have some hearing loss. Otherwise, a great video and a most intriguing train!

What a great review of the history of the train and its various routes. If you can't hear, skip it!

If you aren't interested in learning anything, you can always leave. The "guy" is the train manager!

May I ask what the music is at the end when the train is departing?

I've just come across this and decided to try to answer your question. Using the Shazam App I've so far come up with 9 possibilities. Maybe we should get another music identification app?

There not bath or shovers. 😲💔
@mickeencrua3 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't say there are any bathrooms or showers either. The guys in the blue uniforms are the shovers. They shove you onto the train at the beginning and shove you off when the voyage is over. lol.

yes the train offers luxury, but your scenic views leave a lot to be desired, ive seen much better advertising, for trains with the orient inclusion in the name, you spent, more effort, on the destination, than on the trip, if i wanted, the destination, there are a lot cheaper and quicker ways to get there

calling backpackers, itinerants, is hardly on old man, not cricket dont you know, Howard Robard Hughes was often traveling incognito would you call him an itinerant ? if you did, he would buy your company, and personally fire you
@mickeencrua3 жыл бұрын
I didn't reply to your previous post because your comments on the scenery were so crass. Scenery is what it is. It's not stage-managed. It's just there. Howard Hughes travelled as a vagrant, itinerant HOBO. No secret has ever been made of this fact. That was his choice. You paint him as being vindictive. That was never the case.
