I've been thinking about getting the 3D printer going and getting into the Game! With my V-Boat Designs! But what do I know, besides once upon a Time, in a Land Far Far Away (Ross-shire) my Ancestor the War Master of Scotland, the Chief of the Clan soon to be known as the Great Clan Ross, the 1st Earl of Ross Fearchar the Son of the Priest had his own Great Armada of Ross! And his own Great Army of Ross, and wielding his Cousin the Kings Troops laid waste to the Viking Fiefdoms and Yarldoms in and around Scotland! Stealing their Lands and Gold making who would become to be Known as the Ross' the Richest and most Powerful Family in the Highlands for Generations, and 2nd only to the King with our power as the War Masters and Chiefs the Earls of Ross! And my V-BOATs are the next Evolution of Naval Combat! One-day I will Surplant your Rulers, and Rule you all with an Iron Fist!

Trying to work out how you could build 60% by value of a frigate in Saudi Arabia that relies exclusively on foreign weapons and systems. I suppose you could tap their small domestic steel production but after that I am stumped.
@mattblom3990
@mattblom3990 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it seems like the Saudis are insisting on domestic production for nationalistic sake when it makes much more sense to build them all in South Korea.

@@mattblom3990 it because we don’t want to be complete dependent on foreign countries for our military needs. We want to gain some experience on building big ships and aircrafts so that later we would have the ability to design our own.

@@azmolhossain9244 That doesnt achieve 60% by value, unless you have very inefficient construction.

Wondering all this time if Hyundai isn't interested on fully covered bow & raised helideck on frigates. Since they finally introduced one, now wondering why South Korea didn't include those features on their FFX program
@KrMorgan12

Both increases total tons. FFX's diesel electric propulsion, especially electric motor, is vulnerable to weight.
@Andy-zs7bw
@Andy-zs7bw 2 жыл бұрын
@@KrMorgan12 that's really not an issue, it's not like those additional steel are significant anyway, plus there's aluminum as option. And if ever it's steel & significant, then simply picking a more powerful DE in proportion to additional weight

I wonder about something. Why is the VLS cells placed in front of the bridge? If you need to launch several rockets from the VLS celles. Want that cloud the sight from the bridge?

in all honesty. these ships are a real lack of imagination and thus just a mask of pretend warships. even as a frigate you still use old style designs with some nice little treats but can she take a hit and stay alive

Take a lesson from history, the farther forward you push the gun the more you are 'Not wanting to use that gun" and the smaller the calibre just pathetic. Unless ship builders of today know that all future skirmishes will be in calm passive protected water ways. Also call them 'Frigates" all you want, but anything over 10 thousand tons is a destroyer. You don't fool a child with branding a large warship a frigate.

Interesting that there are no American companies. Interesting, the European countries also complain about the same Saudi human rights violations in regards to the war in Yemen. Yet, their companies are allowed to offer products to the Saudis. Guess, they are bigger hypocrites. Usually, they like to blame the American government for the same thing. As for the South Korean frigate design that is based on their Daegu class frigate, it does come with land attack cruose missiles like all new South Korean naval ship deaign. Than again, it looks more like the modified version of the design that was offered to Philippines but with more weapons, especially air defense weapons.

One aspects to missile warfare is substantial cost. For comparisons sake an Arleigh Burke destroyer has 96 missile cells on board with 5-6 different types of missiles totaling 100+ (Some are quad packable in a single cell), While I don't know exact quantities in ratio..... - Tomahawks: $1.2 million a piece - Standard Missile RIM-66m: $2.7 million in 2017 dollars - Standard missile (SM-3, SM-6) theatre defense variant: 9-11 Million dollars - VLASROC: $350,000+ - Evolved Sea Sparrow: $956,000 (2016 dollars) Also Including x8 Harpoon missiles: $1.4 Million each x19 Rolling Airframe missile: $905,000 All in all a single ship carries anywhere from 250-350 million dollars in armament, reloading one is 1/5th price of the DAന ship. The Low Cost Missile (LCM) program; as the Army Space and Missile Defense Command began in 2000; The goal is to integrate existing technologies to produce a missile with a range between 20 kilometers to 150km. The missile is expected to cost around $100,000 per round Missile production costs are due to extraneous materials to withstand g-forces of being fired. MASS production makes things cheaper. Fiberglass pipe is made by thousands of feet a year; producing thousands of feet of missile fuselage. Fiberglass pipes lined with steel/aluminum wire mesh and aluminum fins. Guidance packages adopted from generic GPS hardware. At 173,000 dollars, the Javelin missiles cost more than a Porsche. We now live in a society where it's more expensive to kill someone than pamper them.
@nategraham4027
@nategraham4027 2 жыл бұрын
Even if you want to look at it purely in terms of money, the cost of a missile is generally cheap relative to the cost of its target. That $173k Javelin takes out a tank worth $2 mil. A $2mil NSM can take out a $1B ship.
@spikedpsycho2383

@@nategraham4027 The German Navy could´t fill all launchers for their RBS-15s, and the F-123 class frigates were first equipped with old Exocet missiles from the phased-out FACs and were subsequently upgraded with Harpoons from the out-phased F-122 frigates. In the 1970ies they had a Phoenix-missile test, firing 6 expensivre AIM-54 at random targets at max distance. Someone compared the price of this test to blowing up a whole parking lot of brand new Cadillacs.
