The seven years war, the napoleonic wars and the crimean war are the prequels. Due to major backslash after WW2, plans for the trilogy finale were scaled down to the cold war series. However, there we're attempts to turn the series finale into it's own movie. I think there ist no need to revive the franchise. After all, Hollywood films have become more expensive over the years while the storylines got worse.
