My biggest problem with world line theory is that it doesn't state what happens to a world line once you leave it. Because if the world line doesn't end, then only one person escapes wwiii while everyone else still has to suffer through it

Exactly! I wish the show was more specific on that part

The world line simply ceases to exist. In S;G there is only ONE world line active at a time and the "other worldlines" are just possibilities. Don't think of world lines as parallel universes or alternete worlds, they are just possibilities of what the world could become.

Riot is right. SPOILERS The reason she said not to let Okabe's past self see him is because: 1. They were trying to fake Kurisu's death so that past Okabe would maintain a certain set of experiences and their effects on his psyche because 2. Past Okabe still thinking Kurisu died would lead him to act in the same way as when she had actually died, so that 3. They could minimize the butterfly effect from saving Kurisu and not drastically hop word lines and complicate matters. 4. If past Okabe saw future Okabe there, he would realize something was up and his reading steiner would allow him to remember the encounter. 5. This would cause him to ultimately not follow the same course of action which they were trying to maintain, which would cause a shift in world lines that they were trying to avoid.

I wish people would stop calling worldline jumping time travel. It isn't time travel so to say, its more like dimension hopping. Basically all world lines exist and then by jumping from one point on a worldline to a different point on a different world line to you it would seem like time travel in a way. It could get very confusing quickly and Steins Gate did well to give you a divergence meter, it is interesting. But Worldline theory came from Many worlds interpretation and that is something John Titor had said in his posts. I think its interesting that no one has ever stepped forward to take claim on the Titor Story, with that said its also a little scary how accurate he is even if its shifted by 12 to 15 years due to his divergence estimation. Two percent is a lot of change when it comes to infinity.... just imagine the cascade of change that happens just because you jumped to the past. Molecules move around you so just being even if for a second has shifted that timeline to something new. I often wonder about UFOS and if they are just time travelers. If you go to the past youd want to minimize the cascading divergence, so youd have to never step foot on the planet. However if a couple hundred people saw an UFO it doesnt change much in the way of world events but instead just makes people think someones crazy. Which also is shifting the past but not in drastic ways that will change Chronons or Attraction Fields Events. Fascinating stuff.

One loophole in the grandfather paradox, did you kill him before or after your farther was conceived because if you killed him after your grandma was pregnant with your dad then you can kill him without Marty McFlying yourself out of existence.
@kamronspencer49105 жыл бұрын
Well that only increases the chance of you existing. Killing your grandfather after your father is conceived does leave the possibility of your birth on the table but due to the butterfly effect it’s still entirely possible you wouldn’t be born. Your grandfather dying could make your grandmother have to move to a different area meaning your dad never meets your mom or could make her depressed and or violent changing your dads personality and causing your mother not to like him even though they still meet. Ect.

Reading Steiner is more of Okabe's special ability. So I didn't want to include it because it wasn't completely relevant to the overall topic. Maybe I should have though ^_^
@Shane-zo4mg6 жыл бұрын
Sweevee well the overall topic is dependant on who can experience it. Okabe was the reason the theory could be developed or understood. Not just anyone could time travel in the steinsgate universe until the point where his time machine was developed which is what makes this show so unique to other time travel stories.

Time travel and multiverse theory always sounded silly to me because how are these timelines or multiverses just popping out of nowhere because you did something like killing your grandfather All these theories just want you to assume that multiple timelines are all happening at once, but where's the proof?
@phines84993 жыл бұрын
Actually you can't meet your past self because it never happens. The past is established and can't be changed except for certain things. If the worldline you are on is different and you meet your past self then your past self will eventually meet his past self
@Nullium_MiM2 жыл бұрын
Exactly
@senti30355 жыл бұрын
Well, about time travel and time machine...i believe it can be made possible cz the night sky we see is actually the night sky of 7 million years ago so yea we r kinda viewing the past...and about world lines? Well, the theory of multi-verse approves the idea about how a single event can split into a number of events and that each of it occurs in every other multiverses. Ofc the butterfly effect will work too... So about meeting oneself in the past, it might be impossible bcz that will lead to a time paradox. Putting it simply, in the worldline u visit the past you will continue to exist in the original time line itself and not in the other time line

Yes, and in his worldline Y2K was a major thing, he even commented to people that they dont think its strange that Y2K didnt even have an impact on us. Weird that the IBM 5100 had a strange feature only 20 people at the time had knowledge of, and most of them signed NDA's as it would have killed the marketing for most computers after the 5100. Other interesting Titor statements I find interesting. He said a singular skyscraper was missing in NYC prior to 9/11 He stated civil war broke out because of a "Rigged election" No one liked our generation... (Take a look at any comment section and its no wonder people think ill of this generation.) WW3 would begin with China Russia and US (Look at current events) Spoke of Stephen Hawking changing one of his major theories Asked how people solved their overheating problem on their spaceship... (Challenger incident) Many others but that should start a convo and or rabbit hole.
