World Mountain Running Championships in Argentina are all wrapped up now, what a great weekend of racing and grit by all the athletes from around the world. 38 nations were represented at this year's World Mountain Running Championships, and it was a battle from start to finish by all of the talented runners who put their skills to the test against the mountains of Patagonia. Jim Walmsley, Hayden Hawks, David Sinclair, and Mario Mendoza led the charge for the United States of America at the World Mountain Running Championships. The battle was on with Spain but in the end, the Spaniards pulled out the victory. We will be back for more battles with these incredible mountain runners next year in the Canary Islands at next year's edition of the World Mountain Running Championships. Onward and Upward!

Awesome footage, Seth! QD: The amazing Bill Rodgers allowed me to train with him and live above his running store (and work in the store!) in the summer of 1980. Seth, that was so fun. It was great to get these insider (and informed!) vantage points from a relatively obscure mountain trail race not many can feasibly attend. Thanks for making the effort to plan your spectating, pull out the camera, hustle, and especially to keep track of placements and time gaps. It was a rush to view-actually view!-that race unfold in the span of a few minutes. A hearty congratulations to yourself and the other USA team members for all your hard work down in the land of silver.

QOTD: My dad, an accomplished ultra runner, has been absolutely invaluable in my training and my development as a runner. Not only is he my coach, but he's crewed me numerous times, including my first 100 mile finish last month. Having that kind of support is really what makes this crazy sport worthwhile for me.

I was lucky enough to meet and become good friends with Connie Gardner. She has a resume that speaks for its self. Connie trains with me and my son who I push through races in a running wheelchair. Connie ran with us through our first marathon and talked with my son ( who is 9 years old and has special needs) the whole time. We get to race our first 50k together on Saturday and Connie is the race director. Connie Gardner is a truly special person and has become a part of our family. With Connies help we my son and I will be going for the 24 hour push team mileage record next year. None of this would be possible with out Connie Gardner’s kindness and willingness to help others. Go USA!!!

I was fortunate enough to get invited to train with a satellite coaching program of the Australian Institute of Sport in my early to mid 20s. My coach, Geoff Walker, was a Steeple chaser and 10000m runner who had run at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics with the great Ron Clark (look him up, he broke 18 world records in the 1960s). Geoff was a really good coach, as he was sensitive to our issues and would send us home from the track if he thought we were on the edge of injury from over training. I now coach my 19 yr old son, trying to pass on to him the same strategies that Geoff used with me 35 years ago. My son is starting to get it, having just broken his HM by over 6 minutes, just 10 weeks after running his first HM. Next goal, a medal at the Victorian Country Championships in the Open 10000m. He's starting to trust my translation of the Geoff Walker method.

Its such a shame that family members can care less about their own. I have the same issue except that I'm not married and truly no one gives a crap about it. But that won't stop me from running as much as I can and hopefully as soon as we step out of this pandemic I can start traveling to participate in as many events as possible. If my family won't support me then I'll find my own running family. Cheers!

This one’s special, Seth! Funny the chairlift cost you a chance to catch the photo finish but seeing that descent was remarkable. See ya back in the states 🇺🇸

QD: my wife definitely. She motivates me every day to be a better person and a better runner. She is a grinder and I try to be just like her in my running. AMY SAUTTER your a beast of a runner and I love it!!

Do you guys talk about what encourages each other in the middle of the race? For instance, do Hayden and Jim and others prefer the "you're doing great" kind of encouragement? What about the camera? Does that bother them or do they like it? Just curious if you had to get their permission or preferences before hand as a courtesy or part of the team dynamic. How does that work? GREAT WORK!! Thanks for doing such a great job.

Stupid to run two marathons prior to rsce.scuppered your chances before you ran.as an experienced runner you probably knew that.you should have let someone run in your place who cares about team events. Sorry but true

Great coverage Seth! Thank you. QD My fellow run bud Sheila. We have trained and run many of the same races. Sharing our runs gives motivation but she is also encouraging spiritually as well in my life.

My high school coach kickstarted it in an amazing fashion! I didn’t begin until I was 16. My first year my 5k time was around 24mins. But my second year I was up to 18 minutes! I even made it to NY states in 2019 as an alternate 😄 I know I didn’t run in the states competition but just being there was an accomplishment on its own!
