They actually fixed the Pikmin glitch with spirits, so you no longer deal disproportionate damage/launching with them. What you saw was just the normal overpowering of spirits you get with any character now, which is why it took you a few hits to kill, like with most characters.

A tactic I eventually used in a second playthrough of World of Light was to just equip Madama Butterfly, since it gives poison heal and ZSS pretty much cannot kill you at all.

Everyone falls for it but you also have to beat Dharkon and Gaaleem separatedly in the final battle for the 100% to count. Besides the other spirits that is, just in case someone beat em all and don't get the 100%.
