He races the car very hard every time he is on the track. Other guys in the race seem not to race as hard when he races, they seem to race harder when he is not r a cing with them. back in the late 90's & early '00's my cousins worked on the 2F car out of Pleasanton (if anyone remembers that team), i would go to every race near Kansas City that i could get to. i loved going to Pevely! back in those days it seemed like a lot of tracks wouldn't have the racing surface prepared for the horsepower of the Gumout & Outlaw cars having a finish how you qualified 1 line event. never at the I-55 speedway! teams had to setup the cars to be able to run anywhere from the top to the bottom, & let the talent of the driver be the key to success! man i miss those days ✌️🐝➕

I remember that car. Brad Furr was the driver. It was dark red and sponsored by Sanmina. I think he won a WoO race at Port Royal one year in the early 2000’s.
@A_Bone19722 ай бұрын
@@michaelehrhart9042 yup, that'd be the car alright. RF, Brad's dad, owned Sanmina (a computer chip company). i remember that Brad & Donny kind of had a little extra competitive edge competing against each other as Donny's dad owned (or worked in a senior position) Blue Max Transport which was obviously Donny's main sponsor for his car. he had a son that he named Freddy Danger Furr. up to the 2nd to last year that he ran the older of my 2 cousins (he's actually the same age as me) was his crew chief. he left the team before the last year Brad ran. which left my younger cousin as the crew chief. the last time they ran Pevely, Brad was leading by almost half of the track around just after 3/4 of the race when a red flag event occurred. much to our dismay while sitting there at idle, we watched the engine throw a rod followed by oil & flames. that happened way too frequently that season. my cousin was at his wits end, ready to quit before the season ended. just before the historical big one & the nationals, the engine builder, Don Ott, finally quit trying to blame my cousin for all of the issues, because he finally took my cousin's complaints, as well as accepted the evidence of every engine rebuild, about how the fatal flaw was from the same rod each & every time. the guy finally realized that he had a flaw in his crank shaft design that has been the culprit for the entire season! i can't remember how many races that i went to where Brad was running top 5 or even leading when it happened, or reading about on dirt digest, or even my cousin telling me that it had happened again. my cousin had designed a new hood with a large air intake just as the top of the hood tapered down from the top that he had made for the track in Lincoln, Alabama that he didn't try out due to the perceived risk of engine failure. so, he tried it out in Eldora during the outlaw event the night before the historical big one. that engine with the extra air regularly hit 10k rpm during that race! before the feature, every time Brad came into the pits my cousin had to grab the wing & stand on the left side of Brad's seat to push it back tight because of how hard Brad would jump up the track going over the dip just after turn 1 as you entered turn 2. he took it off & went back to the regular hood after that! it seemed like half of the team's were trying to get my cousin to work for them after that night as well. at the end of that season Brad decided to stay in California, & he opened up & ran a tire shop. my elder cousin took a job with Brown & Miller Racing Solutions before that last year. he still works for them. my younger cousin after that year took a job offer to manage what became the chasis shop for the Red Bull NASCAR program. he did that job for the entire length of the program before Red Bull decided to pull out of NASCAR. ✌️🐝😘

@@michaelehrhart9042 you know, now that i think about it, i think Meyers passed Brad on the last lap of that Point Roral race (i think?). always kind of felt that Brad got screwed out of 2002 WoO Rookie of the Year. something to do with running too many outlaw events the year before while running the WoO gum out series full time or something like that... honestly, i can't remember who got RotY in '02. gonna have to google that, & see if i can find out. i remember in both series that he & Meyers were both out of California traveling together a lot & kept going back & forth between each other in the points standings. ✌️🐝➕
