You will be more influential with an E75 or ST-I, period. You can't reliably carry with the Conqueror- tier 7s will pen you with relative ease. The gun is no replacement for a complete and utter lack of armor with critical modules in your hull. You can play as a support "heavy" and snipe, but you can't be aggressive 1 on 1 without trading health. You need good teamwork to make this tank shine and that isn't something you can always depend on.

There was actually a "Heavy Conqueror" that loaded up masses of spaced armour on the hull. I'd like that to go in as a new tier 10 instead of the FV215b HT, but a historically accurate Conqueror would be epic too!

The problem I always had with the Conqueror is what I've come to call Early Gun Syndrome. This is - essentially - when you get a gun that appears on two tanks, and is the 'best' gun on the earlier tier tank. The 120mm Rifled gun that the Conqueror gets is the exact same one that's on the FV215b, and yet on the Conqueror, I had some *major* issues with the RNG. I'd be bouncing shots that shouldn't, missing at least half of my shots that were fully aimed on an immobile target while aiming at center-of-mass...and yet on the FV, I'd land about 80% of my shots. I had the same thing with the long 88mm gun on the Panther II versus the E-50. On the Panther II, it's not bad, and yet on the E-50, it seemed to be more accurate, and have better penetration RNG values.

I just took a look at the stats for the conq. vs the fv215, and there is a reason for what you described, being that the aim time on the fv215 for the same gun is 1.7 seconds vs the 1.9 on the conq, as well as the gun handling soft stats (dispersion on turret, suspension, and hull movement) are on average better on the FV215. This is probably also the case on the panther II vs the E-50, though I have yet to check.

Gun seems pretty much the same to me. Major issue is the complete lack of any armour. The FV215b at least can bounce with the turret, you can forget all about it on the Conq. It will get shot to shit all the time by anything, any bounce is extreme luck on your side or complete incompetence by the enemy player.

Dex4Sure It wouldn't bother me if the side armor could bounce shots when angled, I've been in situations where I try to side scrape around a corner and I've been pend by a tier 7 heavy and mediums. All the British tanks get is an awesome gun that's all.

The Conqueor now has realy good turret armour and ok hull armour.And the stock gun is now a 32pdr with crazy DPM, but low alpha and penetration for tier IX.The gun depresion was buffed from -7° to -10°.But the DPM of 120mm is worst.And it's mobility is a little bit worst

It's a shame you have to grind through with a medium tank gun, a gun that has no place on a heavy tank. If anything this tank should start with the 20pdr B barrel then it's second gun should be a down graded version of the centurion 7/1 gun(105mm L7) with maybe like 235mm pen instead of the 260mm+ it has, then move on to last gun that being the 120mm L1 gun.

What's with the British Heavies being so underpowered? I'm at the end of my Caernarvon and it's pissing me off that the Tier 9 gun you get is complete Bull. I'm really considering if I'm gonna stop playing the Brit Heavy line and go into the German heavy line instead.

Super KameHameHa I loved the the caernarvon but I like fast accurate high pen guns. The conquer is a good tank but there is a learning curve I hated it. I was comparing it to my st1 which is a beast of a tank. I also couldnt do good in conq. All of a sudden though ive been dominating it. Dam near picked up 6k damage in it last night.

That 130mm frontal armour is also sloped at 60 degrees which doubles the effective thickness to 260mm. Nothing to scoff at there.

Here's a tip for the conqurer grind; use the stock turret until you unlock the 120 it makes it so much nicer

The gun is great (If RNG doesn't hate you.) but the rest is just mediocre to bad imo. If you get the chance to snipe on El Haluf and it doesn't make your side's heavy tanks get overrun within two minutes up north, then sure, you can snipe and really put it to good work, but that's so extremely situational. It has no armor (For its tier) anywhere except the mantlet area just around the gun. A Tiger I will pen your UFP 50% of the time and everywhere on your turret like 80% of the time. That's a tier VII.. The thing is huge and has horrible side and rear armor making you a prime arty target, so you basically always need to think in terms of arty cover, which leads to boring cliff or house hugging in a lot of situations. Then there's the main issue. The map sizes and designs. What do you do on Himmelsdorf for example? I get that map like 40% of the time these days. Go hide in a corner with arty trying to snipe enemies coming up the rail tracks? Go up the hill and hug the castle thing and hope the enemies come to you, so you don't need to show your weak spot (the entire tank)? What about Severogorsk with the corridors? Of course you'll get a good game even on those maps once in a while, but I wouldn't count on it. The maps are too small and badly designed.. Especially for tanks like the Conq. :( The tank isn't bad, but it's made for a more realistic game than WoT, where ranges are greater and where you won't simply get overrun half the battles when your team completely fails. It's a much later tank design than things like E75 but on the tiny close quarters battles, it's not nearly as good in most situations, because there's no difference between materials in WoT. Russian pig iron is just as protective as later materials, so the better tanks actually seem worse, because they figured out how to protect a tank without 300 mm of iron at the front. For the small maps in WoT the gun just doesn't make up for everything else imo. It's just too damn situational and always being the prime arty targets will often completely dictate your game choices for you, which gets old pretty damn fast. The M103 is a better all rounder imo. Better armor everywhere and the gun is still good. Not AS good for long range engagements, but there's so few of those in WoT anyway unless you just camp in spawn every battle and then you can't really blame anyone else for the losses you will get. That goes for all spawn campers.. Conq included. I get so frustrated with the unarmored British meds and heavies. The guns are great, but the complete lack of armor combined with their massive sizes make them very hard to carry in reliably, since you can be taken out by scouts without a problem. If you bounce nothing, even bad players will damage you. No real aiming required.

Stabs are always good for firing without aiming much. 1.9 is godly, but sometimes you need to fire a tad bit faster. But optics are a really good option too imo. It's basically the same situation as on the T110E5.

QB, in your latest stream with Jingles and Ectar when you shot at the fv215b cupola with IS-7, you mentioned you can pen the cupola on the Conqueror all the time. But I think they have buffed the cupola on both fv215b and Conqueror because I bounced all shots on the Conqueror with a 258 pen gun as well.

Technically no but you can go back to your garage and pick a new tank to take out and once the first tank's battle is done you can take that tank out again. So if you think about it you do have respawn it just takes till the end of the battle.

In the game though, different turrets can change reload aim times, and accuracy. Also for some unknown reason, even if you have researched a module that spans 2 different countries tanks, you have to research it again :(

Essentially, it's a shot that is incredibly hard to pull off or often comes at the precise time it's needed to nail a win or turn the tide. Or even just a very impressive bit of accuracy, like QB nailing the IS-8 in quite spectacular fashion. I always do admire his modesty in calling them out. I know so many youtubers who'll scream OMG CLUTCH SHOT on any kill they get. Qb's a lot more reserved to only say it when it really is one. That's why I stick with him for WoT. :p

I would say both have their ups and downs. Conq at least has some frontal armor, that can bounce sometimes and it has better gun stats imo: better rof and aiming time with slightly worse acc. The 7/1s 105mm feels a bit slow :/. But I agree the mobility is a bigger bonus and I prefer the 7/1 instead of the Conq in 9/10 situations because of it.

WG really didn't do their research on this tank. The frontal armour is 180mm, not 130mm like in the game... Furthermore, it was known (like the Churchill) to have exceptional rough terrain traverse and hill climbing due to high torque British engines mixed with great track length and catch ratios. Unfortunately WG has, again, neglected to do their research to discover these facts that define British tank design.

the conq used 120mm L1A1, not the L11, the L11 in its several forms was used in chieftain and chally 1 M58 and L1A1 are the same gun.

I think the downside with this tank is its easy to ammo rack (at least when I played it), its too damn big and its really slow so its quite an east arty target if there's no cover. Probably one of the biggest tanks in the game. Its very very close to E100 size comparing it in the garage.

Maybe it's a dumb comparison but in my opinion the centurion mk. 7 is a tank superior to this one. Granted, one is a medium and the other is a heavy but their roles are quite similar and centurion's superior mobility makes it much better for the long range damage dealing role as you can relocate to where the enemies are much quicker.

I'm not a huge fan of the Conqueror, it's an M103 without the armor and a slightly better gun. The big problem I found with the Conq is that while you are very good when you are shooting at the enemy and they're not shooting back, you really lose out when they point a gun at you. Considering the thin armor and propensity for module damage, it's a very scary proposition to go up against Tier IX and X arty with this thing, and very easy to be one shot with a direct hit on anything but the front.

My Carnaevron really made me sad when I got it, It plays completely opposite to the Black Prince which I loved the style of. I guess this tank much like the Carnaevron should be played like a Sniper/Camp role?

The game is only historical about the models. Everything other than that is "balancing". I would be fine if they gave it back it's 180mm of front armor and made it a second tier 10 heavy. But an example of balancing: Artillery didn't usually take 30 seconds to fire, but it does in game, but aiming did take longer because they couldn't see where it would fall, they needed to do calculations. Also, a majority of the arty would have much more armor because they are medium/ heavy tank hulls.

@9:30 With that is3 being hull down he still could have taken a shot at "hatch" at the top of is3 tower. Its 50 mm on stock tower and laughable 20 mm on upgraded tower.

Technically he didn't even need to hit the copula. There is a large strip of metal on the IS-3 turret roof from the gun mantlet back that is only 30mm thick. with a 120mm shell you can overmatch it at any angle and penetrate. He still would of needed to be lucky to land the shot at that distance, but when the entire roof is a weakspot....IS-4 turret has the same. I abuse these overmatch weakpoints in pretty much every tank in my E-100. That 235 pen of the 15cm is a lot more than you need when the target has 50mm or less of armor in a large area, even angled at 179 degrees you only need about 100 pen to go through with 3x the calibur. Knowledge is power.

tigerhawk84 Yes that's the part I was referring to. Tank Viewer says it's 20 mm on is-3 and 30 mm on is-4. I also aim there whenever I can. And it always penetrates cause of x3 overmatch.

If you're looking for historical accuracy, go to War Thunder. Unfortunately, they have yet to release tanks in the game. They have released a few screenshots of the tanks, however, so we know they are coming. Wargaming will start with general historical accuracy, then balance it for it's assigned tier. Honestly, most tanks could very, very easily be 1 or even 2 tiers lower or higher, Wargaming just needs to buff or nerf them. That's how they work, balance.

Hello I never usually comment on things but I thought I should share my thoughts here. I think it would be a good idea to upgrade to the gun and NOT get the top engine as you would automatically unlock the engine when you unlock the Tier 10 tank, that way you can save xp for other things and get the engine essentially for free. But that's just my recommendation as I'm happy enough with the previous top engine. With all the speculation coming along saying the FV is being replaced by the Chieftain I thing it would be good to unlock it now, because the FV will become a premium tier 8 tank, if you unlocked it already you could have a premium tier 8 plus the tier 10 for free as well.

no they didn't, the conq had a tank gun L11 with a L/55 bore and m103 had the m58 with L/60 bore, both 120mm though :-)

WG's first point on the list is balancing the tanks. if a tank is imbalanced, they do their best to balance it, be it that they need to change the tank from how it was IRL.
