You should only use 75 long gun because being able to penetrate is far more important than having a large alpha but can't penetrate anything.

+mrcannotfindaname You mean the L70
@init1008 жыл бұрын
I completely agree. If I had been grinding the JgPz IV today, I would definitely use the 75mm L70 gun. Sadly, I played this TD three years ago when I was a newbie, so I struggled with the joke known as the 88mm L56 gun.
@thesabreferret8 жыл бұрын
I spent a while switching between them, but settled on the 88. You have to get used to having to use your stealth to get squishy targets in your sights, and once you master that, the higher DPM is more important than being able to get a few more shots penning in other situations. I can see why other people would stick to the 75 though...

I have 3 masteries in my Jagdpanzer IV. The trick is to not use that shitty 88mm gun, use the L/70 75mm with a 110% loader and gun rammer and the thing becomes a poor-mans E25. It can reload in 3 seconds! I love the Jgdpz IV! :)

Benching Bull you can carry games, but the 88 is incredibly bouncy. It would depend on the tier that you're on, the L/56 88 is never going to penetrate an IS3 from the front at any range, or the side at long range. And IS3s, are common as all hell because, you know, Stalin.
@janwitkowsky878710 жыл бұрын
Was looking for that comment. With rammer, 100% crew and vents the RoF of the L/70 is so fast. Plus the better ammo capacity and better pen and better accuracy makes it more likely to keep the theoretical DPM.

The Jagdpanzer 4 is probably one of the comfortable tanks i've ever driven, once its fully upgraded, that is. I had problems dealing against enemy tanks at the front with the 88 but using the speed and the damage of the gun to get around the flanks of the enemy and it's heaven. I was eating heavy tanks on the same tier or higher like the russian is-3. This tank should be played as a support td not a frontliner like the su-100. You're the one who takes off the tracks of the enemy and give them the "shake" so that they're distracted, hopefully giving your team mates the initiative on pushing forward. Sorry to the folks who hated it. The more you hate the more you love. in my case, this thing rings true.

Well.. to me it's the best German TD. Why? Because it's quick and very stealthy, it allows you to do some very nasty shot at the beginning phase of the game from a long distance on enemies positioning - 2 to 5 hits are normal - and usually at the side of moving enemies, so most of them go through. You don't have to relocate, you're shooting from so far away, they're not looking in your direction, they won't spot you. Something e.g. the JPanther just can't do. That's 400-1000 damage. Then you start relocating, shoot once, immediately relocate. Don't try head on, you won't penetrate. If some scout comes along, stay hidden and let him pass and then, this thing turns fast, kill him from behind. Immediate pen, usually you get two shots and someone kills the scout with you. Take your time, put a hit or a spot here and them, stay alive and help your team mates. Game phase three, this thing does something the StuG just can't do. Play as a front line tank. Mostly, you still have 600 HP left, you're fast, stealthy, and a lot of your enemies will only have 200-400 HP left. So they're one to two shots. Go assault - and keep the gun aimed shortly above the ground before you and stay in low positions. If an enemy pops up, it's accurate enough without stopping or aiming to just shoot at 100m - 90% of the time you'll hit the lower plate with thin armor and go through. You might catch a bullet, but your second will come and kill him before he can give you a second shot. Easy to get 2, 3 kills here again. My favourite tank in the whole game. Don't have any clue why people hate it so much... guess it's playing style. And for all the fun it gives you an average 5000-10000 credits per game without premium.

★ ww2sniper555 ★ i guess so... especially the matchmaking makes a huge difference of course. mostly you have tier 6-7 battles and the thing is a killer. of course, tier 8 is already a challenge and 9 almost impossible, so with the old matchmaking..... well... :)
@SiphonRayzar9 жыл бұрын
+tuber976 The main reason why people hate it is because of the mediocre guns it gets for its tier. Yeah, a high DPM is good, but only when you can pen and damage what you're shooting at. And unlike the other Tier 6 TDs, it doesn't have any real massive advantages over them, the Hellcat (and even the Jackson) are way faster, and have turrets, with better guns, the ARL v39 is probable worse overall, but it has great guns, same for the Churchill GC, the SU-100 has a massive alpha damage gun, and the AT8 can take and give punishment far better than the Jagpanzer IV. Not saying its absolute garbage, but compared to the Stug III and the Jagpanther, its worse off tier for tier.

When you say matchmaking is bad...hell...try the Xbox Edition. Tier 8 tanks almost always get into 9 and 10 matches. It's disgusting trying to do stock grinds like my Pershing when Death Stars and T110E5 tanks are killing me. At tier 7, you would get in a tier 9 maybe 1 or 2/10 times. Tier 8, maybe 4 or 5/10 times, and you are top tier about 3/10 times. That goes to tier 8....where you get tier 10 4-5/10 times, tier 9 2-3/10 times, and you are top tier probably 1 or 2 times at most. Even at top tier the Pershing stock sucks. It's a major struggle.

Ph4nt0m It really depends on playstyle. JgPz IV can be used either as a sniper, like StuG and then you should use the 75mm because you're gonna be shooting at the fronts of tanks, but the tank is mobile and stealthy enough to be used as a flanker, and in that case the 88mm gun is quite a lot better.

3 years later, and this thing is still absolute shit. Still has terrible penetration, but to make matters worse there are quite a few popular tanks released since 2013 in tiers 6-8 that have armor you simply cannot defeat, even using APCR, or will easily one-shot you. I just finished grinding through this rubbish vehicle, and I think I am missing a few patches of hair after pulling it out in frustration. Especially memorable was bouncing an APCR round off the flat rear armor of a stationary tier 8 heavy at point blank range. I am going be hearing the announcer yelling that my shots didn't penetrate in my sleep, and I seriously worry that I now have such penetration anxiety I may not be able to perform next time I have the chance to get laid. Had I known this tank would be so ridiculously bad, I would have paid gold to skip it completely on my way down the German TD line. I suspect Wargaming hasn't fixed this POS tank for exactly that reason, and possibly as a way to sell premium ammo, cause you sure as hell won't be able to use silver and run this thing with APCR while saving up that huge chunk of cash you need to buy the next TD in the German line. And the final crowning chunk of steaming excrement on this pile of garbage that is this tank's "best" gun: Just like Jingles suspects I found the accuracy to be completely trollish. I missed fully aimed shots consistently that I thought impossible to miss. .34 accuracy my pale, pockmarked ass. Please, PLEASE whatever you do, save yourself a possible stroke or mental breakdown and avoid this thing like the plague.

@mcchuggernaut93788 жыл бұрын
Well, I'm glad you got some enjoyment out of it because laughing about how bad this tank's gun is will be about all the fun you can have with it. Even better: I bought the Jagdpanther (the next German TD in the line) before I also had the XP to buy it's third gun as well. Because I was in such a hurry to get away from the Jagdpanzer IV. Just so happens that it's second gun is the exact same beyond worthless gun mounted on the Jagdpanzer IV. I immediately sold the Jagdpanzer IV only to find this out, so I had to grind that [insert foul expletive] gun on my new Jagdpanther for days before getting the XP I needed to upgrade. This meant I was now encountering tier 9 tanks with the same gun I had trouble penetrating tier 5 tanks with. I believe myself to be sane and commenting on a WoT video, but it's entirely possible this experience has driven me completely batty and I am in an asylum somewhere babbling incoherently to myself whilst scribbling on the wall of a padded room with my own feces.
@afoxinaviators41058 жыл бұрын
I don't think it's THAT bad... I mean it's pretty terrible, but to be honest, the earlier German TD line is nothing but a joy, other nation's TD lines up until about that really suck. It's kind of a trade-off.
@fireshorts57898 жыл бұрын
I ended up rage selling the Jagdpanther because I did the same thing and had to grind out the experience for the long 88 with the short one, while getting tier 9 matches. Still haven't bought it back yet, gonna just grind the experience for that gun on the Nashorn since its a tier lower, making the short 88 a lot more manageable. I'd highly recommend that to anyone that hasn't researched the Jagdpanther AND the long 88 yet.
@mcchuggernaut93788 жыл бұрын
You know Marshall, your right about a lot of country's TDs not being that great at lower tiers, but that isn't really a factor here. While not great, almost all of them can still at least reliably pen what they hit, and you are often facing less skilled opponents at lower tiers. The M3 Lee is abysmal down at tier 4, probably the worst tank in the game, but as you go up in tier power creep starts to set in and having a bad gun and poor armor gets to be more and more of a liability. MOST other TDs up to this point from any country can still pen reliably a tier or two higher than themselves, provided you may have to sprinkle a little gold in from time to time. But since the Jagdpanzer 4 already has pen problems at it's own tier, you get the perfect shitstorm in higher tier matches. Your useless in a tier 8 match. A crappy tier 8 light tank can drive up and sit still in front of you, bounce all your shots, wreck your ass, and drive off laughing. That's why it's so bad.
@jackgirote91326 жыл бұрын
I love this tank. You have to play it like the stugg. Its a sniper, hide in a bush and lay down the fire. I cant pen frontal armour on tier 7 and 8's but, get on the flanks and you can pen anything. In the current build of the game (patch 9.2) the Jagdpanzer 4 is great even in a tier 7 match with the gun from the STUG III. the 75 mm works well at most ranges, is accurate enough to hit weak spots, and more importantly, with a good crew, can be reloaded faster than the 88. so far I've had a decent experience with the Jagdpanzer 4.

True. If you ask me he should have used the 75mm gun. It has the same length as the Panther's gun which did quite well historically, and would certainly penetrate a damn KV-1 in the game. So if the 75mm isn't a fucked up gun compared to its real version like the 88, get it.

Right, got this tank yesterday. Started playing it and did the 4k xp grind (On the bottom tier 75mm, I assure you, that IS a grind) for the tracks. At which point, I mounted the 75mm top gun from the StuG, the usable radio and the top engine. Now: I love it. Literally just played a game where I got 6 kills (Top gun medal), sniper medal and, to my delight, a De Langlade's medal and ace tanker! Sure, the guns aren't as good as a Nashorn's (In my eyes), but it truly is one sneaky little bugger. Camo net, medium calibre gun rammer and a close to 100% crew (Retrained from the StuG, I'm not a gold noob :P ), I can pump out a round every 3.3 seconds with the 7,5cm Pak 42 L/70 (150mm avg. pen, 135 avg. damage) - close to the rate of fire of the E-25. As of yet, I don't have the 88mm, but I doubt I'll be using it. To conclude, I think that this tank has a bad reputation that it truly doesn't deserve. Anyone not already sold by Jingles, I assure you. This tank is VERY good, even if it does have low damage. It makes a very good sniper that can easily relocate. This thing SHREDS anything at or below its tier (KV-1S' are food for this thing; you can take a hit from a KV-1s and finish him off before he reloads)
@eddiemac2410 жыл бұрын

I loved watching you shoot that D-BAG! I'd say 1 in 20 games makes me remark favorably on a sudden and unexpected meshing of teamwork. It's a good feeling, and makes the game worth playing. As for the historical accuracy? It's totally screwed... Tanks with fearsome reputations in real-life totally nerfed, and tanks never meant to fight each other doing battle constantly. That said, I am looking forward to the "historical battles!"
@ultraesgrima11 жыл бұрын
There are two solutions to the tracks problem: the first one is to grind free xp in advance and unlock the tracks right away, the second to buy the enhanced suspension. The third option is to use the tank stock, and I wouldn't recommend it even to my worst enemy. The good part? Once you have the tracks you have the tank almost elited, since you inherit everything from the Stug but the 88mm. Hope Jingles hears us and someday do a second review with the 75, because it's a totally different tank :)

Use the 75 mm on this thing. Much more reliable

It also depends on the crew and the battlefield. At short ranges, the German tanks lose a lot of their advantages. They are easier to be flanked towards the weak side armor, and the massive advantage their long range guns had is lost. At close range, it becomes a lot easier. For example, on Himmelsdorf a long time ago I acually managed to almost kill a KT in my T1 heavy, because I got behind it(and a bunch of TDs were around the corner in front of it). It's a game example, but you get the point.

I ground most of the EXP on this tank using the 8,8cm gun, and it can get the job done. 900 average damage per game isn't bad for a player of my caliber. The rate of fire and alpha can rip through tier 6 and under tanks pretty quickly. Tier 7 heavy tanks and tier 8 tanks in general will require you to be more sneaky. Some people will tell you to play like a medium because it has a gun that's more fitting of a medium tank. I agree with this thought. It's not as fast as some of the equal-tier medium, and lacks turret, but the camo rating on this TD can allow you to sneak into positions and remain undetected in unusually aggressive positions normal taken by sniping mediums. It just won't do the normal 'engage at long range' or 'derp 'em in the face' TD/assault gun business.
@Reirtig5610 жыл бұрын
I honestly don't have problems with my flat panzer, you can normal penetrate a tier 8 even with the low penetration, I just aim for the neck of the turret and the lower plate, does around 250 damage every time. I don't ever have problems with the gun not performing. Also you can normally withstand around 5 shots at the front from tier 6 and above before you die
@waltheryap673810 жыл бұрын
Well, it's great, at least for now in 9.4. The 88mm allows me to so 2k+ dmg in tier 8 games just by sniping instead of assaulting.

I really liked this machine, dont remember what gun I used but I think the main difference was I played it very agressive, so the range didnt matter that much. Had ace tanker on it and was one of my favs, off course when I moved to the jgpanther it became obsolete, Im up to the jgtiger now and still keeping the jPaanther (and ofc the ferdinand)

The final brawl with the Jagdtiger 88 made me laugh my ass off. I wonder how did the Jagdtiger 88 player feel once he suddenly found himself getting 'hugged' by Jagdpanzer IV. :D
@Vnx11 жыл бұрын
I use the 75mm on this as well. It's not an ideal solution, the damage is lacking and the rate of fire can give your position away, but it's workable. The people who favor the 88 on this tend to play as more of a roving flanker than a stealthy sniper.

The account used in this video is WoT_1_2, a World of Tanks press account, meaning that every single tank implemented in the game, minus a few tanks for some reason, is in the garage of that account, along with a ton of credits and gold. And a year-long premium account.
@ultraesgrima11 жыл бұрын
Jingles, you HAVE to try the JagdPz IV with the 75mm gun, it looks counterintuitive but it isn't. You got better accuracy, better penetration and buffed rate of fire, with gun rammer and vents you can shoot every 3.29 sec, with BiA even faster, just like an autoloader with no end. I stopped playing this tank because of what it can be seen in your video, even in good games you bounce, bounce, bounce and bounce again. But I gave it a second chance with the 75 and I'm enjoying it a lot. Nice job ;)

Pretty nice coincidence, your gunner's named 'Zorn', which means anger! I probably wouldn't have shot him, but I also never experienced the pain of driving a Panzerjäger IV!
@LukewMorgan11 жыл бұрын
Bino's aren't "permanent", so you can freely move it between tanks. Other pieces of equipment though such as the gun rammers cost 10 gold to dismount from a tank. The equipment item will warn you when you buy it if it requires Gold to dismount.

Good videos man, thanks.As far as the Marder goes I still like it, even with all the nerfs I still get good games with it.

The top gun on the tiger, and the one it historically used and everyone so rightly feared, was the 88 KwK 43 L/71. Both guns shoot the same round, but the gun on the Tiger has a longer barrel, and as a navy man, I'm sure you understand the ramifications of the length of barrel on a gun. Now in game, the Tiger does actually get that same gun as a step up to Long 88. Whether that's historical or not, or if that's just something the game designers did to force more playtime into the game idk.
@IonoTheFanatics11 жыл бұрын
VK3601 has it in a fully traversing turret, significantly improving it's usability especially against tanks in which you have to fire the 88mm on the flank to penetrate at all. the turret also makes it much easier to track mobile targets which will often be the only target you can penetrate with the short 88mm when all the slow or static ones are too heavily armored and facing you. normally non turreted TD are given better gun than normal to compensate this, JPIV sadly does not have it.

It really is a highlight of my day to check YT and find another Jingles tank review. Have you done any Chinese armour yet?
@AtemiRaven11 жыл бұрын
AT-2 can bounce a shot due to the 200 or so MM of armor. So it is a bit safer if you keep your front pointed. The Jagd PZ however will never bounce a shot from the 122 unless he hits a hardcap (over 70 degrees) angling and gets a bounce.
@dunfalach11 жыл бұрын
I hated the JP4 throughout most of my use of it, until right near the end of my grind I started using it like a derping medium...slinking around corners to pop a close range blast into the side/rear of enemies engaged with something else, then backing around the corner before they could return fire. Based on the way it operates, I think they gave it an excessively fast bleed-off of its pen over range. At very close range, it's a beast, yet it becomes completely unreliable at medium range.
@niklaseriksson33437 жыл бұрын
I played this tank with the Stug III gun. Just because of the lack of penetration on the 88mm gun. You don't get the alpha damage but on the other hand it is better to do some damage than none.

I have this tank, I love it so much, I don't know why it's hated, I don't normally bounce unless I don't aim... And the gun is usually very good to me and very accurate... Hatch of an AT-7? Hit, hit, and another hit. And the DPM is sooo good...
@ILikeTheThingsIDo11 жыл бұрын
Sometimes I simplify things a bit. 500 character limits don't help. The PaK 43 was a stationary version of the L/71 and that's the point I was making. You'd want to aim for weakspots at long ranges. Also at long ranges, if the KV-1 was properly angled, it wouldn't penetrate. The thing is, most Russian tank crews were inexperienced and poorly trained while the Germans had both experience and training. That's where it got it's reputation, from shooting at people who didn't know better.
@Rhodiebert8511 жыл бұрын
Hey. I remember mostly using the 7,5 cm L70 gun on this TD. On the Jgd Pz 4 it fires even faster than on the StugIII and with the extra accuracy and penetration I felt like doing more demage than with the mediocore 88mm.

Sometimes i really like the Jagdpanzer IV. Just had a Tier 7game with it and got mastery badge an 2'184 xp :)
@MrAstrojensen11 жыл бұрын
Damn straight! The JgPzIV is a stunningly good machine! That 88mm gun is super awesome! I've got an average 68% hit ratio on it. In some games, it's better than 90% hit ratio! Long range? No problem! The "new" JgPzIV is as good as the StuG III, just with a bigger gun!

After the 88mm got a pen buff, using the 75mm L70 is basically redundant. Only 5mm pen difference.

I find that the this tank is like the M3 Lee, but with better guns, better armor, and a better profile, which is enough to make it decent.
@hummellv66488 жыл бұрын
It's actually quite good. Idk if i am doing it right, but i use the stealth of the machine to get close to the enemy and while they are distracted shooting at my teammates or in rare occasions yelling at everyone for either shooting gold at them or hacking, i just park close to them and make them shoot the gun mantlet which, according to tank inspector, is about 200mm of armor. Got 2 marks of excellence on my Jg.Pz.IV doing so. The M3 Lee... well, last time i played with it, it felt like trying to drive a giant toaster made out of plastic with a potato gun mounted on it, tho i might give it another try

Thank you for the Marder II sympathy Jingles. Although, I've found that the 7.5cm r (the last gun for it) is fairly good in a tier 3 game.

I used the 8.8 on the JagdPz. IV for a while, got frustrated with it and switched to the 10.5 and HE ammo. You will be able to damage tanks from the front again and you will be able to put even Tier 7 heavy tanks in a world of hurt if you get them from the rear. So I personally would recommend switching to HE and the 105mm before using permium ammo on the crappy 88mm
@sigma7420510 жыл бұрын
Watched this video while playing my Jagdpanzer IV. Ended up getting Poole's, Kolobanov, Invader, Defender, Spartan, Top Gun and Devestator.... Given my prior (lack of) performance with this tank, I think I'll be watching more of these videos while playing bad tank.

Related to the guns the JP4 can carry, I've decided to try it out with the 105 howitzer w/HEAT, and scumbag it up. If it works better than the 88 L/56 I will be surprised and upset.
