World of Tanks- Just How Hard Could It Be?

In my experience, the matchmaking and RNG for players returning after a hiatus is absolutely brutal. I used to be a slightly above average player. I used to have fun. Now, each click of the "Battle" button is a triumph of hope over experience. My team seems unable to spot the enemy, I only get infrequent, fleeting chances to even fire, the team is curb stomped, and, despite the absolutely pathetic results of my game play, I am in the top half of the team for earned experience. I play 8-12 matches a year and almost never play two matches in the same session. The matches are that heartbreaking. The frustrating thing is that I have the ultimate World of Tanks bling tank (the Type 59G, which is a Type 59 with gold plating), but cannot bring myself to play it, as I will just suck. The rumor is that WoT adjusts RNG and matchmaking based on how often you play and how likely you are to keep playing. However, it also ends up punishing the player returning after a long hiatus. I have tried playing the lowest tiers, but then I am waiting three or more minutes on the queue for a match that seldom lasts more than five, so I just give up and go back to WoWS.

I think that it is called story mode. You are in an M4A3 and try to accomplish a series of goals.

agreed.... it's no fun getting your face torn off.... you just can't compete with the veterans and there is no co-op mode to go enjoy... I love world war 2 tanks and yet, can't find any joy in playing that game in Random Battles... I don't last long enough and then you have to deal with toxic chatter on top of it... it's why I've invested thousands of hours and dollars into WoW instead...

@@chbolani The only toxic chatter in Tanks is from your own team...they disabled cross-team chat, unlike Warships. They should disable it in Warships, too...your own team should not be giving the enemy any intel.

I remember (at least the ps4 version) having something similar, like a story mode where you played an alt history of the invasion of Britain or just the defense of Stalingrad or a Ussr city. I've checked and the ps4 mode docent have it anymore :(

I started out in WoT but WG constantly made poor design decisions to the point that the game was no longer fun for me so I moved on to WoWS. WG is doing to WoWS what they did to WoT and are pushing the game in a bad direction. If they keep making such poor design decisions I may walk away entirely which is a shame as I loved WoWS the first couple of years. I see so many businesses fall into this same trap. They are so worried about chasing a dollar that they sabotage their own product and in the end lose business. Its all so short sighted.

WoT on EU server (especially VIII and up) is just unplayable unless you're high skilled sweatlord. Players got like 40-50k battles, blindfire bushes, know each and every good firing position at every map, and angle their armor so you cannot do anything. It was fun in 2015, but now it's just frustrating, 'cause average player cannot get damage.

Sometimes it's just luck and RNG playing for or against you. I was in my S1 in Fisherman's bay, typical Sniper position in the south + left side. and just at the start of the battle, just for doing something, I shot at one bush randomly... I ammoracked an Emil II... don't ask me how. O.O

@@ubiergo1978 that's example of luck. But what about moments when you playing LT and spotting for the team and don't fire. And then opponent driving around at prokhorovka, got spotted by me, got his lightbulb and almost instantly turn hisgun and blindfires bush where I'm sit. This is a pure skill, and it ruins game for casual player like me. That's why I don't play WoT for 3 years, but enjoy less competitive WoWs.

3:10 don't grind for Tiger ! It's a same mistake people do as grinding 1st thing Bismark in WoW. Both got amazing history cult but are average at best in game. Tiger could be great but for experienced player. You want reliable heavy tank line (and generally any line) that is newcomer friendly - go for ZSRR.

You can bypass buying the tracks for almost every tank. Go to modules and equip the “improved hardening”

I got my 13 year decals this year. Yay. Honestly though, I play maybe 10 matches in six months for the past couple of years. I'm sick of the cash grabs and all the made up crap that's just to introduced to powercreep existing tanks to try to force me into the new meta all the cool kids and sweaty chads go with to statpad.

Every so often I play WoT. It reminds me of how good we have it in WoWS. Gold ammo spam is the worst. Last time I played, I was in my Leopard 1, and had people flinging gold ammo at me. Umm, the armor is thinner than most light tanks. Wish overpens was a thing in WoT. LOL I remember going for the Tiger and Tiger II. I also remember the anti-German bias WG had back then and both tanks were very underwhelming.

Played WoT since the closed beta, experience the fun period of the game, KV with the 152 or 107 at tier 5 or when arty was literally 1 shot death stars from across the map. There was a time when gold ammo could only be bought with gold and not credits so it was only really seen during clan matches. I remember when the type 59 was released and they were so OP everyone bought one, including myself. Then they made gold ammo purchasable with silver credits and you slowly started to see the decline of the game being fun. Before gold ammo was prevalent, you had to know where the weak spots on enemy tanks were, you couldn’t just use your precious gold ammo because you had to use your hard earned gold to buy it, so you hoarded it for clan matches. Once they started releasing fantasy tech tree lines for the Chinese, Swedish, Czech, I knew the game was done for me. Not to mention the arty rework that completely destroyed how that class of tanks worked, kinda like the CV rework. Left the game with a rating of unicum, knowing I gave it my best.

Equipment is like upgrades. Equipment for lower tier tanks is cheaper than for higher tier tanks. I have equipment for all vehicles regardless of tier. Tier 5 is the seal clubber level because they wont see tier 8. I'd say equipment is worth it on every tank you like and are going to play more than just a few games. With out it you are gimping your self. Once you hit 5 years of service you get all the well deserved reward tanks; even from years past. That's probably what gave you all the new premium tanks. Probably best not to go above tier 5 unless/until you feel ready for it. It takes awhile to learn how aggressive you can be and when you can go where on which maps at what time. Camping snipers and sky cancer is waiting. Cheers.

I used to play WoT a lot, I got most of tier Xs and knew the game pretty well. Than I moved to WoWS few years ago and this year right after christmas I decided to try WoT again and man... The direction of the game's development is a mess compared to WoWS 😄Especially on lower tiers I was so dissapointed. After all WG in still one company but these two games have so different enviroment. WoWS seems like an old friendly buddy to me now 😆

I tried WOT @6 months ago. I'm not really a gamer. I play WoWS, that's it. So no idea what anything meant in WOT - poor instructions - very little tutelage. No idea what I was supposed to do with crew upgrades, tanks, anything - there are 1,000 symbols all over the screen with no instructions on what they mean or what to do with them. All I knew to do was point & shoot. Gave up naturally. Guess I'm too dumb to play it, lol. Oh well.

Power creep has invaded higher tiers. There are so many mega high alpha damage tanks at tier 8 now. I suppose it's to help them compete with plus two match making. :(

Also they have gold ammo which is pay to win espacialy at higher tiers you can spam gold shells its pay to win in a bad way. I like what they have but higher tier and people that have gold shells , it gives them big advantage to the piont of pay to win.

Playing wot makes me wish it was run as well as wows. You get so much stuff to grind for free in wows, in wot u got bonds and thats it. They take quite a while to get and bond tanks are just a bunch of old premiums. In wows coal ships are mostly good, steel ships are cool too. Wot team needs to learn from the wows team in terms of monetization.

I haven't played nearly as much WoT as WoWS, but it seems to me like WoWS is a lot simpler to understand. It's also (somehow) less toxic.

For tanks I prefer war thunder.And for planes as well.Although I do well in the naval part of war thunder I prefer WoWs.War thunder also need to change the UI it can be quite too much to deal with and after an update it gets set to default and now I do not play because I would have to spend hours reconfiguring bindings.I give up it is way to involved to get things working the way you need.Too many controls that even exceeded the amount of a keyboard and you need to bind them to others sometimes.

I'm always thinking about trying WoT again. But I'm terrible at it. War Thunder is more to my liking. And when I have time to play games, I choose WoWs bc I'm actually decent at it. Getting wrecked in WoT is just rough.

If u don't know the game mechanics its easy to call ppl cheaters and the "gold" ammo thing is funny as fuck cus if u dont know where to aim you can't pen with gold ammo.
