I checked out all the other classes and their runes and Paladin got the greatest ones in my opinion. It’s just the fact that this class finally gets all the imprtant abilities that it’s been lacking in classic. I‘m a prot main and I am really hyped for tanking in SoD.

Seal of Martyrdom will imo be better than Divine Storm for AoE and Single Target if we are able to seal twist, if the seal twisting mechanic is removed entirely then i bet Divine Storm will be used in every scenario. Pray for seal twisting to be a thing.

I’m not sure we will even have the GCDs to twist. It kinda made sense in tbc since you didn’t have any buttons to press. I think with all the buffs including wind fury it’s possible that martyrdom is better (divine storm won’t benefit from windfury). But if the trash is super quick then DS will just be better. Sustained trash I think martyrdom pulls ahead esp since it grants mana.

Is there any way to see the range and cooldown on the rune abilities, and if they are on GCD? Also, curious to hear how useful Rebuke will be for getting a heal off in PvP… only two second lockout isn’t enough time to cast FoL, UNLESS it’s off the GCD.

Since there’s no ptr unless you tested at Blizzcon there’s no way to know. But agree if it’s 2s and that’s on gcd that’s not super useful.

I keep hearing this misrepresentation of abilities as stated on the tooltip... I feel it's mainly from those who have progressed into Wrath. Divine Storm does not heal raid members, it heals party members (your group only). Avenger's Shield normally requires a shield to be equipped and in TBC had a cast time, I don't see this requirement but if it exists it won't be used by Ret.

True it is likely requiring a shield and in 5/10 man situations which will be a lot of SoD divine storm will still heal half/all of the group. Still strong.

How do you see Ret in PvP?

I think I already replied to you, but to circle back, it's impossible to say right now because of all the runes of other classes. Obviously Ret is getting much better with runes, but so is every single other class. So I won't pretend to know what the PVP meta looks like, but it will be fun to find out!

Divine storm, crusader strike and rebuke will be good. But looking at what the other classes get (warlock/mages) Ret pvp is still playing catch up

Blizzard is going to cause an even bigger faction imbalance with how broken ret paladins are going to be why would i roll horde and play enhance when i can destroy everyone on a ret paladin with crusader strike and divine storm.......HUGE faction imbalance inc. if nothing is done ill be playing a ret paladin in sod and play alliance for the first time in classic wow.
