I've been playing War Thunder for about three years now, have invested a lot of time in it and I think I can say I'm an above average player. I most likely will continue playing WT exclusively but I have to say, I'm happy that WoP is improving. Because not only will people who like it even more arcady than WT AB have something to play but now there also will be some more pressure on Gaijin. Because now there is at least some sort of competition, they'll have to keep tweaking WT to keep it competitive which only means we players get a better game...

Not just that, but it's great for the flightsim community as a whole. Too many games are pure sim with no UI or even objectives, or pure arcade where you do whatever you want and fire infinite missiles at anything that moves. We need more games skirting the middle ground, and WT is more on the Sim side than a lot of people are comfortable with. WoWp looks to be the same distance on the arcade direction.

I agree with you. I'd been playing WT for several years (I still remember the old 20-tier tech trees) and as a WoWp CB player I believe I can compare these two games quite unbiased. In WT I prefer Realistic Battles, yet I've spent long time in Arcade as well. I had to quit WoWp due to a patch that came along with a horrendous optimization which made me completely unable to play with more than 12-15 FPS. After a while I found WT and since then WoWp was dead for me. I've played WT since then but few months ago I had enough of the Gaijin's "FU all" policy. That's why I hope WoWp's resurrection will force Gaijin to get their sh@t together and recall their original goals. I'll give this game a try and who knows, maybe I'll like it as I liked it back in CB. However WT is still my #1, it's just on hold for now. But that doesn't neccessarly mean WoWp is (going to be) worse. It's just different and there's (probably and hopefully) no reason for not playing both of the games... :)

WoWP is a good place to start BEFORE you pick up WT. The scaling is smaller but the aircraft performance is similar (i.e. Fw-190s and T-bolts fly like bricks; Spitfires and A6Ms turn circles around you). Plus it helps you learn basic tactics instead of rushing in and getting shot down by a gaggle of fighters.

Guys I love War Thunder too, probably more than most, but we shouldn't bash this game just because it exists or because it's in an arcade style. Actually as a direct result of that choice, War Thunder has nothing to worry about. This is a different game for different people. It looks very good for what it's trying to be and I'm glad Wargaming took the time to fix it even if I never play it. I hope they continue to support its development and that people enjoy it. To each their own.

At first glance, I'd say you're right, WoWP has a decent shot here. I'm not a fan of health bars, or AB in general on WT (it does have shortcomings but I'm not an elitist calling it crap, I just don't like the mode much), but I am a fan of bombers, and the better variation of ground targets looks pretty good to me. WT's implementation of "strategic" bombing is awful (on a tactical-level map, drop X tons of bombs on static unchanging zones until it's dead; boring). Tactical bombing isn't great either; Most soft targets don't contribute to the win, Pillbox bombing can be dodgy, and Tank targets use the far harsher damage models from the Ground forces mode, which doesn't really fit the larger Air modes. This looks like they might actually be making more types of bombing worthwhile.

The majority of people complaining here are completely missing the point with this game. "hurr durr WarThunder is so much better" and "look how unrealistic the planes act"; you forget this is a pure arcade game, Jingles even said it in the video. Sure, a lot of people are comparing the arcade mode in War Thunder to this game, and I can understand why you would think War Thunder is better. But they are two very different games with to very different outlooks on what their games should be. As a vet War Thunder player, I appreciate Jingles taking the time to do a video on this because now a lot of people who might be super interested in planes now have a game that can introduce them fairly easily into aircraft games and all that.

Well and them listening to their customers, helps a little bit too ;) They have actually managed to give light tanks purpose again. I am enjoying the new daily "missions" you can do in your tanks. Since I am a light/scout tank driver by choice, and Wargamming had pretty much ruined my reason to play (until recently), I took a nice long 4 month break from the game. SO glad I am able to play the game I have spent hundreds of dollars on over the last 5+ years... :)

WoWP seems like it's been modified to be WT's arcade mode, but made a bit more arcade in a good way. WT is an amazing game in realistic/simulator mode, but I personally feel like it utterly drops the ball for arcade, and honestly, I might give WoWP a fair try again, I was an alpha tester after all.

Having played WT for a while in all modes, both ground and air, the only difference is that you can or can't see the enemy in different modes. Flambass It would seem that WarGaming is REALLY stepping up their Game(s) as it were! Between the current WOT Sandbox which is F'ING GORGEOUS, World of Warships adding in more and more DX11 features, and now THIS! I sucked terribly on the Sandbox server, I am too damned busy gawking at the BEAUTY of it all, and checking out all tue new effects, while also watching my frame rates! And I SWEAR that Sandox WOT runs even BETTER than the current Live WOT, I play at 2560x1440 and in standard WOT I see abkut 122 FPS average, with the Sandbox client, I am closer to 138! I gotta say, I did NOT see this one coming! I thought WG had basically abandoned WOWP, but now? I NEED to try it again! Whatever WG did with their engine, it looks FULLY AAA, and runs BETTER THAN EVER! And for this, I applaud WarGaming immensely! Can't wait to check out WOWP 2.0, but I am currently busy with WOT SB!

Hey Jingles, I was thinking about sending you a message about a month or two ago to let you know that this update was on the horizon. I go to a University where I'm studying game design and Wargamming likes to send their products to our campus to have them tested. This update happened to be one of them and I remember being very excited when I left the test because I was so impressed with how much fun I had playing it. It is a far departure from the state of the game previously and by comparison far superior. I'm glad to see that you agree! The way I see it, WT and WOWp CANNOT be compared together. Same as ground battles in WT can't be compared to WOT. They are different kinds of games. I love WT AND WOT, I play war thunder when I want a bit more realism to the game, but when I get tired of shitty pilot snipes, horrid grinds, too many plane choices (Yes, I fucking hate how many variations of the same plane there are, especially where there are pretty much NO differences, maybe a few kph faster), I think I'll go to WOWp. There is nothing wrong with wanting realism, and there is nothing wrong with liking arcadey feels. Now, WOT isn't as arcadey as people think, armor is a thing. The only issue I have is a penetrating shot does damage even if the round went through the thin armor nowhere near anything important (A machinegun plate on top of the turret! THERE'S NOTHING THERE!) But with Warthunder, I hate the sluggishness to the tanks, I hate how precise you have to be sometimes, it just gets annoying occasionally. Yes, sometimes I want the game to hold my hand, so what? I don't have to GIVE A FUCK ABOUT YOUR OPINIONS! "Git gud bru", I am good. I have fun when I have fun, occasionally I want to have fun a different way. So, everyone SHUT THE FUCK UP! Neither game is better nor worse than the other because THEY ARE TWO DIFFERENT FUCKING GAMES!! What are ya gonna do next? Compare COD to ArmA?!

I've been playing this game quite a lot recently, and I'm glad you changed your opinion about it Jingles. I do however have to say that unfortunately it was not too surprising that you ended on top twice by personal points earned. If you look at the names of both teams you will find that both teams almost entirely consisted of bots. You can also tell by the 'plus' sign after each name being non-clickable. This means that in the first game there were only four actual players on both teams, and in the second game, sadly, only one player per team. Sorry to spoil the fun Jingles.

Jingles, i went on their site, and read about the conquest mode, as usual, you made a bit of a mess: The experience you get is actually represented by the "medal" icon and number, which in Conquest are called "Mastery Points" and they seem to be converted directly into experinece, are awareded mainly for completing objectives or taking down enemy aircraft, or achieving certain events(like setting an enemy on fire, getting a critical hit etc). The "lightning" icon is for "combat points" which are earned mostly by damaging enemy aircraft and ground targets, capturing points etc and they are related to credits.. i have no idea why they came up with other titles for experience and credits(on the results screen, as XP and credits are still XP and credits in the hanger) but WG i guess

Thanks for the review jingles. Maybe I'll give this game another try. As an alpha player I was horrified at the controls and how I had to fight my own plane more than the enemy just to shoot anything. Came back every now and then after release to see if things changed and was still left disappointed. I look forward to seeing soon how it is now

I beta tested WoWP back in its original instalment. this looks so much better then it did back then. The devs did have a good control set for a while, then they decided to make the controls over simplified, and that made it feel like a mouse curser chaser. so from this video I will be giving it a second chance. thanks Jingles

Ummmm Jingles... If you look at all the names on both results screens, it looks like many of them in the first battle, and most in the second battle, are simple, capitalised names with no weird characters. I think they're Bots. There are obviously human players in the first game, with all sorts of random spellings, but the majority are computer players. Explains why you got the best score despite not knowing what to do and why your team lost both times.

First match was 3 vs. 4 human players, second one was 1 vs. 1, all the rest were bots. You can identify human players after the battle in the team list as they have this usable + button to the right of their name (I think it's to add them to your contact list). We'll see if this is because it's the first day of the new patch and if WoWP attracts more people in the next days or weeks.

The keyboard / mouse was better than the joystick but I think I could get the stick to work better with practice. I had to adjust the keyboard commands to match War Thunder (which I also only play w/mouse & keyboard) and I was able to make the changes and they worked. The old World of Warplanes was not like that. GG

also, there is no target lead. wargaming doesn't use target lead indicators, because that's too easy. instead, you zoom in, calculate where to aim based on how fast it's going, and fire there, and adjust based on the damage you are doing, just like world of warships, but a million times faster.

Ok, I'm not going to say it's bad. Because it's not. It's done exactly what it needs to. And I'd like to take a minute to point out that War Thunder is exactly the opposite of World of Warplanes. War Thunder arcade is utter crap. It's just the most cancerous and just all round weird game mode because War Thunders engine is absolutely gobsmacking. Nothing so far has or atm will come close to its ability. It's suited so well to RB, it's manages to combine the blend of a vast majority of major controls on an aircraft in your hands. Multitude of Flaps, gear, cockpit opening, cockpit lighting, camouflages, throttle control, engine management, fuel amount and his it affects the aircraft's handling characteristics. and the list goes on. Flight models are also something that War Thunder nailed so well. Yes there have been discrepancies and borderline butchered FM's but overall they are fantastic. The Damage of the aircraft is also so realistic yet somewhat Controllable given the circumstance of your aircraft and how critical it is. You then have to add some competence to land a crippled plane. Manual input to keep it in the air. Landing is also a realistic prospect pilots faced and it's done very well. This all combined with the feeling of flying. Real plane in a wonderful looking g game graphically, it's got all the bells and whistles. However, the arcade is horrific. It's trying to be something it's not. Filling someone else's shoes. Those shoes belong to World of Warplanes and they've been filling these shoes while Watching sought out to correct it's flaws. And by the look of it the have. See, World of Warplanes could never house a Realistic game mode. It's 1, not got the type of game engine for that, 2, it's based around an arcade game objective, like it's brethrens World if Tanks and World of Warships which accomplish that VERY well. 3, it's revolved around hit points, which WT isn't. So for people to break the norm of WT arcade, it's difficult, but I believe once it's out for a while, people play it, it will refill the shoes WT has been trying to wear for the past 4/5 years. Finally it's found its place to call home. Just correct what was, and it's already 1 million times better than the cancer WT put together in arcade mode. Being a RB & SIM player, I can't really comment. So don't take this to heart. Just my thoughts. Input from people who play WT arcade would be great, World of Warplanes players too. And before you hate spam at me for saying WT arcade is shit, plz, try to be civilised.

Most realistic thing in WT planes i love is - when you as an spaa KILL plane and that plane still able to stear-use machineguns and before crashing in to ground DROP FUCKING BOMBS..... gayjin nailed that part of reality. Cant imagine hows that possible when aircraft takes mulitple HE shots in to cockpit and or base of plane/explode in to few pieces and still act as a live plane. Then tanks should be able to shoot even after they get killed...no? Anyways, as much as i like how WT manage to make that game, but anything else is just booring grind with new tank models doing same and nothing new or special. Where higher you go, less armor does anything as everyone 1shot everyone.

I did play WoWp a lot before WG has messed up the matchmaking. I got fed up waiting 15 minutes for 1vs1 game and I've stopped playing, but I was trying the game now and then to see if there's any progress. From my perspective, neither the graphics nor the plane handling has changed much. The graphics might be slightly better, but I am (and was) playing on various hardware, thus I never paid too much attention to graphics. Plane handling... well, it feels the same as it always felt - planes react the way I expect them to react: I-15 turns on a spot, while my beloved Tsh-2 takes a week to change the direction (yes, I do have higher tiers, but I somehow love causing havoc in Tsh-2). What I do like is disappearance of those lead-in markers. The 1st person view is pretty awesome. The sound effects feel better. I miss some sort of artificial horizon (is that the right term?). The new game mods are confusing, but I believe it's just a question of getting used to them. In general - I do like this new WoWp, but following the progress for a few years, I am not overexcited as Jingles is :) It is good, but it wasn't that bad as he thinks, at least not recently :) BTW: I do know WT. I've played it (both tanks and planes), and never liked it, I always considered WT as inferior to WoT and WoWp.

One thing that War gaming seems to just do better then War Thunder is they reward you for playing good even if your team doesn't win. If you way out play every person in the match on either team then you deserve the most experience and silver lions even if you don't win. This is because in a team game I have been in matches (in War Thunder) where I get 7 kills and there are only 2 other players on my team with a kill.

As much as much as I have come to hate WG and Gaijian. This is very very interesting. I will never play any of their games again. If I want to play thanks, I'll go play steel beasts Pro, if I want flight, you got DCS, IL 2, and Lock on. However I believe personally, that the fact that WG is making world of warplanes and continuing to make it better, is going to make the War Thunder Deb get off their ass and realize they're going to start losing even more players. Which as Jingles has always said, means they will start working harder. Nobody wanted Modern tanks right now when it's impossible for most players to even get to the sub modern Cold War Tanks. We wanted ships something to compete on the same level as wargaming. So my hat is off to you or wargaming, I will never reinstall your games at this point. However you are helping the industry by creating Fierce competition, while not as beautiful or realistic, maybe that's enough to get War Thunder players to say, screw this I'm going to go over to the other game. It's about time! Thanks Jingles. I was a beta tester on the game and haven't played in almost 2 years. Alot of input we gave during testing was ignored unless it was about bugs and glitches. Hopefully now we have the kind of game we wanted back then. I guess it's time to go find out! World of warplanes here I come.

I think the one big gripe I had with World of warplanes is the control delay. There was quite a delay between moving the mouse and the plane actually doing anything. I played it once, looked up online how to fix it and then played it again. I gave up then because there wasn't a way to fix it. Some people say they had it others didn't. I can't see my self hopping back into it because I enjoy playing tanks in War Thunder, Haven't really put any serious time into aircraft games for a while now but glad to see it's gotten a re-do.

I don't care how realistic a game is, tbh War Thunder is so realistic that it's frustrating to play. No game manages to make me frustrated in every match and as fast as war thunder does. You fly around, shoot down a few guys after a bit of a struggle. A Russian plane comes from one side and oneshots you without a chance to react. I don't care how realistic it is, it's unhealthy for the game itself. I don't know if World of warplanes does a better job there but from what I see in this video it very much could be doing a better job. Don't get me wrong, I like lots of things in War Thunder. Having a few holes in the wing and trying to land on an airfield for repairs only to realize that at landing speed there is not enough lift on the damaged wing gets me like nothing else. However if that is paired with frustration in every game even in the arcade mode it's just broken, imho. Don't get me wrong, I love racing simulations, proper racing simulations like rfactor 2 so I can appreciate realism if it comes in the right outfit. Like the developers of BF1 said in a press conference: We want to make it as realistic as possible but for balance we need to add fantasy into our games otherwise there are no automatic weapons and everyone plays the same gun. And that's what should happen. When the game has an arcade mode already why would anyone keep the part that is realistic but overshadowing the fun in the game with frustration? Please don't try to argue with me. This is my opinion that I built after about 100h of War Thunder. After uninstalling the game waiting some time and reinstalling it again. And I always come to this conclusion and I know other people that think the same. So you really won't change anything if you argue with me that what I just said isn't true. Because it is true, for me at least it is true.

Hello Jingles! thanks for the video and good news.. My primary reason for uninstalling the game was too often people tended to kill you simply by crashes into you !! I had very few nice duels. in average a game was lasting less than 1 minute. Bottomline I don't know if this is going to change cause.. you can't design players 2.0 (with a lower degree of stupidity). therefore I don't think I will go back to the game.

I treat WoWP as a training course for WT Air Battles. The altitude scaling isn't right but it gives you more than enough ideas about what those prop planes could and couldn't do. Especially fighter planes.

Not too bad, this can actually break WT... not in the sense that it's that much better. BUT, the one thing WT AB has going for it is that it'S pretty realistic even for an arcade plane game... mostly due to the fact that the basic physics are soft sim ready (as WT has an integrated soft sim with it'S SIM mode). WoWP being playable and a good game (from the looks of it) might be an actual competition to WT AB. And this is the problem, Gaijin would have to focus more on AB, the mode where realism is irrelevant. And all this talk of the WT AB fanboys about WT being superior because it'S more realistic, need to know that pandering to the AB portion of WT kills the realism. WT AB is never going to be realistic WoWP isn't either but WoWP has no ties more realistic modes they can be as wacky and fun as they want to be. WT AB can't without changing physics of all modes (AB/RB/SB share most of the game functions) and you will lose the RB and especially SB crowd. Also the AB players acting like WT is better because of the realism are the same acting against that realism in favor of their arcade playstyle over the RB/SB crowd... kinda hypocritical. For example the Rocket nerf was a direct result to have realistic outcomes of rocket attacks with mouse aim in RB/AB instead of realistic behaviour of rockets wich would result in realistic rocket attacks in SB... where the realism really counts. So no AB/RB players want the game to feel realistic not to be realistic... but they aren't actually into realism, and WoWP is able to afford the liberties WT AB can't. And when the AB players realize they never actually wanted realism wich deep down they might even already know as there is a "gameplay>realism" and "it's just a game" trend in WT. WoWP might have it's rework at the exact right time.

good lecture but still some faults. wt AB mode is pretty good despite it has realistic ballistics: you're having fun with intense dogfights, ground attaking, bombing, with killing a bomber or killing a plane with gunners. RB mode is still well balanced + you earn 2.6 times more XP and SL than in AB mode. usually I play RB, but sometimes arcade. I have never played air sim(except some single missions) cs it takes lot of time, also you have to control your plane with realistic controls, but this thing is familiar to me because of air RB. while wowp is in BETA everyone is having fun, because everthing is paked with enjoyable ground attaks and nice explosion effects, but when there will be more players than bots the game will become boring, maybe at high tiers it will be ok, but everyone starts a game woth low tiers and when they see all of this they will just give up. also don't forget that the reason why 80% of players play aircraft game is dogfighting, which isn't in wowp. the game will die again and that will be THE final death. and I don't understand what you mean in rocket realistic aiming, because everything is fine and the nerf was made because of the game balance.

The first day I played this game, I started out 11-0. No deaths. The cockpit felt like it was made for me, lol. I didn't know if 11-0 was good or not, but some pilots started asking how is it I have zero deaths. The secret(s) to this game and others like it is persistence & patience. When you're behind another pilot trying to shoot him down, just keep them ahead of you and just keep at it. Believe it or not, approx. 70% of pilots will actually give up and let you shoot them down after 3 minutes, give or take. When someone is behind you, trying to shoot you down, it's the same thing. All you have to do is turn sharp left, right, up, down etc. I have found a whopping 90% of pilots will give up on you after only 2 minutes of trying to shoot you down. They have ZERO patience. So, behind a pilot, just keep at them and you will get that kill most definitely within 5 minutes, most of the time, within 2 minutes. When someone is behind you--that's MUCH easier because the gamer behind you DOES.NOT have the patience to keep at you, wear you down, and make that kill. Also, MANY pilots make the mistake of hiding in the clouds to get away from you. That move is a guaranteed shoot down for me! This is the first technique I mastered with the game. There's ALWAYS pilots going into clouds! Stay high, watch for them, and swoop down onto them --I can't tell you how many have said they never saw me. Also, watch the TV Series "Dogfights." Play close attention when they put the animations up along with the arrows of how a pilot did "this" or "that" roll to get behind, on top, etc. of the enemy. Start with one technique that they show and practice it within the game. You will soon build up maybe half a dozen moves, and probably more depending. Then, as you go, you'll downsize to 2-5 techniques you like the most and those moves will be the way you bring your enemies DOWN DOwn down. If you see me in the game, with this name, I do invite you to TRY and shoot me down, lol.
