Hey Jingles, Jeff here. Thank you so much for showcasing my replay! I've been watching you since 2019, and it's surreal to finally be on the other end! Some fun facts about the battle: 1. This was my first random battle in the Mackensen. I'd previously run A-sym to get a handle for her, but this was her random debut. It was also the debut battle for my div mates in their Gokase and Cachalot. 2. That Duca was zoomed in on binocular view at max range. I believe you see him arcing shells well over me at another target. Man still played an amazing opening. 3. I was fully aware that New Mex was going to wreck me, and I consider that my one major miatake of the battle. I was, as you said, going too slow to angle the bow around in time, and i also didn't want to cut off my sub div mate's torps if they had range. 4. That Dallas was on full HP before he engaed my Gokase div mate. Even though he went down, I'd say reducing the Dallas to 8k was a worthy trade. 5. I was pounding my desk and grunting like a chimpanzee after winning. I was honestly in shock at what I'd just managed to pull off, and I needed to step away from Warships for the rest of the evening to cool off lol. 6. Yes, the name Jeff_the_Shark comes from exactly where you think it does. If you know, you know. Once again, thank you so much for the feature Jingles, and have a great weekend!

IDK if it's possible to do this even. I thought that WG was selling us millions of captains and premium ships etc. Few of which (compared to the overall number) have some basis in reality. And Seydlitz is one of the icons of taking absolutely crazy amount of damage and not sinking. The only way I can see it being implemented would indeed be to modify AR.

Ahh, Fault Line, one of my favorite mid-tier maps! Capture point "C" is such a hilarious gamble... if you try to secure it, you will almost certainly get stuck in a knife fight while completely cut off from your team. If you don't secure it, you may lose the point and get ambushed from behind. And the narrow mid-line channel between the mountains, with the lion's mouth island making a wye at one end, is a hilarious idiot magnet, Twin Brothers's little brother. As for the rest of the map, once you get into that middle killing ground, it's hard to get out, but only a good player can attack well from outside it. Plenty of very challenging placement decisions, but also plenty of opportunities for really fun mid-tier knife fights between only a few ships on either side. Lots of good memories about that map, even in the bad battles! Enemy team "managed" to lose because they weren't actually any good at all. It's just that Jefftheshark's team, other than himself and his two division mates, were even worse. Once they were gone, it was much harder for the enemy to finish off Jeff's division mates. They lucked into stupid, then found out how hard smart hits.

Always wondered why there were so many different calibers in a given Navy - that means manufacturing separate barrels and especially separate ammo. The fewer the calibers the easier manufacturing and logistics will be. It might be possible to use smaller caliber in a larger gun with a sleeve or sabot, but then that's something else to stock.
@wartorngaming10378 ай бұрын
2 words performance and availability. Highly recomend Drachinifel's naval logistics video. but TLDR: If fleet A have really good armor and you need a 15 inch gun to pears but you can only make 5 15 inch guns in an entier year but you can make a loot of 12 inch guns. You have to either only have 1-3 15 inch gun ships or you have 1-3 15 inch gun ships and 5-6 12 inch gun ships. And then there is the fact that diffrent guns have difrent performance, whant rapid fire: need small gun, want a loot of exlposiv filler need a biger gun etz. etz.
@Tuning34348 ай бұрын
@@wartorngaming1037 This, and the RN had the added benefit that the German navy where only fielding out lower caliber ships. When fielding out 13.5 and 15" ships, the RN did not HAD to devote equivalent armour on them, only enough to stop German shells. (Compared to the US navy where compromises where made to achieve sufficient equivalent armouring). The other way around is that German ships needed to be up-armoured to 13.5" and later 15" shells. Dr. Alexander Clarke argues that the Imperial German navy choose wrongly: in enclosed waters, with a Royal Navy of superior ship numbers, the Germany navy should have focused speed and firepower because in their situation they had to kill RN ships at any opportunity available. Getting into slug matches where a German capital ships survives by the skin of its teeth, but without sinking an equivalent, is as good as loosing your ship because the RN always will have an replacement vessel available and enough dockyards to repair without impacting new-builds, while a German ship would have been mission killed for extensive periods.
@jbepsilon8 ай бұрын
Also back in the WWI timeframe mass manufacturing hadn't yet evolved anywhere close to the point where it's today, so the benefit from concentrating on fewer calibres was less in those days than today.
