Congratulations Jingles! Incidentally, I am pretty sure that the Slava has an additional armour plate between the citadel bulkhead and the bow, which pevents frontal citadel hits. So shooting at a Slava's bow does make sense (as you will get full pens), but you can't hit her citadel that way.

Happy birthday Jingles. I think the easiest way to explain Slava's dispersion is that it doesn't scale well the way other ships do when you get closer and closer. When another BB would have it's horizonal dispersion halved at around point-blank range Slava is "only" about 3/4 of the horizontal dispersion at max range

You can't citadel the Slava through the nose. She has hidden plates that will block or deflect the shells. You can get full pens, but no citadels. On a more happy note, happy birthday Jingles!

Happy Birthday Jingles! I believe the Slava has a hidden plate behind the 25mm bow, WG loves to hide those in certain ships in the game, explains why the Shikishima barely did any damage to it.

Exactly this. On the Slava, hidden in both the bow and stern of the ship, there is a plate of 400mm armour to protect the flat faces on the front and rear of the citadel. Plus it's angled. So there's no ship in the game that can actually citadel a Slava from the front, despite having only 25mm of frontal plating according to WG's in game stats.

The Slava has a 100mm+ horizontal plate behind the bow and stern armour. It's not shown in-game but one of the wows tubers posted some info on it. It makes it harder than you'd imagine to crit it from the front or back.

Something to note about this ship: Because this is a WG title, and Slava is a soviet ship that totally existed plsdontshootmecommisar, of course it has hidden plating that prevents being citadelled from the front. Also, to make sense of the penetration values, the AP shells need to made from a Stalinium-Vibranium alloy and include a space time continuity break circuit. With the shell weight and velocity given by WG there simply is no material on earth which results in those penetration values. And that's glossing over the fact that these shells project a near-vacuum in their flightpath to achieve those drag values.

No the Slava has not been shown... most games in a slava are in the back, meaning boring to watch. What helped this replay was the storm, and the huge throw... Game of Throws series allows for more ships to be shown because some ships are just boring to watch. Also, Happy B day!

It’s worth pointing out that while the Slava’s bow and stern are only 25mm, it is next to impossible to citadel one from directly ahead or behind. Extending out from the front of the citadel at the level of the armoured deck is a box that doesn’t show on the in game armour viewer with a 100mm roof and a 420mm front belt, declined at a very steep angle. There is a similar arrangement at the stern and it means that a shell would have to get through 700+mm even at point blank range, assuming it doesn’t ricochet, which is very likely given the extreme angle of those athwartship belts.
