World of Warships Blitz - German premium battlecruiser "Prinz Eitel Friedrich" review

I need the Prince Eitel Freidrich in my life. I love CC’s, especially the CC’s that get slated as BB in game, they tend to be a bit better armored that way. Repulse, Odin, Scharn, Gneis, Spee are some of my favorite ships in game. Izmail wasn’t bad either, Dunkerque is a fun lil ship. Not up to Amagi yet, but that ridiculous Warhammer ship was pretty good less skin, that skin was horrendous. I’d wish they put this out for 6k gold in a bundle with its camo. I do look forward to Alaska, Krohnstadht and Puerto Rico.

It's been ages, but I have somewhat fond memories of the Balti. Epicentre, find yourself an island position and go bow-in, probably... The big problem with the Roon is that she has most of her firepower rearwards, so she only really works well at long range / kiting. Which is, of course, not what you need in epicentre at all.

My 1st taste of German BB's and I must say that I like it. High risk high reward this thing is. Preety accurate to I'd say 9/10 km, so You have no problem in softening up targets before mid/late game where brawls usualy start. And I like to brawl in it sooo much, the manual secondaries shred DD's to pieces, You have hydro and agility, to dodge danger pylons too... UGHHH!! Very refreshing, comming from my 1st BB line (British)

Yeah, it's a bit of a changeup from the RN BBs. German HE is pretty poor, so whereas in British BBs you'll probably rely on your mains firing HE at DDs, in German ships it's the secondaries. The 150mm AP won't pen battleship belts, so keep in mind to aim those at bow/stern on harder targets. And the mains are always fun. Probably the closest you'll find in the tech tree line is the Gneisenau at T7 (which adds torpedoes to the mix), the others are more regular BBs - less manoeuvrable, more armour. Still, they all get sonar, and blistering arrays of secondaries, and are usually pretty fast. Many people don't like the ships past Bismarck, since top tier tends to be long-range duel heavy, where they don't shine.

@@FunandGameswithTerry German ships look more forgiving and fun to play. From my experience, British BB's are fairly brittle and are most effective at range, they also encourage smart use of ammo, and are not HE spammers at all. Unless You track the targets that were recently repairing, You're gonna waste a lot of Your damage potential just spamming HE at things. That goes especialy in things like QE, or Monarch and up. Conqueror for example has murderous broadside if You have AP loaded and fast reload off cooldown.

This is a REALLY good ship. Still Warspite & Arizona are tougher but Fred has more HP than most w/ great guns. Secondary is supurb 🤗

She's not the tankiest, real battlecruiser :) But yeah, the secondaries, especially with a dispersion setup, can do very good amounts of damage.

Hello Terry, Very good review (like yours others). It's a very good ship. I have buy the big blitz pass with the camo. I use the same legendary commander, full level 😉 With the APCS, we have a very good citadel aptitude, very good. The secondary are more efficient that the Bayern and Black Bayern, when a DD go play with you, it's a lot of great moment, sonar always good for this. Same set up on my boat, in move as soon as possible. The pleasure in T6, we can move in BB, more hard in t10, with the lot and lot of DD, and per moment carrier in every battle (EU server). No worries, your English is fine. I occasionally get comments in languages I don't speak, that's when it's Google translate time :) I definitely need to get my commander fully trained, I'm keen to see how much of a difference APCS is going to make. The secondaries are great, and against DDs, the lower calibre of the main guns actually works to your advantage, because you can get full penetrations for 1200 damage on DDs at longer ranges (7km plus usually)

Yes I’ve noticed the Scharn and Odin work fairly well on DD’s even if you haven’t swapped to HC. Your English is fine enough, besides Terry isn’t a native English speaker. Although his English is damn good I can hear some of the German difficulty in certain words from time to time. To be completely honest though, you both speak better English then some of my native English speaking brethren lol.

Good question. I haven't played German DDs in ages tbh. From what I remember, decent torps, sturdy, good AP on the guns. DD hunters, but not necessarily long-range stealth torpers. Note that I've only played up to tier 6 I think.

I’ve gotten to the maas at t7, I’d say I preferred the jervis in t7. German dds aren’t bad ships but you need to know how to play a German ship and be careful. Some people have had more fun and experience than I have but I get little to no torp hits. If you do decide to go for them, good luck and have fun

The game can do 60fps, the phone up to 144Hz screen refresh rate. I've pinned the screen at 60 as well, but yeah, it does look much better, and the hardware just shrugs it off.

After Makarov my favourite Blitz Pass ship so far, i put my lv12 Bismarck commander on her and with the APCS it kinda feels like Bayern guns. I went with speed mod in 3rd slot though just for the meme that is 28.8 kts in a t6 bb lol. Also holding the world record with 125k dmg right now :D

Sweet! 125k... will definitely need to get von Hipper to APCS for that. I've skipped Makarov, because I already had a fully decked-out Nürnberg, but this one seemed a bargain. And I'm turning into somewhat of a collector of German ships by now :)

If you say it's a good ship, that's high praise indeed :) Yes, she's super flammable. I often use the fire prevention module in slot 2 on German BBs, especially the ones that take ages to accelerate anyway, but for a battlecruiser like this...
