World of Warships Blitz - Italian Cruiser "Venezia" Review

The Regia Marina cruisers certainly aren't easy to play, so while I'm still at the Trento personally, let's take a look a the top of the line - tier 10, Venezia. She requires some understanding on how she likes to sail, and a particular skillset.

The first games I played were really average. Give even just a bit of angle to get the rear guns to bear, and BBs will punish you very quickly for it.

Venezia players: What I do have are a particular set of skills, skills I have acquired over a very long career, skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. But great video as always, Terry! Thanks. Great review. Agree with the penetration who are a little be "funny", one time, at range, AP is better against BB, one time it's SAP. Rng? Currently at the T9, T10 target for the end of the year (or Z52...), the two problems are cv and center control (because this line is better in move, propulsion not with a good level). For the matchmaking, with more cruiser in T10, not sur it's the WarGaming works. In EU server, yes we have more cruiser in game, but I think it's when we have (or are) a lot cruiser player to go in game in the same time. We always have battle (consecutive per moments) with for example 1 cv, 1 bb and 5 DD.

It was just something I noticed in the MM, that I suddenly started seeing cruisers in T10, especially on Asia. In lower tiers, the AP was the way to go against BBs - try Trento AP against mid-tier battleships, it's brutal. Here, I'm not sure anymore - they seem to be very close to each other, so I can as well just stick with the SAP on the higher alpha damage.

Terry, Another good video, I came up basically with the same plan playing Venezia. Show broadside when no bb’s are around. Games w/single cap zone I get pummeled by bb’s. Advice by anyone, I always try to capture and hold zones. Stu

I didn't realise until I've watched the footage, actually - was too busy zooming around the map to be where I needed to be. Props to our Yama, they did the right thing to run away, rather than try and kill Worcester, and focus down the Shiki. We could have easily still lost that.

In terms of historical relevance the tiers 8-10 indeed didn’t even exist on paper. However in amalfi’s description it says that she was designed by the ansaldo company, but I couldn’t find any evidence of that company ever designing these ships. The last conventional Italian cruisers to be built were the Abruzzi class in late 1937. After those two ships I don’t believe the Italians were even designing any more cruisers.

Yea, this doesn't make me warm up to Italian line at all. Hindy still looks much better as a 1st T10 CA to have in my opinion.

Don't get me wrong, I love my Hindi, and if given the choice between the two, that's probably what I'd pick. But that SAP against DDs is absolutely murderous, and the gun layout compensates for a lot. For me, certainly a ship I'll get eventually, especially that I have Sanzonetti.

I got my hands on Sansonetti a while ago, that got me interested in the line again. Especially that the SAP seems rather on par with the AP on Venezia, although I'd have to try if she starts overpenning DDs with his skill
