The Italians had some of the longest range guns and the best accuracy at the range. They’d hit things at ranges that other nations wouldn’t even try to shoot at. Unfortunately QC on ammo production, specifically propellant production was very lacking and really messed with consistency of the range and accuracy. Which worked out for the allies. They also fired each gun one at a time in rapid succession. So Italian BB’s go Brrrrrrrt, essentially the sea going version of the A-10 thunderbolt II.

TBF not agreeing on the propellant thing, at least for the Littorios, that was a thing of the mid 30s for older warships, it was mostly solved by the time the Littorios entered service (actually Bagnasco says that even back then, analyses in the RM stated that QC was not a problem for dispersions issues on italian warships, one of the main problems was in the barrels being too close in some turrets like the zaras, or some specific guns like the rebored ones in the cavour class, but none of these problems were found in the littorios). The issue of the dispersion of the Vittorio Veneto at Gavdos is often used as reference, but it was a single, unlucky, event of a bad shell batch that could have happened to everyone, which ignores every other engagement and firing trial of the Littorios, which instead showed good dispersion on par with their peers like american BBs, and accuracy was good even at long ranges of 23-25 km. Every other thing you said I agree with tho. Problem was that the Italian navy couldn't afford to lose any of these BB so they had them shoot only from super long safe ranges that would make it hard for anyone to hit anything, and what's more, the Littorios never shot at a big target like a BB, they only fought small, harder to hit units like cruisers and destroyers. So yeah a single event tainted their reputation, and unfortunately they carried this myth over in WoWs.

@@aviral3464 yeah but the Iowas were extremely advanced and enetered service later, while Yamato was huge in everything. If you compare a Littorio to her contemporaries I'd say only the South Dakotas were equal/better than them.

@@aviral3464 well, yeah. The Yamato was laid down the same year that Vittorio Veneto was launched, and was commissioned the year that the first Iowas were laid down. The only reason they even ended up in the same war was that Japan and America were trying to crank out ships as fast as possible (some more successful than others) and Italy on the other hand was still trying to find a way to turn olive oil into steel.

The Lepanto I’ve seen a streamer nearly one shot a Shima….very dangerous to destroyers. It seems to be like an Iowa but a way better torp reduction than fire and flooding resistance. I actually compared the rudder shift…and it’s the best out of all IX BBs

The whole precise aim thing pretty much got confirmed with the patch notes. Definitely makes the commander setup more interesting. With the marksman skill and extra precise aim. Also the Lepatno at full health with historical camo can survive 15 torps from a shima

From my testing (not with the CC, don't have her yet), even precise aim 1 does a pretty good job on tightening dispersion. If she has a similar base range, she should be pretty capable of engaging at over 15km. We'll see.

Thanks for the review terry. Italian bbs are brawlers(just like in pc) and they are great at that. Colomob has the shortest range for t10 battleship and meh accuracy but that thing is monster at close range can outfarm anything in brawling range even a GK( no I am not exaggerating lol ) Plus SAP deletes dds so in this anti DD meta meh accuracy on these guns is a must!

Could you do an SAP+ build on a higher tier Italian BB just for scheiße and giggles? To compare the SAP+ vs APCS. If you find yourself bored one night after imbibing a bottle of win. I’m really curious if the sap captain skill makes the sap pen reliably on BB, I do not have the resources to do myself. I’m sure others would be interested as well. I only have 27.XX standard or 28.99 tor damage reduction with the frequently given out camo on my Monty and that thing tanks torps, even Shima torps like… well a tank lol

Yeah, I'll give that a spin. My expectation would be that improving the AP pen with APCS is the better choice, since the difference in alpha damage isn't that high, but always good to test things.

@@FunandGameswithTerry yea I was a bit disappointed at the difference of alpha between the two. I was hoping it would be like the cruisers and worth while. However I find myself in matches with a fair amount of DD’s and SAP is great on DD’s. Since they have a fairly high reload time I find myself a bit more hesitant on switching. If the SAP+ skill makes it pen like AP might be worth while to use and just keep SAP loaded unless against a very heavily armored target. It was just a thought if you found yourself bored and wanting to do a test video or on a wine night and wanting to do something a bit different.

Hi Terry, thx your clips; as always perfect „best of“ productions! The Luca Tarigo 90K Tokens and the Vitorio Cuniberti 160K Tokens are available in the event shop. So f r I have only managed to grasp roughly 47K Tokens no way I shall reach either of the two ships for free. For 7K Gold I can get a crate with a 0,18 % chance for further 10K Harpoons. Do you know how to collect the requested number of harpoons? I am number 2 ranked in my fleet and am rather disappointed to see that there is no way that I can make sensible purchase for my > 60 wins reward?

I haven't looked into the event economics, but it's usually geared towards getting you some way there, and then teasing you to purchase crates in order to unlock the remaining tokens. I think there's a victory challenge for the destroyers from the Blitz Pass as well, so there might have been a tie-in. Personally, I don't have the time to grind for those events, and especially when they're tech tree ships, I usually just wait until they come out. The crate has a relatively high chance to give you 1k tokens for 700 gold, which I personally think is prohibitively expensive - as you mentioned, the chance for the 10k tokens is minuscule. I'd personally spend the tokens on whatever is available in the event, and just let the rest convert to silver (the exchange rate is 1:10). Don't need silver pretty much ever, but like I said, I also don't have any expectations myself since I don't have the time to sink into those.

I'd suggest for you to aim at the enemy ship's water line next time....rather than just hitting him, as around the waterline lies the citadel which would deal a lot more damage (If you haven't had that habit yet or don't know yet) It's not as devastating as something like a citadel from the pc version, but more damage is always better

I don't think the mechanics work quite the same here as on PC. We don't know the details of the armour model, but generally trying to hit the deck armour yields best results, since that tends to be thinner than the belt. Citadels seem to be largely RNG based, as long as you hit the correct area. I like to believe that the mechanics are more detailed around penetration, we do know that exact armour thickness exists from release notes.

Tier 9 is one of the most annoying gameplay for grinding to tier 10, always outgunned with tier 10, but with this new line, i guest table has turned, can't wait until it's time to released on tech tree

Smolensk can be a terrifying HE spammer, if left to her own devices. Long-range heavy cruisers like Hindenburg can make short work of her, and SAP BBs may have a field day as well. "Worth" is always a personal question. What else could you buy for that money? Do you have it spare? Possible free alternatives include Nevsky and Worcester.
