World of Warships Blitz - Tech Tree Talk : Italian Destroyers

New tech lines are coming fast these days, the latest being the Italian destroyers. After the rather disastrous Paolo Emilio, I wasn't having expectations - probably another French line? Well, let's take a look. I've tested the tier 6 "Aviere" so far, so besides an overview of the line and its particularities, we'll go out a bit in that little mid-tier murder machine.

I love the tier 6 and 7. I play these more like knife fighters and use the torps only when I’m not in range. For the tier 6 and 7 I run reload mod as the turrets turn fast enough at these tiers. At the higher tiers they get bad turret traverse somewhere around 12 degrees on the base. But the tier 9 is just a Tashkent which I find great and historically accurate.

I've switched to reload for T7 as well. I like the idea of a general-purpose line, rather than something hyper-specialised, and they seem to be pretty well rounded all in all, e.g. the short gun range means you can't damage-over-time spam like the Swedes, they require a good amount of awareness to play to their full potential, but can still be used in a stealth torp role for someone who's not too confident with hectic engagements. A bit like the Brits. I'm curious how well the scout cruisers will work at 9 and 10...

Yep, that was all kinds of frantic. I tend to play aggressive (to a fault, sometimes), and in mid-tier, you can just flow through the enemy team like this.

I don't understand why the Italian line gets all the gimmicks. All their BBs are very tanky with very good guns and now their tier 3 DD gets smoke, speed boost and torpedo range to allow stealth torping.

The Italian lines have been pretty strong!!! As an American, Id really like to see the US lines get buffed. But as someone of Italian descent, Ill take what I can get!!!! 😂 🇺🇸🇮🇹😂

@@StingyTrigger Agreed!! I think older tech tree lines could/should get some of the new gimmicks to make them more capable. For instance- the Dutch air strike- wth?? Sounds like somthing that belongs on a US line- itd even make historical sense, because who's more likely to call in an air strike than the US LOL???

As a Yolo dd I find the combo of short strong bursts of speed with the capability for short smoke that can cover you at high speed make this one intriguing line. Have been playing the turbine and I do love it.

Thank you for the video - play them like the French DD - keep your distance and use your torps. Guns only if you have to defend against DD‘s. The guns obliterate DD‘s easy. Have about 50 games on Tier 7 the Luca with a win rate of 71 % - seems to be a solid ship. As always greetings from Germany 🇩🇪

Terry, regarding your video on the deck protection mod, what do you think I should run on Gk in that slot instead? I am torn between the propulsion mod and steering gear mod in slot 2. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I'm running propulsion myself on the GK. Let me quickly determine the numbers for you to make your decision: stock (no modules): time to full speed 32.38s, turn time 19.8s double steering: time to full speed 32.38s, turn time 15.84s propulsion / steering: time to full speed 26.9s, turn time 17.22s Ah, the beauty of limitless resources on press :D

Nice overview, thank you. The pronunciation is quite good too, there are just some small hiccups (like Tarigo, the stress is on the "i" not on the "a") but I congratulate with you nonetheless. It's refreshing to not hear these names completely butchered. As a little curiosity, the Navigatori class (Luca Tarigo) was also technically a scout cruiser class.

Hey Terry unrelated topic but have you ever had your game when you open it not connect to the server. I tried downloading the game a couple times and still it won’t connect to the server. “Failed to connect to the server”, it states. Does anyone else have any thoughts or came up with a resolution to this problem?

Back up your files, delete the game & reload it. That should work.

If you're generally logged in with a cloud account (wargaming.net, Google or Facebook), your progress will be saved server-side, and you can freely wipe local data. I've had this issue in the past with my wargaming.net account, and what helped was linking it to my Google account on their website and logging in to the game using Google. Alternatively (if you're on Android, I have no idea about Apple) try wiping the local cache (that's different from reinstalling the game), since that contains your account and login information. Just make sure you use a cloud account (see above), otherwise your progress is stored on-device. I don't know if that's possible, used to be.

Ive had ssme issue (and a game crash/freeze/kickout about every 5 battles) ever since two updates ago. Basically I do what Terry suggested, but Ill add that I often have to go into settings and either "force stop", or delete the game data so it basically has to start from scratch loading and logging in. Thank you for getting back to me. I do have an apple device… so I’m working on figuring that out. If I’m on Wi-Fi it works just fine but as soon as I try to play over LTE it brings up the same error. I do have my account backed up via apple Game Center/cloud service. I thought maybe the issue was I wasn’t logged in to game center but that didn’t seem to resolve the issue. I did recently switch carriers and that’s when this problem started so I’m working on figuring that out.

It may be possible that your LTE carrier interferes at the network level. Using a cloud account like Google or FB to login might get you around that, since they're less likely to be blocked.

This is a line I need to grind. I have still 3 destroyer lines at teir 9 still. Kabrovosk might have trouble with these Italians and she didn't get her torpedoes buffed like Tashkent and Kiev (i recommend these two) possibly to a possible teir 10 replacement, like on PC Version. Anyways, Exhaust Smoke isn't OP, and it doesn't have any higher levels, Emergency Engine Accelerator however is pretty much an Engine Boost IV with a shorter duration, so if higher levels come later, this skill might be nerfed.

The key to the emergency accelerator and exhaust smoke (funny name, I mean where else is the smoke going to come from) skills isn't the duration, but the cooldown. With the relevant captain skills, you can (and should) use them very frequently, and you get a lot of charges. I use the accel e.g. for torpedo dodging or for rushes, the smoke to cover a turn either when disengaging or during a run-up etc.

Not sure what happened there, but I've noticed that there can be a considerable lag in the torpedo hit detection, more than my network lag would call for. I've often been hit by torpedoes that clearly ran past me. This was kinda the inverse.

They're basically German guns against DDs, and British guns against anything else.

Greatest thing to note: WG put the Aviere at the very END of the Blitz Pass, didn't include any Blitz Token events to unlock more levels, but put an Aviere blitz challenge that effectively ends in the next few hours. Most players, even ones that bought the premium blitz pass, are barely halfway there. There NO WAY to unlock Aviere before the event ends. Opened a ticket, and was told they'd make note of it and they hoped I enjoyed the next event more. Another very incompetent way to introduce content, and a very indifferent, uncaring staff that will do nothing to remedy an obvious mistake. But Terry, your content is on point. Thanks for more insightful videos!

Turbine is not fun & has awful guns. Boring to play even though I like torpedo boats. Don’t gunfight with it.

I haven't tried Turbine yet, but I'd definitely classify the T6 and T7 as multi-role - they can be played as torpedo boats when needed, but if you're in range of the guns, it'd be a shame not to use them. I generally end up doing almost half my damage with the guns.
