The enemy team was winning on points and ships most of the way through then appeared to suffer the hallucinic condition of win harder then compounded with an infection of kill all leading to a cause of death by snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. R.I.P.

@@mjxw To be fair, a lot of credit needs to go to the Thunderer's division mate in Richthofen CV who seemed to be competent in providing spotting and AP bomber support. The Daring on his own with the Richthofen if focused. With that said the Daring should of flushed out the Harugamo with everyone focusing on the Harugamo while trying to not give broadside to the Thunderer and staying together for mutual AA support. Odin needed to wait and go unspotted if possible. If those 4-5 remaining enemy ships focused on the Harugamo first with the Daring flushing him out. The Thunderer or Richthofen could then be taken out en detail ....but that would require teamwork...let's not get carried away now...

@@MrDirigible Yeah the MVR basically won a couple of those fights for Thunderer. Blapping the Conqueror and the Riga. (I think the Haku's AP bombs were gamebreaking and instead of sensibly doing away with it, they just added a buffed version for the MVR! Hooray WG!) That said, the red team didn't even have to push into the last cap! All they had to do was defend B. Make Haru and Thunderer push into them - no chance at all of losing that. With any kind of teamwork at all, that was an impossible-to-lose situation. But randoms gonna random.

Summary of the battle: having a CV in division with you is a pretty sweet deal. 80% of the kills this guy gets come directly after a massive chunking by the overhead menace. This battle would have gone very differently if the CV wasnt giving direct support to the thunderer at all times

Actually Jingles, if you think about it, it makes sense in both reality and game mechanics that a damaged ship or tank would be easier to penetrate (and therefore have higher probability for an Ammo Rack or Citadel hit). There's lots of stuff in the way of an incoming projectile (additional armour, gun mounts, superstructure, sailors). If those interference layers are previously defeated or eliminated, the full unreduced penetrative power of an incoming AP round can be applied against defeating the citadel (or tank hull) armour. In addition, any armour is weakened in reality by successive non-penetrating hits, resulting in wide areas of armour that no longer provides the full protection it was designed to give. In game mechanics, this is likely represented by a reduction in defensive armour hit points, providing for a similar simulative effect.

World of Warships has a formula for non-tech tree battleships. Take a tech tree hull, remove a gun barrel from each turret, increase the caliber by 2". Or, if you're feeling innovative, add a barrel to each turret, and reduce the caliber by 2". If they're Germans, adjust by 1.5". Georgia, Ohio, Thunderer, Florida, Pommern, Shikishima.

I agree with you Jingles, the amount of fires I’ve set firing HE in the Thunderer lately has been abysmally low when compared to how many hits I’ve scored, in one game, i got about 25 hits, but only 3 fires. It’s almost as if the states on the ship shown in port are misleading us :P
