Played a match with two borodinos on the enemy team, they were both on the same flank and one of our dd's got angry he kept being spotted. Then he fell into depression when I told him borodino has 12 km radar

Bought it. After about 10 games I can say it’s not OP or bad. I think they did well balancing it. Play smart and you do well. Get reckless and you will be punished.

Having great fun with Borodino. Forces you to have good positioning and normally rewards you when firing at broadside ships.

I honestly had a pretty good exeperience with the Borodino so far, positioning is key as always and play like a battlecruiser. I also don't recommend to get too close to a cap early game, leave that to the true radar cruisers that have better concealment. But if you got cover and are aware of your surroundings you can start to push up. Also, staying completely bow on, like a Jean Bart is not the way, you gotta angle and hope your enemy is not aware of your 25mm bow, that's pretty much the only true weakness apart from relatively thin citadel protection. But It's really fun to play, especially when you're top tier of course ;) I devestaded a poor Ismael yesterday with 4 cits^^

Shot one broadside with my Ismail at 4 k all 12 guns. Blew up the Borodino scoring 3 citadel taking over 40,000 points in that one broadside, pretty freaking cool !

You don't need the pen... Lenin's pen is sufficient and it feels like the guns are even more balansed than soyus... Also firing angles in Lenin are op

A Walmart Lennin, WG do keep saving me money, the first time I saw her she had a 28 sec reload. Those secondaries could have been made real fun I'm thinking WG's marketing team must be OD'd on the Vodka and keep dropping their Balls, I'm thinking if they worked for a US/UK Company they would be out on their collective Ass, Great Review SL 👍

This thing has battlecruiser dispersion and 2.0 sigma. And this should be compared to the Constellation. It is a battlecruiser in battleship slot. Just like you can't play Elbin as a regular DD.

I think from what I've seen Borodino is more fun, you get a better experience with the guns, but aside from that theyre both squishy battlecruisers with radar. That said I've never played the Constellation.

@@artlailey1496 constellation is pretty good. She needs to stay at range because of her lack of armor, but she has Colorado guns which can be very good, a 35kt speed with speed flag, 2x3 rear torp tubes that deal almost 16.4k damage, and a 10km radar, and incredible turning radius for her speed. Wouldn’t recommend if you’re not used to sniping, but if she’s forced to she can go comfortably to mid range encounters.

Borodino would be tankier and would have the better gimmick. Constellation has torps but those 406/50 Soyuz guns with BC dispersion and the Russian dispersion gimmick is nastier than 8 Colorado guns with BC dispersion. Constellation is more interesting with torps but that bow is much more punchable since the Russian ships typically have extra plates, plus that bow is so long most AP would detonate before citadel.

I think it’s a well designed BB overall. Play correctly and it’s balanced good, play poorly and you get smashed through the citadel

Faced this thing for the first time in My Kii, constantly gave me 10k damage with his bow toward me 😂 Is this somekind of a answer to the recent US tier 8 BC which also has radar, weak armor and 6 guns, i wonder.

As a player who fell for the Lo Yang cash grab back in the day only to have the ship become completely obsolete now, this Borodino being released as only the 2nd BB in the game to have radar is totally giving me the same vibes. WG is cashing in on the rarity of BBs with radar in the game right now with the sale of this ship, only to eventually release more premium BBs with radar down the road if not an entire tech tree line of them which will completely obsolete Borodino just like how everything went down with the Lo Yang back in the day.

...I did see a pre-release video about this ship and in that it showed a 27 or 28 second reload, so I was surprised that when I looked at it in game it was > 30. :/

If those are Sov. Soyuz guns, the dispersion should be really beneficial under 14 km (or maybe that's a Sov. Rossiya thing), but yeah... huge nose to bloody. I like good guns but I prefer more mobile gameplay: this seemed quite static and semi-long range, which is all that's wrong with current BB gameplay. The game needs to be (or return to?) one about warships, not coastal fortifications. Really on the fence about this boat: a friend's been having a blast with it, but he's far more of a static player than I am, so I don't know.

That very long bow. Also in real life, her foremost turret would be almost useless firing bow on unless she would be plunging fire at the enemy from a distance. Otherwise in very close battles bow on firing is next to useless, making only her second turret useful. Of course ingame, this being WG we know the impossible is almost possible.

Unlike the game, most naval combat with big gunned ships happened with the turrets in a broadside configuration and at ranges the game engine would struggle harder to support.

In real life, unless absolutely necessary ships only fired broadside because even when free of obstruction the muzzle blast was enough to knock out sensitive components, radio antennas, and windows. Bismarck famously did a near "over the shoulder" shot which crippled her fire control radar. This is why most fast battleships typically have a bow slope that obstructs "A" turret from firing forward. The Iowas later gained a large radio tower in front of them. The whole benefit to actually putting all guns close together is to save weight on the citadel armor by making the area needed to armor smaller. That's pretty much it.

Ship don't bow on and fire while ignore blasting their own deck (there's only few ship like KGV-class which have very low bow profile allowing to fire forward but with limited elevation, this of course only when needed), i think the game simulate you too much, read a book or watch some naval histories.

The gun is really pin point mid to not so long range. At super short range the guns gets unreliable imo, But that squishyness of BattleCruiser is not really that great.

What? Radar on a BB is not for team spotting, its for self defense. You need to be pretty far forward for your radar to benefit the rest of your team. Krishna Rao below hits it right on the head.

25mm bow, 6x406 ... that's a battlecruiser. Well a sort of like the british Battlecruiser but sovietified. I think she can be fun to play. I understand this "design" is somehow related to the pre-Kremlin plans. Kremlin was the "We go Bonkers" uber BB plan, Boro was the "yeah, we are actually broke as shit" design. My question is: Is anything about this ship even remotely "real" or "realistic"? For example, did the guns or turrets exist? What about those Nevsky secondaries, 180mm dual purpose, wah? This is not about "no paper ships" or historical accuracy. As long as a ship is fun to play and doesn't ruin the fun of others, it should be in the game... caveat: If you break my suspension of disbelief, I ain't gonna be happy. Meaning: WG has to sell me the idea of a few pixels being a WW2 era ship, because like the name implies, this is world of warships, duh. If I think your *warship* is a *spaceship* this isn't going to float (hehe, funny wordplay). I have bigger issues with the new german battlecruisers because they are comically misshapen and unrealistic, they look like a toddler designed a toy boat. For the Boro, it's not that extreme but "this could have been a real ship" is not the first thought that springs to mind.
