Ran into a Unicom player in the Mecklenberg yesterday. It was like playing against a thunderer or conqueror minus a little alpha. 5 fires in 5 salvos. Wonderful experience. Developers at WG must have been pyromaniacs as children with their fascination with fires

Beyond annoyed this was a steel ship and not coal. I saw it way back when it was first announced and said “of course the German BB that looks fun is steel. Guess it’ll be another 5 years before I can save up enough to get it. GG.

The mecklenburg's design does seem to be based off some of the h class design proposals, the turrets however are just WG being on drugs

My own verdict: I got one with the coupon and drive it as a survival build, long range ship primarily, then brawl later in the game. 10 points captain, so still some potential there. I usually do around 100k damage. I have a little bit of buyers regret chosing it over the the Bourgogne, which would probably pull in bigger numbers (I'm extrapolating my experience from Thunderer and Ohio here, based on the Bourgogne's stats). BUT the Mecklenburg guns are just so much fun! Insanely accurate over 25km even, every salvo is 8-10 hits, and if shooting HE, almost every salvo is a fire. However, the gun damage seems anemic. I often land several hits for 4-5k total. AP pens quite often, but citadels rarely. It's not very effective in damage numbers or alpha strikes, but hitting 10 shells or such consistently is good fun. Armor seems good. I didn't yet get citadelled even sailing broadside to BB, the speed lets one disengage quite well. Almost every match had 2-2.5M potential damage, I think 2.5M was close to my personal best even. The turret angles are extremely meh, but if you rarely ever get citadelled, that's partly mitigated.

100k for a T10 BB is not that much. 150+ should be possible in most games, otherwise that ship is not good. What i saw her back gunangles are bad, meaning you give alomst broadside to use them or only use the front. If you use front only a Bourgogne, Yammy or Shikishima is way more fun.

This looks a bit ridiculous. And having a four barrel turret being more accurate than two barrel ones is hilarious, considering the reason the German navy went with two barrel turrets was for improved accuracy… but hey, it’s not as if this inconsistency hasn’t been there for years already…

No not at all accuracy had nothing to do with it It was rate of fire and through rate of fire correction of fire could be achieved. Their magazine hoists couldn’t also facilitate more than 2 barrels too. They had designs on 3 barreled turrets irl but they knew their hoists needed refinement to keep up with their preferred naval doctrine.

@@Momofukudoodoowindu In triple or quadruple barrelled turrets the barrels are closer to each other and more prone to interfere with each other making them less accurate. That’s irl of course, not in WoWs.

The 305 guns get easily incapacitated in any German ship not only the Mecklenburg but the Agïr and the Odin have the same fate, the turrets plating being just 305 do not get the armor like the other german fellows do. And they're so large they eat most of the shot while bowtanking. i remember 1 game that a couple of Kremlins focused me down and destroyed all main turrets on the Agïr.

Does the lower HP balance the good points or will this be another Steel ship that will get nerfed later? Not a huge fan of grinding a resource like Steel, purchase a ship, then have WG (repeatedly) nerf it many months or even a year after release.

The lower HP along with the lack of ability to overmatch, well….anything, keeps her in check. She’s basically a giant Hindenburg. I’d like to think she won’t get nerfed, but WG is WG.

I want to put Aux Mod in Slot 6 and let loose a billion flak with my DFAA so bad. Take it from a guy with an AA Montana, the AA values on Mecky feels impactful.

If you want to play more satisfying AA builds, try full AA spec Petropavlovsk, if you haven't already. Petro is still great even without any gun buffs, and its 6.9km range on the AA, its flak and continuous are really good

@@symenbrug1992 I have yet to grind a Petro, but from my AA build US CA/L and AA Hipper, I can’t wait. Too many potato CVs that rely on the fact that CVs are strong and not actually dodging flak exist atm.

@@sealordmountbatten i love both ends . For example in one ranked battle with a Salem i ended the life of a flank contain Incomp and Hiki by myself alone . Incomp melted fast and i was exposed to both of them . And that gave me the impression that is incomp in a real bad ship

She's a good ship, but consider what Mecklenburg can do, Bourgogne can also do, some aspects even better, Bourgogne have bigger guns, better turret angles( Mecklenburg turret angle is even worse than Kufurst, has reload booster, a little bit better turning circle.
