I got it as a container drop (lucky!), and while I haven't been a fan of the Dutch cruiser line in general this is a definite keeper. Good accuracy, decent DPM, and the air strike gives you the ability to hit things while hiding - either when you're hiding or they are.

I don't think the Oranje can replace the Gouden Leeuw for me. The reasons I pick the Gouden is not to set fires only, but because it can wreck light cruiser and BBs with AP as well as dislodge island huggers. I fell in love with the GL the day I kept citadeling a Montana at max range disrespecting my golden lion.

Thanks for the review SeaLord. Got this yesterday and the guns are really good. The shell ballistics are actually identical to the Spanish tier 9 cruiser Andalucia, in terms of velocity, air drag and krupp, etc. But you get better dispersion, as you mentioned. Not sure if you said this in the video, but the other advantage it has over GL is the range on the guns. PVO gets just over 18km base, which with the accuracy and velocity of shells is very decent. Airstrike reload is down to 108 secs with the module and commander skill, but still as tough to aim!

The airstrike is hard to get used to, but the guns are great. You have to think of it as a gun boat rather than an airstrike boat.

I have the ship. The guns are very good. The airstrikes are a challenge to hit moving ships but very good for ships camping or doing a slow reverse. With Santa containers and festive rewards I quickly picked up the 10,000 steel I needed. I also am back up 30,000 steel. I picked up the Hoffman from a golden container. I am also back up to 30K steel.

I got this ship also. Played once and was so astounded by the accuracy of the guns I almost forgot about the air strike! I then commenced to make an island camping cruiser very miserable.

I do have Oranje and she is quite a solid ship, her guns are consistent and she gets cruiser burn/flood time instead of a large cruiser so that makes her a very tanky cruiser. The airstrikes while nice shouldn't be your main focus, they are more of a extra, so focus more on her survivability and guns

I'm really not sure how I feel about this part of the event. There is an obvious FOMO component involved much like last year's even with the Japanese torp cruiser (sorry can't remember her name ATM) and the British super cruiser HMS Defence. Clearly they aren't going to leave those ships on the shelf forever so they will eventually be available in some way shape or form without having to pluck down 30K steel. I was already going to get a steel ship this December but 22K worth of steel for one of the DDs I don't have yet (The German Z class or the Frenchie) seems like a lot easier to swallow than 30K+ for any of the event steel ships.

It's certainly better than Hoffman, but the strongest and most unique option in this steel event is definitely Chikuma II

I was lucky enough to pull all three of the Golden crate ships, and I feel that the Van Oranje and the G. Hoffman are both incredibly good, but Chikuma II comes up lacking.

I have the oranje, the armor is crap compared to the Golden Lion, for whatever reason the oranje takes cits(especially through the ass) way more than my GL. Also, the airstrikes are so slow to reload that they are a side thought. Also, the long lead time only makes them really useful on dislodging annoying cruisers or blind spamming smoke. The guns are really good, though. Not worth the cost imo, but I got it for free so I'm not mad.

Picked up via golden container from mega container. Seems ok but was not overly impressed. Air strikes seem more accurate to me as well with this compared to tech tree. Will keep it but wouldn’t invest steel in it over the tech tree.

Got this with steel and people be totally aware there is a bug in the turret health. You WILL have turrets knocked out with almost every enemy salvo. Enemy DDs who know about this will knock your turrets out constantly. In a few months everyone who breathes (not all players by a long shot) will know about the bug. For a few days in gold ranked it was hilarious seeing then only being able to shoot with one of the front turrets consistently disabled. Now you will never see one unless it’s a player trying to qual. You are totally relying on WGs ability to fix bugs……… It’s a great side grade with very effective guns. You need good guns cause you need to play at range because of the bug.

No diss on the Sea Lord but he's talked about the shinano the prince the Hoffman but yet he has neglected to talk about the one boat I think everybody is a little bit interested in also and that is the USS archerfish yes the only submarine in the game with combat instructions and it's the shinano greatest enemy

The ship is broken. No not like that. The turrets have an issue and are continuously knocked out. I wouldnt buy this if considering it until the next patch when its fixed. Hoffman also has 'glitches' with the health bar and an underwater one. Both ships need fixing but thats unlikely until the next patch so I wouldnt touch either until then.

Na man, the ballistics are amazing. The 12 234 have great AP pen. Can cit BBs at closer ranges just like battle cruisers. The HE is also very nice when you consider how armored this this is. And with the great base range you have a really good reload and can take reload mode. The HE you have British fire chance with Japanese range. Oh and don't forget the AP still over matching super light cruisers liko mino and smolnsk

@@supertris1174 The AP is very similar to Henry IV, hardly known for it's smashing abilities. If I want ballistics I play a Petro and get radar for free. If I want dpm the yanks have double. If this was a research bureau ship I'd pick it up at some point. As a steel ship, 0 chance.

@@sirtogii5216 no it's not like Henri at all. Guns on Prince are way more comfortable at range. And the armor is a lot more reliable. Out of all the steel ships in the event it's easily the highest performing one. Yeah Petro is better AP wise within 12km but the prince is a lot of versatile all around. The accuracy drop off on Petro is really bad. And lbh the HE on Petro is so anemic it's better to shoot AP at angled targets. If it's not your style that's fine, but you should watch some PQ videos before you write this one off as just another HE spammer.

The parameters on ship tools look very very similar, slightly more drag on the French shells but the Frenchie has got better fire chance, the ability to reload boost when he wants to and use the engine to avoid being hit. To me, it just doesn't look different enough to anything else to merit steel purchase. For players who already have all the ships I'm sure she's a different flavour.

Prins of Oranje can launch 2 air groups at the same time. The guns are alot better. I would say they are the most accurate guns in WoW. but don't listen to me, I'm only the test pilot for Wow ships in BETA before this game went live. Been playing for over 10 years now.
