While I doubt it, the 1944 A design Lion could have a chance. With the 16inch MK IV gun and potentially better armour than a Yamato. Thats provided they include it, which I think they need to unless they use a fictional shp, which I hope they don't given the sheer number of vessels the RN designed. Either way, I'm really looking forward the RN BB tree, especially the KGV, that will be a beast to kill given its superp armour scheme.

maybe it will be the n3-battleship/st. andrew-class (with 1mm bigger main caliber to overmatch 32mm) so probably yamato as a battlecruiser (this is my hope, the yamato as a battlecruiser)

Well Wargaming said that Yamato will always have the largest calibre gun armament and I don't think the N3 could really compete well at T10 given its rather lack luster speed and guns that wouldn't have performed very well without various modifications. Though I'd prefer the lion solely because it looks better.

meh just give n3 a fictional engine she was designed to have a 50k hp engine just drop the 100k+ from lion in her she's big enough and call her a 27.5 knot ship also her guns are 457mm so they are smaller than yamato also if we go with the shells meant for the actually built bl 18in mark 1 with it's 1500kg shells at 760m/s it should be more than enough to hurt really bad. I don''t see a need for much modification

Thanks for the info. My son-in-law bought me a 1/400 scale Lindberg model of the HMS HOOD @ a yard sale 2 weeks ago, since he knew that I played World of Warships. So I bought the HMS Hood this week and I have already sunk the Bismarck & several other ships of all kinds, but I haven't seen any subs in the game yet!

I see what you are saying, but they are almost giving you the Bismark (or credit if you already have one) if you get the Hood now. I did overspend on it and completed the missions in less than 2 days and now I have a Bismark which I wanted but did not have. I guess I dont see any problem with forcing a premium price for a short period of time as long as they make it reasonable after the Sink the Bismark missions are over.

Notser I have the HMS Hood and I have noticed a weakness it`s seem to be very easy to destroy the main battery guns on it. Granted I did not chose preventive maintenance but I was up against a New Mexico at about 11km and he kept knocking out my turrets with no problems in one game. In other games Bismarck and North Carolina did the same to me. Is this something you have noticed? Maybe preventive maintenance is a must have? I went with target acquisition this time to know when I would be forced to angle but I`m starting to think that was the wrong choice. going for the absolut tank build on the Hood.

Turrets are definitely knocked out easily on the Hood, much like they are on German BBs, I've been reduced to one turret on both the Hood and Bismarck before. So I run the main armaments modification that increases turret health and preventative maintainence, and my turrets aren't knocked out nearly as much, although it does occasionally happen.

Notser I am re-watching this review, as well as several others! I went and bought 20x of the Largest Xmas Gifts, they were on sale for $74.99. As for ships I won; Graf Spee, Duca D'aosta, Perth, Dunquerque, Indianapolis, and of course the Hood! 4x Tier 6 , and 2x tier 7 Premium Ships, as well as 6000 Gold Doubloons, 100s of those 4 Special Flags, and 150+ Camouflages! *I HATE Loot Boxes, but what WOWS does for Xmas - is NOT a COMMON Loot Box, it is a GUARANTEE that you WILL win far more than what you spent! Yes it is randomised, but as Flamu said (paraphrase) "If you have the money and there is nothing that you SPECIFICALLY want to buy from the shop, then I would fully recommend the presents." And I had the extra cash* - the next premium that hold ANY interest for me is the T-61 unless it gets nerfed into the ground...

Last year from the "Medium" presents, I won the Emden, Ischizuchi, Anshan, and Texas - not bad for ~$45 spent, besides which, I STILL have the MANY flags and camos I won last year! The Xmas Gifts basically keep me stocked up with EVERYTHING! And while some of the prems I have won (Dunquerque, Emden) - really do not interest me too much, I ALWAYS am interested in more 10 skill captains! I was actually HAPPY I won the Emden last year, it gave me a 10 skill captain to use in my Scharnhorst! And now, the Graf Spee can use my Scharn captain, and when the T-61 is released, I will IMMEDIATELY have a 10 skill captain for it!

Great way of showing off the stats, build etc. I think most people already know the stats and so on, so making this a lot more dynamic and starting your videos on a high does a great job. I can see you have put a bit of effort into this, so great job! Just make sure you follow up properly after starting the video on a high.

In game she's a good ship that I do like to play, as you say the turret traverse is fantastic. I'd still like to see an Admiral class in the tech tree (as in Gneisenau) that had the modernisation planned for the Hood, especially the 5.5 inch dual turreted secondaries. Yes I did buy the first bundle to come out, after all she's HMS Hood, and as such has a similar meaning to me as ships like the Texas and Alabama have to other players. The bundle had nice "extras", two 12 point commanders and 50 of each of the three new flags (plus 50 Dragons) are good.

Yeah, I'd like the see the admiral class in game, maybe as part of a British BB line split, with the second line being Battlecruisers. But thats because with Hood in the game, I'd rather see Nelson than a second Admiral class, and Nelson can only really fit at T7.

Have to agree with that, Nelson/Rodney will be interesting, though I'd imagine (like the Dunkirk) will be more limited tactically than battleships with the common layout. KGV class and Vanguard will be the ones I'll be more looking forward to, though what the Tier X will be is intriguing.

Yeah, it should be able to tank a lot more than Dunkerque, since they were rather heavily armoured Battleships, but their gun layout was questionable and their weapon performance was rather disappointing for a 16 inch gun, although the weapon performance were somewhat corrected in their later lives. Really looking forward the KGV though, which i think will be at T8. I hope WG do their research and realise that the 14 inch gun was actually pretty damn good and that the jams were more crew problems than anything to do with the gun. Especially combined with the fact the ship was the second most heavily armoured class in the world, behind Yamato. Vanguard may end up at T9, and I think the T10 may be the Lion class with the improved 16 inch guns. I imagine in the later tiers, british gun performance will be a lot better in comparison to other nations to compensate for the smaller amount of guns and the the lower calibre in cases, much like the Warspite's 15 inch guns are superp.

Hood had a higher gun caliber than Bismarck but the Bismarck had heavier shells. It was a fair fight but I don’t think the Hood showed its full potential.

Not really. Both had 15in guns. By 1941.,the Hood was in serious need of a refit. She should have been modernised like the Renown, but she wasn't. Bismarck had better armour and better FCS too.

Hood's AP shells shatter something unreal. Throw 8 shells at the enemy, 2 miss, 2 shatter, 1 ricochets, 2 overpen and 1 penetrates but laughably does 0 damage. WOOO!!

Following pre-release buffs, she now seems to be an attractive ship. I would like to have her, but the current bundle price tag is a bit too much for me. We'll see what they will charge for the plain vanilla ship without frills attached later. Or I just wait for getting lucky regarding supercontainers or the next Xmas-crate event. I don't get the whining about the "Hunt for Bismarck" event. Looking back, it seems to be much easier to accomplish compared tothe "Xmas convoy" mission that gave you the Graf Spee (not to forget plenty of T6 ships equipped with permanent camo). People should bear in mind that the perma camo for Bismark may look cool but is inferior to the one can get for paying dubloons. Hood, being a premium ship, automatically comes with a premium camo once you buy her. Getting a Bismarck as the ultimate price sure is nice, but the Bismarck - being a T8 line ship - is accessible to all players anyway. It just takes time to unlock by what some call "the grind" and I call "fun at playing while advancing".

On BB's I almost never use the artillery module to reduce the chance of losing main artillery and torpedos (except for Scharnhorst). I always use the secondary and AA protection module and for the squishy AA missile launchers it is definitively recommended. Turrets on BB's are well armored and I lost them rarely. Please reconsider a secondary build. You were not shy in the past to try somwhat exotic builds. 8 barrels of 102 mm to each side doesn't sound much, but you can bring it to 7.6 km max range, they are all HE, have a basic 6% chance of starting fires and have a 3 sec reload. German BB have double the amount of barrels and higher caliber, but they also have almost double the reload time. I have to add, I'm just curious. I still think the Hood should be played on distance. Ironically in reality it was more of a brawler and extremely vulnerable to plunging AP shells. ... but i might be wrong on this part and the Hood, with its awsome turret firing arcs, buffed turret traverse and expanded armor belt at the front and back can prove to be quite the brawler.

Gneisenau : 32 knots (same speed w. upgraded PP ), Bismarck also at 31knots. nominally same traverse speed on main turrets (both unbuffed), same for Bismarck and Tirpitz, never mind the Scharnhorst at 28secs (unbuffed). Sort of hard taking your reviews at face value, if there is not even time to check the spreadsheet/wiki.

this ship is actually well balanced now. I take out my Iowa and often face a bunch of hoods and they can really do nothing to me. as it should be, you know? I'm in a higher tier ship. unlike some ships that have radar and smoke and hydro and concealment, this isnt the be all end all of premiums. I was initially disappointed with the turret traverse being buffed, but honestly, I can say that I was wrong.

Not really. It was never a battleship. It was always a Battlecruiser, its what the RN called it throughout its life, because it wasn't a fast battleship.

Yeah, she was a BB in many respects. But the Royal Navy classified her as a Battlecruiser and she was a Royal Navy ship. Therefore, she was a Battlecruiser. There was no universal agreed definition on what seperated Battleships and Battlecruiser, unlike many other ship classes. Its largely to do with politics, but she wasn't as heavily armoured as the QE class, for example, although she came close. Scharnhorst was a Battleship because Germany considered her a Battleship. The RN considered her a Battlecruiser, but she wasn't a Royal Navy ship.

hood received way too much armor than any battlecruiser of her time but she was still called battlecruiser because that was her initial design and lately she was still called battlecruiser despite the term was obsolete. the thing is that when she was built battlecruisers still existed. these ships traded the armor for speed. but after naval treaties in 1920+ which did a temporary halt to battleship building there came a new generation of battleships which didnt need to trade armor for speed because now technology allowed them to have both, so no battlecruisers were needed and the rare designs between battleship and cruiser like alaskas were motivated from different reasons than from armor-speed trade like in ww1

The Hoods 35s(?) base turret traverse is fine, better than fine, its almost German, while jack of all trades or high alert actually help your tankiness.

The def AA is overrated, the rockets are good for the first strike but are destroyed easily, I'm having to use auxiliary armaments mod 1 and AA gun mod 2. I think better guns or damage control party would have been better.

I think I've had a single rocket battery destroyed in 50 games and I don't run the AA/Secondary survival mod, I use the Main bettery survival mod. Maybe its just me, but in an actual combat situation, very few shots tend to hit them from my experience. But meh, the AA isn't good enough for me to spec into AA, but as it is, the stock defensive AA is rather useful solely as self defence. It swats away T5 and T6 planes, shoots down a fair amount ot T7 and T8 planes and gets some damage against T9s.

Meh, just posting my experience because people seem to see a video about the AA being destroyed easily in a test no way representative of combat and then denounce the AA as useless in the later game, which I found it isn't, even with no AA buffs. The short range AA with DFAA is damn near amazing. Besides, we if don't base the effectiveness of something on what the players have experienced with, what do we base it on?

I just bought the hood and its a very upgrade and skill heavy ship to be either terrible or ok. The hood is no warspite so forget that. The hood ap is terrible. The hood secondaries are amazing. The hood aa is ok. The hood vs bbs just be wary as i do not use he it is cancer.

Kongō underwent two major reconstructions. Beginning in 1929, the Imperial Japanese Navy rebuilt her as a battleship, strengthening her armor and improving her speed and power capabilities. In 1935, her superstructure was completely rebuilt, her speed was increased, and she was equipped with launch catapults for floatplanes. Now fast enough to accompany Japan's growing carrier fleet, Kongō was reclassified as a fast battleship.

Ice___ and hood also went under construction with extra armour added. She had a catapult plane added then taken off, and additional AA. Her top speed dropped down as a result.
