Actually, Jingles: Cleveland at T6 did not have radar, nor did it have BOTH hydro and anti-air - you had a choice between the two of what to mount in port. So, with the addition of radar AND BOTH hydro and anti-air available at the same time in battle, a bit more health after being bumped up to T8 was not the only thing they changed.

Still loved my old T6 Cleveland. It felt like a pocket battlehsip with its 12 6" guns raining hell on targets and an AA ability that terrorized CVs and slaughtered all air squadrons with ease. Ah those were the days!

If anyone nerfed the Ceylon it was the Royal Navy. It was a sub-class of the Crown Colony cruisers which was built with just 3 main battery turrets. The 9 guns is historically accurate.

Finally some praise for Omaha. I always really enjoyed her, it takes some new thinking about cruiser gameplay due to her gun arrangement but I always found it really convenient to never really have to worry about which way her guns are pointing, plus they're pretty quick to reload. It's a good ship, you just have to have some patience and wait until your target is preoccupied.

I love whole UK light cruiser line , oh tho I never grinded Fiji ... as I won Edin from container and I have grinded her to get to Neptine & Mino , so I did not had her , but 2020 I did mino line reset , and got Fiji is is awesome :) (BTW fun fact not many people know that but in game HMS Denae in ww2 was leased by Polish Navy was called ORP Conrad and was second Denae ship in Polish service first was ORP Dragon that sunk in allied landing in Normandy ... so I just wait for Polish verion of Denae ... but knowing WG thay will install soviet armanment as they love falsefy history ...)

Slight correction for the end of the battle: The combat instruction of the Pan-Am Cruiser only reduces the cooldown of your consumables (DCP, heal, hydro etc). ASW planes, on the other hand count as an armament and is thus not affected by the Combat instruction. Otherwise this was a good battle to watch and I amused that fail divisions are still a thing.

To be honest, German Kriegsmarine had the "Zaunkönig" homing torpedo, so at least this is accurate for the German subs but is is homing by the noise of the ship, not by ping,

I'm surprised they've not added this Fiji as a Tier 6 for the RN, it was a genuine refit, they pulled of X turret added more AA and were happy with it on several of the class. She'd probably be a darn sight better than the Leander.

They already have done that in the form of the Tier 6 Commonwealth premium Mysore. Mysore is the former HMS Nigeria in Indian service, with the X turret removed.

As a retired submariner, I totally agree with your opinion of WoWS submarines. The speed is way too high and homing torps are ridiculous. That being said WWII hydrophones and sonar only worked with a narrow angle to the front of the surface ship and did not work above 1/4 speed due to the noise of traveling faster. But of course, radar working around and near islands kinda should not work as well. Great Video though and the Omaha (and the Murmansk) is my favorite tier 5 cruiser.

Actually Jingles, acoustic homing torpedoes we’re first introduced in 1943. An air droppable variant was deployed by the us navy in march 1943 called the mark 24 torpedo. It was also modified as the mark 27 torpedo to be fired from submarines the same year. The Germans also had this tech. The G7e/T4 Falke was briefly used by Type VIIc submarines U-603, U-758 and U-221 in March 1943. It was phased out in favor of the G7es/T5 Zaunkoenig which was deployed in august 1943. Russia didn’t employ acoustic homing torpedoes until 1946. The problem with these early torpedoes was that they were very sensitive. German subs equipped with their torpedo had to go silent running and dive 60m to avoid being hit by their own torpedo and required a minimum arming distance of 400m to allow for the homing torpedo to work. The type XXI U-boat was the fastest sub on and under water in WWII. All others had a 14-18knot top speed above water and a maximum 10 knot submerged speed. The type XXI, though revolutionary, was still slow by surface ship standards at 15 knots surfaced and 17 knots submerged.

Yes, but the sonar ping lock-on system makes it clear these aren't acoustic homing torps that WoWs subs have. They're being guided by the sub, not merely tracking the engine noise of the target.

G7e top speed was 29 knots and a range of 4.1 kilometers. The American mark 18 was a straight up copy of the G7e without the homing device and represented about 65% of US torps in WW2. The other US torp in WW2 was the mark 14 steam powered torp which also had a 4.1 k range but a 46 knot speed. The mark 14 is the one that is infamous for it's failures .

15:02 The reason so many of those sub torps missed is that the devs said "yeah, it might be a bit unfair to have the homing torpedos perfectly home in every time" so they put in a proximity per ship class that homing torpedoes stop homing at as they approach the ship, to give some semblance of a chance to beat the torpedoes racing towards you

The new CNL Bolinaise (nerfed Fiji) has better armor than the fiji. Strangely Can’t beat the CNL BOLinaise in my Munchen, Myoko or Zara in brawls, but usually beat the Fiji because the Fiji has that shit armor but CNL B has decent armor for a tier 7 cruiser.

I've beat 90% of the Bolognese and Fiji's I've fought with my Yorck. The superstructure eats German AP and if they broadside...lol Sometimes I'll just charge straight at them and then when they get inside 3km I'll risk the broadside to dump basically undodgeable torps. Idk what Munchen's armor is like but given it's a German cruiser, it probably has good bow armor. So I would recommend just charging at them and spamming HE with those 150mm guns until the Bolognese decides to broadside you or you get into guaranteed torpedo range, whichever comes first. Oh, and don't forget to use your hydro

I can punch throw the nose of a fiji, strangle not the CNL B, so I throw the heat. But HE is like kicking field goals. If I really want to win I play Toulon the tier 7 bully.

Actually Jingles, Chile bougth/ordered 2 battleships to UK. They were both expropiated by the royal navy. The HMS Canada which fougtht in the battle of Jutland and later sold with a bonus pack of subs and supply ships. It was named in Chile as the Admiral Latorre. Her sister had some malfunctions so it was later converted as a Carrier. The HMS Eagle. Yes it was the predecessor of the Eagle that was inspired from the disgusting overpower Tier 11 Eagle. Although I have to say, the Danae and Kuma are amazingly good tier IV cruisers... Both are fast, stealthy, have a high rate of fire and great torpedoes, at least for their tier. If you forced me to play a tier IV in a tier VII match, I'd probably pick the Kuma, and if it wasn't for the lack of HE ammo, the Danae would be a close second, with better knife-fighting capability. Tip to tier IV cruiser players: Russian battleships at tier IV/V are vulnerable at the stern, if you're shelling one at long range, that's the only effective place to aim, but it can be enough to keep you useful when that's your only, or priority, target.

SAy what you want about it, I like it better than a Fiji, I'm not scared of heavy cruiser AP going through my nose in it, only every battleship's AP, in ops, it means a fire is not a death sentence (when all the Myokos and other IJN CAs start shooting AP in Aegis), but rather a chance to go nose in and bow tank something, can't do that in a Fiji. Yes the lack of HE, SAP, or short fused AP sucks but I'm still more likely to sail this than a RN CL not named "VII Belfast", and at least she gets an extra charge of the normal duration, short range hydro, and with her gimmick, she might actually use it

I can tell you this thing outguns a Fiji in a 1v1 which I found out the hard way via the current brawl season. The guns are extremely accurate.

The biggest thing I hate about subs are the amount of torpedos they fire and the spacing of the torpedos. when you’re fighting a destroyer you at least have a chance if you know how well your ship turns to sail between the torps. But with subs they fire torps that are like 2 feet apart and they’re so fast there’s no possible way to avoid them unless the sub driver is absolute shit and that’s if they’re not guided.

If they're not guided, and they fire a spread that narrow, all you need to do is take pre-emptive action. Straight lines sink ships, turn often and change speed often. Interesting aside: Exactly the same counter for torp DDs like Shima back in the day.

Hmmm the HMS Ceylon did come with only 3 turrets from the dockyard and did have the Walrus originally. And, YES, submarines suck. I'd rather face a carrier than a submarine, and I question the statement that submarines are a balanced addition to WOWs. Since my above comments I have worked my way up the Pan-American line as far as the Ignacio Allende. I love the play style of the Pan-American cruisers and this particular ship fits my playing style like a glove. She is my 2nd best ship by farming numbers only behind the Premium Abruzzi. This ship is a freak show, a great farmer and fun to play.

The Fiji WAS awesome before they nerfed its' main gun reload. They give the British main gun reload time to the Pan Asia (Cnel Bolognesi). Don't play the British line anymore except the Mino.

I don’t know whether Almirante Cochrane will show up again since the “Pan-American” light cruisers do not get a lot of play on KZbin, probably because the Tier X clown ship version has not shown up yet, but: Thomas Cochrane was a character worth talking about. Fought through the Napoleonic Wars with enough style and dash to make it to Captain and be dubbed “The Sea Wolf” by Napoleon himself, then got cashiered because of a fraud charge on the London Stock Exchange. Then served as an admiral in both the Chilean and Brazilian navies, plus a cameo appearance with the Greeks during their war of independence. Sometime later he was reinstated in the Royal Navy as Rear Admiral of the Blue, dying as Admiral of the Red. He is widely considered to have influenced both C.S. Forester’s Hornblower and Patrick O’Brian’s Jack Aubrey characters. Good on the much-maligned Wargaming for naming a fictional ship after him. Worthy of a Mention in Dispatches on KZbin.

Historical accuracy has never been a major priority for WoW. But as someone who knows a little about real ww2 submarines, I can only conclude that WOW's submarines are magical. And Jingles? A ww2 sub with a submerged speed of 7 knots? Maybe a late-war design, if that sub just didn't care about burning up its battery charge in a matter of minutes. More like 2-3 knots submerged for most, maybe. Noting also, I've Citadelled certain cruisers while they were bows-on. With HE.

speaking of Subs makes me think of a game i had a few days ago (4 kills and a dev strike) where i had my first ever Kraken stolen from me because the friendly sub killed the last 2 enemies one of which only had about 300hp granted i made a few iffy calls but ive never been so disappointed ever.

Back in the day, the Omaha was amazing - all those guns, all the dakka, reasonable matches. Now, sadly, it rusts away in my mothball fleet.

As any noob I started with US navy St.Louis GOD , Phoenix slower reload that GOD , Omaha I had terrible time play it , I manage to unlock Cleaveland then I have quit game for 3 months , when I was back Cleaveland was at T8 = she was my first T8 ... when I look back my WR still suffer from first year of playing my first ships , and T8 Cleaveland without mods in T10 battles , that was nightmare :/

@@adammarcinkowski-ko3el I still say that the St Louis is the BEST ship in the game, especially that you can have for free. Why? Its massive dakka and gunnery and the looks of a a tourist liner of death makes it the most fun ship to play. But at its tier it is really hard to citadel as well, meaning it is a mini battleship at times.
