@@nighthawk2174 yeah back when paper ships were actually an exception and there was no insane power creep and aircraft carriers were strategic i.e. actually fun for all sides within the scope of what's possible with CVs and there were lots of CVs so more variation and less focus on T6, T8 and T10 battles so more equality of all tiers... oh how I miss those times

i started with the german bb line, i just jumped right into the deep end and honestly, i loved each and every ship in the german line.

Even the Gneisenau? My brother started with the German BBs but said they were terrible and moved to the Russian ones instead :| I started the US BBs and moved to the Germans just to see if it really was that bad, but I've just been having fun with them and am now grinding for T8. He said the Gneisenau was the worst, but it feels like a slightly faster Bayern (both in speed and the turret traverse / reload). And sure, you do lose 1 turret, but you had to give a lot of broad-side to use the rear ones and they mostly came in handy during drive-bys, so I guess you can use the torps if it ever comes to that. Anyhoo, really fun compared to the US ships, at least up to T7 so far. I can actually relocate and be useful on the map instead of picking a map side and dying on my hill there till the end of the match like the Alamo.

@@srirambharadhwaj3070 I see.. all the more motivation for me to get to it then :D I also had those containers a while back that gave some camo for it, and was always bummed how I had some camo but no ship to put it on. It'd be nice to finally get to see it. Same deal for the IJN with the HSF skin for the Yamato, but one BB line at a time, my credits can only take so much abuse (I'm still trying to grind the US ones as well and the Iowa is a money-pit for Upgrades and Modules).

I want to love the German bb line, I do, but it just seems severely unbalanced. It’s detection is way too high for a ship that needs to get in close. Getting focused down working the first 5 minutes of a game just kills it for me lol. I love secondary ships, but I had to sell all my German bbs, because they just weren’t cutting it, compared to my Massachusetts. Not even close.

After spending so long working like a dog in cruisers and DDs, seeing those huge damage numbers from just my guns, having armor, and lots of HP and heals, it feels like any line of BBs I play is a vacation outside of super high tiers and your flank collapsing. I'm used to having even minor mistakes being punishable by a 1 click ticket back to the dock if the enemy capitalizes on it.

Yeah, the thing is, the BB mafia community had always the loudest voice in the forums. I used to play japanese cruisers a lot. But the Mogami for example is like a oversized destroyer nowadays. 15 km weapon range is basically close combat. You are shooting once and 3 BBS will try to delete you from the map instantly. Because of this I switched to french cruisers. Basically the better japanese nowadays.

yeah, I'm a dedicated cruiser player. Won a Tirpitz B in a box, I generally only play Co-op with it because I didn't go up the tier tree learning BBs. finally did a few random player games and in my second player game got my first ever Kraken unleashed.

@@urgentlygaming6410 Nah. It is doing quite well. People should not forget, a lot of long time players are a lot more aggressive today, because of Covid and the stress it puts on humans. I would say it is still the best WW 2 ship game out there. But the WoT and WoWs Communities were always somewhat toxic. The WoT community is even known as one of the most toxic communities in the internet. There is a reason why a lot of people are not writing on the official forum in WoT and WoWs. If you have not at least 15000 battles in WoWs you are not even considered human. So I am still playing it, having fun, but I am avoiding the official forum. Because it is a breed of hate and toxicity.

After 5 years of playing and levelling most lines fairly evenly, this year saw me get Conqueror then Yammy as my first T10 BB's. Both have their fun points and were worth the grind. Grinding Iowa and I suspect I'll end up enjoying Montana. Got to Minnesota after suffering through Kansas only to find more suffering, just in a bigger and uglier ship. I'm at T8 with all the other BB lines and sadly Bismarck just drives me bonkers with her cross-eyed gunners. Good brawler but brawling only consistently exists in Co-op (tbh, co-op is more fun than random 9 times out of 10.)

@@Raizo06 I don't play this game but I can only assume that moniker refers to the famous battleship Yamato, the biggest battleship ever built. For a comparison, the Bismarck (enormous its own right) displaced about 50,000 tons fully loaded. Yamato and her sister Musashi displaced 72,000.

Don't get your hopes up too high, the Ital line has a good chance of mediocrity. Only the T10 gets 16 guns, the T9 gets 12 and the T8 9 guns. From what I've heard, numerous compromises have been made. 1. gun calibre is stuck at 381mm. 2. dispersion is German levels of disappointment. 3. German BB's have 1.8 Sigma, Ital's get 1.5 (so far). And in case you don't know, lower Sigma values mean salvos are more shotgun, while higher means sniper. 4. reload times are slow, 33s at T8, 35s at T9 and 38s at T10. 5. AA amounts to being little better than a fireworks show. Max range of 4.6km. 6. armour looks to be around average. Coupled with guns that sound like they need to get within 12km or less, survivability doesn't sound promising.

@@ryanbrochu3336 I think you have some good points, but i can pretty much counter every one with two things: 1. small and inaccurate guns - lots (12/16 ) of SAPs. 2. Longer reload time - again, lots of guns. 3. AA - well, it is a problem but then again, which ship really has strong enough AA to counter CVs these days...But don't forget italian BBs have instant smoke so it can save you from a drop or two. 4. Armor - decent and from what i have seen there's a turtleback. 5. extra points - 360 degree turrets on the T10 BB...

Having tiered up in all BB lines except Brit...my favs are tier 9 U.S and tier 7 French. Specifically, the Iowa, Minnesota, and Lyon. A lot will be your play style, although there are certain ships that are generally very good or slugs. : )

There is a hidden 'ripping' value for HE. It's called HE blast radius, and it's how far away from the shell modules can be and still take damage. British battleships have a massive blast radius, only exceeded by the torpedoes of USS Black, and so they knock out more modules than other HE shells.

Something I respect and envy about the US line is solid firing angles for their broadside. It's quite capable on Iowa to stay pretty safe and take full broadsides at your target. Not that bad, and something worth mentioning. As for my first line, I played all the French ships out, starting with the French BBs. It was rough, let me tell you. But my time in the Alsace and rich, that made it all worth it. The smaller tier guns will take some getting used to, but all French ships are punishers, focused on spotting a mistake and throwing a powerful shotgun of shells at them. Who cares if you have 15 inch guns at T9 if you land 8-12 pens on their broadside? So yeah, would I suggest it for new players? Nope! But for someone that knows how the game works? Hell yeah!

The best ships in the Japanese BB research line are Amagi and Yamato. Amagi has good guns, a lot of guns and decent speed and is a sniper. Yamato is one of the best snipers in the game with big precise guns.

USN fast BBs have workable armor and guns, and the consumables/gimmicks are easy to use with a mobility that brings them closer to battlecruisers Soviet BBs are better than average, but are easily countered with skill and all the HE and torpedo spam Japanese BBs (and battlecruisers) have good gun-armor-mobility mix and the secondaries are workable if specced into (compared to USN) Germans have underwhelming main battery for Godly secondaries and trolly armor RN BBs are in a weird place, being strong fire starters, with adequate AP against same and low tier ships, and high survivability French and future Italian BBs seem to be relying on gimmicks and consumables USN floating islands are XP pinatas for everyone else, with a small chance of deleting someone with massive broadside

The French BB line are mobility-oriented, best focused on flanking and providing crossfire. Their speed boost consumable really isn't a big buff in speed (it's about 2-3kt on most, nothing like Georgia) although it does help their acceleration and deceleration out so they can speed juke more. The only other consumables tend to be aircraft unless you mean the Strasbourg/JB/Bourgogne with their MBRB (a consumable usually found on French cruisers and destroyers). The French line leans towards lower calibre (no overmatch) high velocity rounds that tear through armour far better than their calibre suggests, with 13.5in in mid-tier, moving to 15in at T8-T9. Their HE is decent and high velocity enough that aiming at DDs isn't a nightmare. Their tendency towards tighter vertical spread but wider horizontal spread (a squashed oval) makes them ideal for slapping broadsides with crossfire (the pattern is very good at finding a citadel or two even if you slightly misjudge the enemy's speed). They're not proper brawlers by any means but they're better in a straight brawl than a Brit or Japanese BB (better mix of armor, speed and gun penetration giving lots of citadels). The Repub's a bit of an oddity with its 17" guns and fast reload but she keeps with the mobility/flanker role and she has better penetration than Yamato at 15km and under. Her guns are can openers in short to mid-range and still scary at long range. The line really isn't meant for static gameplay (although you always see some bow-in Richelieu/JB players island camping) and are best used tearing around at speed, kiting and flanking. Like just about every other French ship line, they're made to keep moving.

Japanese BB have can fire also over long distances but the shell velocity is not high and it take ages for the shells to reach the target. Hitting moving tragets is more difficult than with other BB. At least for me, so I can also be a downside for newer players. American BB. The Diffrence in shell velocity with AP and HE makes it harder for a beginner to hit targets. When you don't know this it makes your question your aiming. USN "fast" BB? Until the Nortzh Carolina they are pretty slow and if WG would not have introduced a new USBB kine, tghey would have still been the slowest. It can be a pain grind through them because of that.

@@helloweener2007 well I used the term fast BBs because NorCaL to Monty are the true BBs in the "original" tech tree. Up to Colorado at tier 7, the ships are dreadnoughts, boasting impressive armor and broadside for abysmal mobility, which are perhaps the best definition of a dreadnought vs battleship. The original line followed the natural development of the USN BBs, with improving dreadnoughts designed to slug it out in a battle line against other capital ships in WWI, and then the paradigm switch to fast ships designed to work with task forces and provide protection to them. The new "line extension" is an insult to everything the USN stood for. These vessels were never seriously considered, they aren't even paper ships, they are inventions of wh0reg@yming inspired by the Tillman design philosophy. There are many BBs that have been built or were close to completion that could have been used for a tech tree extension, for instance a secondary based line. But alas, wh0reg@yming prefers to introduce cancerous snipers

I started off with the German line and loved it, except for the FDG, and I love my GK. The USN line is decent then from NC onwards it’s fun. The Soviet line is fun but the sides are soft.

@@carlesmeseguer8089 It's really your choice. I like secondary builds because they are excellent on german battleships. However, it might not be too efficient. Any half smart player knows not to get close to a german battleship. :P HOWEVER... it's really fun. ;)

@@carlesmeseguer8089 I can tell you what I do wrong to often because I feel the urge to push. Don't take to many ships at once. Work on one enemy, take your time to use the heal for the next one. Deal damage with your mainguns and let the secondaries start fires. Angle that your secondary can work. When your angle is to sharp, the secondary won't fire. Try to avoid HE spam. It is dealy for most of the BB but German ships don't have a good heal or a short cooldown on repair.

I have to say i stopped playing my GK, i just feel that T10 is literally the combination of HE spam, CV power, long ranged engagement, all of which are the GK weakness. Like yeah if you wait around long enough, the end game seems to be were the GK can get stuck in but every player knows that GK is an easy target at the start just to melt away. A big bag of easy damage to burn, bomb and torp. Bismarck though still incredibly effective.

Us bbs if you want a safe option with a bit of everything, Russians if you want to *tank*, the french if you wanna play a more cruiser style, Japanese if you like big guns and big numbers, German if you want to get up close and personal, and Italian if you want consistent damage with a way out if need be.

Where to begin. What makes a good bb player? There are several specialties Sniping is arguably the most important ability for competitive play. Mid range tanking is very useful and the most common style of BB players. Then you get to brawling close quarter fighting. This style is becoming a forgotten art. Those of us that played Germans hard when there were just 3 lines have those skills when needed. It's not about secondaries although it is about knowing who to select for secondaries and when to switch to a new higher threat in an instant. It's knowing which ship to angle from yet knowing when to say screw it the expected torps are going to hurt more. It's knowing what speed to select when to hit the rudder when to pre turn your guns how to juke a guys savo at point blank and knowing where to hit every ship there is and the split second window you may get to fire. I have every line but you reach a point where you realize given a choice what you can play, most ships you won't touch. Japan Yamato is hands down my choice to play in the tech line. The kongo is fun but my choice for a OP tech ship in low tiers is the T4 Myogi her speed at that tier is disgusting her guns actually hit their targets for me its an easy kraken ship. Musashi is my go to t9 boat its less accurate than Yamato but so what it hits just as hard and the less accuracy makes her more accurate. You have a dd or light cruiser fleeing from you this is not an easy shot but you fire your shot gun he can not avoid them all because there is no pattern to it and then you chunk them when they normally would have gotten away with that. American slow line. It sucks only one I enjoy like that is the premium t5 Texas. Wargaming doesn't pay me enough to play that other shit. American Main line. Montana is my choice along with Iowa I can jump in either of them and break 200k damage with ease. I like the Iowa more then the 2 premiums t9s. Missouri is the one I have grown to just dislike. The heal sucks the radar is useless unless you want to die. Id prefer Iowas super heal and a spotter to that any day. Georgia is fantastic in its own way. NC I have no desire to ever play same with Alabama. They are fine ships but Massachusetts is god tier 348,789 damage is the world record in that ship and thats mine. Russian I can play them but they are no enjoyable. Kremlin is lacking in range it lacking is consumables its lacking in the ability to turn and when you figure out the trick with the hitting it is to treat her like a GK. Aim above the belt and your hitting here for 10-20k a savo with AP from ships like the 15 inch gun Bourgogne and its hard to believe in the Russian bias myth. The t9 is an average BB the T6 and T7 are the Gems of the line. British line. Lion is garbage and I can't stand the conqueror why would you ever play that over Thunderer. Thunderer has like 60 m better dispersion. 4 seconds better rudder shift 10 second better turret traverse 20% higher fire chance. Yeah whats the reason for conqueror again. Thunderer can actually brawl I know Mountbatten doesn't see it but she turns on a dime and her 8 18 inch guns are the most accurate in the game and at close ranges she will out run ships like Ohio and Montana and Yamato and Kremlins turrets and then comes the kill shot. No most players don't do that but sure as hell do. Of the tech line only one I really like is the most hated of them all the Monarch. Great stealth and great reload on the guns yes they are short range guns but they are accurate and you have options when you can vanish like she can. French line is meh. I play one french BB all the time and its the premium Bourgogne. It's a sniper and a cruiser and a German bb all wrapped into one neat little package. German line thats just pain these days. The true gem is the t7 Gneisenau 730 games in her I am a 62 % win rate. Her sister the Scharnhorst is equally good its a different play style she has guns that don't do well on bb belts but no problem use AP only shoot above the belt and any cruiser you delete on sight also she can deal with DDs where Gneisenau struggles with her 6 guns. Tirpitz is another Gem after that T9 and GK just fail with where the game is. I see either of those 2 on the map at the beginning of the game I am going to shoot from ranges they cannot fight back and I am going to do 20-50k damage in a 1-2 savos and move to my next target I don't care his game is now ruined as he lost to much health to brawl shouldn't of picked that ship. The HE spanners with smell the blood in the water and then its on. He gets melted from that point on. What is the purpose of a ship that can't hit anything at range and cannot close the range because we see you from space.

Personally, I still enjoy the RN BB's the most because: - I'm British and I enjoy playing RN ships by and large. - The RN BB's, with their large healing, good handling and decent stealth, are quite forgiving for new players (like myself). I'm hoping to grind to Richelieu and NC soon and see how I find them. But I will always love QE, KGV and the premiums Hood, Vanguard and Thunderer the most (even if I currently suck with the latter two).

​@@davidandmartinealbon3155 I also do not like them, if you show broadside you are deleted. If you like bow-on fight on flanks and slowly reversing back to safety then RU line is good for you. For me that is not a fun playstyle. They are only stronk if you keep bow-on all the time and only use front guns. Slava might be OP but tech line ships can be deleted easily if you manage to flank them. This is why i slightly disagree with SLM, they are only tanky if they are bow on, i regularly citadel RU BBs from side. The German line is the best all rounder, the other lines have some certain playstyles you have to follow and they are less forgiving.

Thumbs up for a good video. However I question the timing of it. We are at the doorstep of maybe the biggest change in WOWS history, the captain skills. The new captain points will change how these ships play allot. So much so that I fear this guide will possibly lead to wrong decisions about how these ships actually play. Maybe we could see some videos where the testserver is compared with the live server? Actually see the changes and what you think about it?

I think the best beginner BB is the jean bart. Just point it towards the enemies fast reload , good projectile velocity , good cruising speed , good gun range.Too bad you cant get it anymore.

Destroyer= finesse fighter with a heavy hit that spots for the team and makes even heavies nervous just by being in the area. Battleship= Can play around in a bar brawl or the fringes, knows how to mostly slip a punch and doesn't mind a few bruises. Cruiser= Throws rocks from behind trees while using destroyers and battleships to tell them where the targets are. Aircraft Carrier= The guy that lets all his pets and drones do the fighting and scouting while trying to stay out of sight.

IMO- Russian BB line. Best line for new players IMO because you get heavy armor, good speed, a lot of HP, good range, hard hitting guns and fast turret traverse. Basically all the best parts of being a battleship player with few of the drawbacks. The limited number of charges of DC isn't really an issue either since most players only really use it 3-4 times in the game anyway, meaning the short cooldown makes it a pro. It's basically WoWs on easy mode.

Playstyle will determine which BB line is for you. If you are aggressive, German. If you are more passive and like to stay at range, Japanese or British. If you are somewhere in the middle, American or Russian. The French line is probably the most difficult line to do well in but there are some really good French BB's too. The Jean Bart is one of the best in the game. Good thing is that you don't need to choose just one line, you can have them all.

The key to grinding a line is tier ix, since you will spend a big chunk of the grind in that tier. That is why I would choose the Soviet line first and then the German. Soviet Soyuz and FDG are solid ships. Personally, the only bb line I'll regrind for the RB is the Soviet line.

I've been working up most of the DD and Cruiser lines. I'm considering actually going up farther in BBs. My highest so far is Bismarck and Richelieu. Ok I got Nebraska from the handouts, and am still in the Fuso, but overall the BB lines are just so slow and pondering. They say I play well in them, but I just feel so slow and lazy when I run them. Plus BBs are what I mostly go hunting for as sport. Ya, not a gun boat DD player. LoL I actually like playing the Nebraska, I don't get as bored, Bismarck and Fuso are not bad either. Richelieu is like Nebraska without a flight deck. I want to push one to tier ten, but not sure which one is more interesting actually at tier ten... Opinions?

You should really stress how incredibly awful is the AA in russian battleships (and soviets ships in general). Soviet BB continous AA is laughable and even fresh in battle it is still low, to make matters worse a single rocket attack from a CV destroys most AA and after that any soviet BB is a damage piñata for a CV.

If you like sniping go for it. The gun destroy absolutely everything and it is the longest range and most accurate. Downside is survivability is not as good as other bb of it's tier and poor turret traverse and overall mobility.

Edit- my favorite line is the Russian and Japanese battleships I like tanking it but stratigicly tanking it through the game. I like Russian lines all around all the Russian ships well not all just that line lots of good ships that I play well with I also can't play cv I just can't get the hang of it I've tried playing it on mobile PC and Xbox and PS4 and I still couldn't do it sometimes your just not meant to play cv. But when I do I gotta say I do the same thing I literally search for him but generally I wait until he lets his planes off I search for that and then I send it in there or around there and it saves a bunch of time

Regarding the Console version of the game (AKA: WoWs legends) these days, people just prefer to do Orgy strats as I call them which is basically: everyone goes in the same direction and gets rewarded for a low effort stratagy unless the opposing team does the same thing. This annoyingly makes German BB's obsolete now since you die too fast from concentrated fire and Gneisenau suicide strats don't even work, among other things like German battleships in late tiers often spawning away from the main Team due to some fucked up algorithm, I can only see German BB's becoming useful again if they discourage Low effort Orgy strats or Buff German BB's to where they can deal with being severely outnumbered, but let's be real: they won't If you play PC WoWs then good for you! Console WoWs is pretty fucked in terms of brains being used

The thing is... Massa, Georgia and Ohio aren't actually Tech Line ships (maybe Ohio can be since it's Research Bureau), they're really Premiums. If you compare them, maybe the North Carolina and Massa are somewhat similar (size, speed, maneuverability, guns), but after that it's pretty different (Georgia is crazy fast for a BB, and Ohio has enormous guns compared to the Montana). And having played NC and Massa in sequence lately, there is a difference in how they tank actually. NC has the huge front citadel plate, as long as you sit bow in you barely take any AP damage, but if you eat torps or fires you're dead. Massa takes more damage doing the bow-tank deal, but she has a higher torp damage reduction.

Republique is one of the best BBs. I have more damage in it than Ohio, Slava and Thunderer. Thing is, most people don't know how to play the Republique. The best build is tank build right now. Meme build is not worth it. Just fly around the map and blap broadsides after broadsides. I ranked out by just playing the Republique with 75% WR and 100k avg damage.

Wow thanks man, the video greatly discourages me since I am mostly agree with the lack of gun, but now that you point that out and the recent 3 Citadel on a volley with just 2 turret Richelieu, I am pretty sure French BB is greatly depends on speedy positioning long ranged Citadel hunt
