An aluminium power catamaran that that achieve performance, range, ocean crossing capabilities in all kinds of weather conditions, year around, is certainly a game changer. Love the concept! Love the woodwork in the cabin and in the master head. Not so much on the main deck where the woodwork seems very simple by comparison. Why does the helm have to be that high, obstructing a lot of the view from inside the main deck? This boat could certainly use a lifting hydraulic platform to both carry a tender and to serve as a beach club. Solar panels would be great! The Archipelago 47 is certainly an exciting new boat!

I think I would want to extend the hardtop to the rear of the cockpit area and integrate a davit system into it as well as more solar panels. I'd be willing to go with a pair of 300hp diesels in a hybrid drive setup like on a Silent-Yacht as well as increasing the fuel by say 50%.

Thanks for your comments, the beauty of the Archipelago is its totally customisable so all those things can be done. Its a great project from an owner who is so passionate about the boat.

Also Greenline .... Though a diesel electric hybrid system would be a great long term ... You could also run a kite sail as a back up and auxiliary crossing assist.

Really looks like an awesome design. Is probably my favorite boat out there at the moment. But please what happened to the interior design and layout? And if you do that trip up north pease make sure to put on some video footage that shows the boat going upwind downwind and with the wind and waves from a broad side in some rough weather. I hate it that almost no boat manufacturer will show you what reality is like they only show their boats in flat calm seas. Can not wait for that video.
@themarinechannel Жыл бұрын
Hi there, thanks for watching and for taking the time to comment. The boat did go on a trip north and we were invited, but due to other commitments we couldn't join the team on that trip. In terms of a sea trial the team at Motor Boat and Yachting did one recently, its a pretty comprehensive video and worth watching - here is the link kzbin.info/www/bejne/iZqwhaFsjK2fo5Y or search Motor boat and Yachting Archipelago video via Google. We've just been filming a couple of cats which we will be posting on the channel soon. If you are subscribed and have clicked Alerts it will make sure you get to know about these and other upcoming reviews immediately. Thanks again for watching, we really appreciate it

Looks like something more suitable for northern climes and seas, rather than luxury yachts intended for the Med or Caribbean. However, I would suggest more glass between stern seating area and salon. Also, some solar panels for the hotel load would be nice.
@themarinechannel2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching, yes I think that the boat is aimed at the Explorer market and indeed its sea trials are planned for more northerly seas! Stephen mentioned that the roof area provided excellent potential for solar panels, which as you said fits in with the intended use or the boat. We will mention your suggestion regarding the larger glazing as I know Stephen and the team are keen for feedback.

Was thinking the same thing. Add a flybridge, built in aft seating, small foredeck lounge between the trampoline and the cockpit, and a little square 3 foot wide garage to put electric bikes in.

No bow rail = not safe. Surprising thing to miss in an expedition vessel, I would have expected a 360 degree clip on system to safely move around the deck in rough weather.

yet...I think the "starting" price in the £5,000 range seems too high?
@TheBobChef2 жыл бұрын
yet... today, the new hydrotechnology tends to reduce to the maximum our friction with the surface of the sea, hence considering the technologies of the "foils", a reality, less friction more speed, soon the concepts of our relationship with the sea will change if we really want to renovate, there will be no more "sailors", but "airlors" ! 😂 ! I "time and the sea" inspires us to understand, accept and reflect on a good moment of the relationship of our limits, always highlighting the safety aspects, so that in our interaction on board with our family and friends it is a moment of tranquility and happiness, above all! But with a helmet all day is kind of tormenting!

The design is quite interesting, as it is a catamaran without a sail! They can take flight, against the wind! But I'm very curious to see how it behaves in the waves because there are countless supports at different points on the 2 hulls and they are independent joined by a structural element, and the sea doesn't always have the characteristics of a lake! ! It's a challenge as the twist between the 2 floats must put a lot of strain on their structural form. A displacement in the water from 15 knots forces passengers to use safety accessories and some physical support to avoid accidents, they may have to wear a helmet even when they take a shower, imagine at 28 knots! If the boat was made of Steel, the property of the "Iman" could still be used on the shoes...hahaha! But without a doubt, its design is inspiring. I would like to watch "videos" of your performance sailing in some sea conditions! Another detail, I hope they have installed an escape hatch at the bottom of the floats, in case the boat capsizes, a very common feature in sailing catamarans.
@michiganengineer86212 жыл бұрын
Sunreef has some power cats in this size range (and larger) with hundreds of thousands of miles under their keels as do Silent-Yachts, Horizon and several other companies. Admittedly those other yachts are all composite hulls so they have more "flex" built into them than a metallic hull does, but power cats have a good track record overall. If the Captain has the least amount of sense as far as the weather is concerned, any wave (even a beam sea) that hits the hull isn't going to shove it sideways an inch. As far as capsizing, the CofG is low enough that it shouldn't be an issue even under severe weather conditions. There is no rigging high up to catch the wind and help lever the boat over. Besides it _looks_ like it has a beam in the 20 - 24 foot range which would make it even harder to flip unless you (as the Captain) do something REALLY boneheaded. I do agree that I'd love to see some sea trial videos of Hull #1 as well.

Great idea for sure....but if you look at the functional details of daily living, you can quickly see this boat is "missing" someone with the critical thinking skills to successfully pull off a great LIVABLE boat. No kick in the kitched cabinets? Really? 90 degree back on the seating behind the helm - boy that's comfy ; ).....and these observations came from just a small glimpse of this vessel....I'm a professional designer in another profession, but IF you understand design, you understand how humans relate to space is U N I V E R S A L . You all need a designer!!..............good luck with this boat.
@themarinechannel2 ай бұрын
Thanks for your comments. This was hull #1 and in many ways a prototype. They are built to your specification so it is down to the owner to specify the design of the interior.
@kentuckydurbin35252 ай бұрын
@@themarinechannel Sorry, but that is NOT a recipe for success, rather a way to collect money from novice design/owners. Design is NOT just achieved successfuly by anyone. In my profession, I'd estimate that about 5% of the total pro's "get it". I think that most likely is a good number from most designers, perhaps outside of interior designers, who in reality are applying veneeers to space.........I'm in my 5th decade of practice, so I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that I KNOW what I'm talking about.....and as noted, good luck with your business.....We ALL can't strive for lofty goals, since very few want that...Sadly, mediocre results are the way of the world.
