Focal got the idea of what consumers want. They understood the science and answered resoundingly. Kudos. These are STATE OF THE ART, In form and function.

I was excited to see these speakers this wireless set up from vocal, and I found a whole presentation to be rather unappealing thin and I put it down to the room and venue. It just didn’t have enough weight in my opinion, but I can see that this is a very popular trend and audio in the lifestyle Section
@dilbyjonesАй бұрын
exactly most high earners dont have time to learn the intricacies od high end audio this gets them the 90% that counts in fact I wouldnt even call it lifestyle. I think this company has hit its stride.
@carminedesanto6746Ай бұрын
@@dilbyjones fair point …but the conventional set ups sounded way better. I think they should have gotten one of the larger rooms ..not the open venue.

I am sure this has been tuned. Knowing this is possible with the built in dsp means flexibilty to get it to sound to your taste. I would like to know what tuning this looks like and if you can really get specific to your taste.

the concept of DSP is fantastic but from the active DSP speakers ive heard at the show ive never been impressed. 8C ok, Kii threes good, KEFs ok. cant remember the rest.
@jakeslavin9355Ай бұрын
Love active speakers. I think a lot of the hate comes from cutting corners on cheaper models. Do it right (inert cabinet, TOTL drivers, high end DSP) and make them look good and they are killer. Too bad they cost $40k but the price probably is justified.

They have the advantage of low noise and absolute channel separation. Nice control. They do seem a bit lean and cold, which makes sense for the size and all the stuff they had to cram in there.
@bradburnside7644Ай бұрын
Active crossovers serving separate driver volumes combined within a totally inert cabinet without diffraction is the future IMHO. Meridian pioneered this approach years ago, and their new DSP9 delivers a new level of performance with 1,260 watts built in.
@FirstTimeVoter2024Ай бұрын
Agree. I am looking for real innovation. Kinda done with mdf cabinets. This is a conversation piece as well. Love that you can switch panels so things stay fresh.

Meridian does not get deserved credit for their DSP controlled active speaker breakthrough technology. This approach is the future of HiFi.

Geez, Focal Diva is making a strong case for the "new wave " of a one package speaker system. For an old timer like me (64) it's a hard pill to swallow. Yes, I know, the multiple built-in amps to power each driver, will likely be toast within five years. The dsp processing will be ancient within three. Nonetheless, to equal or surpass the sound quality of the Diva system a lot more mula would be necessary.

Do the have solid Soundstage & Imaging? Only Jason can answer this question
@user-od9iz9cv1wАй бұрын
I had the same question. Might just be my imagination but to me they lack some of the low level spacial cues that I look for. How can two channels have the same level of timing as a wired solution. Once I thought about it the sound was kind of dead. Could just be me imagining it but it was there.
@goodsound4756Ай бұрын
Are they as bright as earlier models?
@JamesWilliams-gf8gmАй бұрын
IMO focal nicer speakers stopped being bright when the Sopra line came out. They were always on the bright side before that. Now more or less neutral. Their lower end stuff is still bright and terible.
@bradburnside7644Ай бұрын
I would describe the Meridians as “dynamically neutral” with a natural-sounding FR, not bright. Don’t know about the Focals.
@psyphonyxaudioАй бұрын
No - better balanced. Much more pleasing without losing the details. Better with dedicated amps and engineered crossover points.

@FirstTimeVoter2024Ай бұрын
Ya I get that. More fun to swap out units. There is also something to be said when you have active with built in dsp where you can play till your hearts content and place anywhere. I am not sure at $52k though.

I feel like they solved the bad Naim/Focal association. On the other hand, the room does not highlight these speakers.

Yeah pricy for sure. The tricky part about something like this is you can’t piece it together one part at a time. You have to go all in for the “system”. My system cost more than these but I bought it one $5-$10 piece at time over the years. Not sure I would have the patients or money to go all in at one time.
