well then again when snowman was sold (a mistake, he bought him back XD) he kept jumping the fence and coming back to his original owner (Nick Skelton) And so they added another pole, he came back. then they tied a tire to him. he managed to jump the fence with an extra pole and a tire tied onto his shoulders and still make it back. WOAH I NEVER THOUGHT HORSES COULD JUMP THAT HIGH. He's a beautiful horse too. That must have taken a lot of practise and falls
@serena-pk5zp4 жыл бұрын
i think they actually dont practise at this height before doing it, its not fair on the horses to be jumping that high multiple times. even once is hard on their legs and they dont want to be doing it a lot for practice. theyre prob jumping a bit under this height for practice. imo its ok to do it once but i dont think that its reasonable to make a horse continuously jump at or near that height, they arent built for it and its pretty harsh on their legs on the landing.

@Another Headache The Australians had these high jump competitions at many official shows early last century. Great care was taken to have official measurements and records. Some of Australia's High Jump horses were sold to the UK and at least one I know of performed presentation jumping at Wembley in the mid 1930s and jumped the then English record of 7'7". These High Jump competitions were banned in Australia in 1949 due to pressure from the RSPCA.. As far as I am aware, the record for those competitions stands at 8'6" (is that 2.69 meters, the 1971 Hooves and Horns article I read has it as such?). It was performed by a "clumper" type of horse, once known in Australia. Most likely a Suffolk Punch cross gelding named Gold Meade. He was trained in NSW by the King Bros, who trained other 8 foot horses at the time. In 1948 he was ridden by Jack Martin from Kyogle NSW to his win over the 8'6" height in Cairns QLD. To quote the article: "...He scattered about 5 or the 9 bars, but as the top one was among those left standing he was officially, and correctly, credited with the world record.". The record for the equestrian high jump stands at 8ft 1in (2.47m) and was achieved by Captain Alberto Larraguibel Morales riding Huaso ex-Faithful in Chile in 1949. Not this person and their horse.

There were no independent witnesses that day and photographic evidence doesn’t show the take off side so could have been higher than the landing. Seems funny it’s not been bettered or matched since.

That’s absolutely a sadistic and unfounded and negative comment. This horse was a God. Absolutely loved this and if you watch again he had zero hyper flexion coming off the fence. None. He was conformationally correct and strong and had the want to do it. It’s so few horses ever asked to this. And so let me ask you this- you think it’s for money? You realize he probably won 15k usd and the horse is worth 7-900,000k? Why would anyone ruin a horse worth a million dollars to make what’s probably 10k after you pay your travel expenses etc. Not everything is abuse. Like I wear spurs and you probably would think I am abusing my horse? No I am proving to anyone watching that I can ride in any type Of spur and it never touches my horse because my equitation is so strong. Same reason finished cowboy horses almost go in a knife spoon bit. You think it’s cause the person is abusing the horse. No that’s wrong. Just showing up in such a bit proves you never ever touch your horses mouth. We take world class care of world class horses. We don’t abuse horses. They are our best friends, business partners and heroes.

*Somehow it’s AMAZING to see how high the horse can jump but I still feel sooo freaking bad for the horse it lands pretty bad I think...just think about....but still amazing and cool!*

Don’t feel bad for the horse! The horse actually started jumping on its own and kinda asked the owner to train jumping, the horse was wearing protective bandages around his legs and since jumping that high wasn’t a regular activity it wasn’t damaging! If you’re interested in the horse there’s a documentary about it called Harry & Snowman

This might not still be the world record - records are, after all, made to be broken - but it remains the UK record and it will never be broken because it is the last record to be set over the old sloping poles. The vertical red wall was introduced not long after.

Whoever says that this hurts the horse are wrong I can see where u r coming from but this horse is a jumping horse and is build for this kind of jumps the rider had no intention of hurting his horse and this was a popular showjumping competition so if it would hurt the horse it wouldn’t have been pit in there in the first place

DAY6 ASTRO BTS My Day AROHA A.R.M.Y it might not of hurt the horse when it jumped the jump. But that horse is going to have serious damage from the amount of strain put on its legs.
@rubina.m074 жыл бұрын
Jasmine Findlay no actually no offense the horse never had problems because the horse was wearing the leg boots which protect its boots and he didn’t do this everyday
Well lucky for him, he doesn’t jump like this at home.

What a HORSE!!! 🌟🌟🌟AMAZING!🌟🌟🌟 (And yes, you can have loooong conversation about the skill of the rider/abuse of the horse. But all that is a background chatter when compared to the fact of how super SPECIAL and BEAUTIFUL this horse is!!!)
