that's the thing though. In IL timing the cutscene doesn't count since timing begins when the character gains control of chief but you still have to watch the cutscene every attempt to be able to submit it. It's kind of a weird rule

@@Kbdgaming3 Yeah that rules really stupid. Had to delete a run during the original reveal skip days because recording started off the checkpoint before getting out of pelican. What added more salt to that was my checkpoint got accused of being 'cheated/custom' even though its the exact same checkpoint anyone gets normally in 343gs. edit- my experience was pre-HCM

I think I heard Garish himself say it in a stream that most runners do so as a lucky charm - kinda superstition, that if they would be cheerful and happy about a run or a tech being too succesful, the rng gods will frown upon them

It's always so funny when they say "guess nobody's home," you clip above the room, and then they all get massacred lmao. Also, the grav lift wave fight right before that is always so satisfying. Congrats on this run!

Imagine being a marine in that situation - You've heard some rumours about the Master Chief massacring several squads of marines awaiting rescue in a nearby valley but that can't be true, you're watching the man himself absolutely DEMOLISH several waves of Covenant coming down the lift within mere seconds, including a pair of Hunters in a single sniper shot to the back each from point-blank range, thinking "Hell yeah with the Chief there's nothing we can't do, we got this!" Then immediately on entering the ship the Chief throws some grenades, crawls under a nearby Wraith, and then is nowhere to be found while you and your entire squad get slaughtered

The save is done before you get control, should absolutely count IMO. In other games that has an unskippable cutscene in the time they just add on the cutscene's time on top of the run since that's already known

This run is incredible, and deserves recognition. But Garish has been doing a lot of Truth and Reconciliation ILs using checkpoint manager to skip the cutscenes, knowing full well that any PB he got would not be able to be submitted on Haloruns. It’s not like the rule came out of nowhere. Every person who has grinded this level and submitted it to Haloruns has had to watch the cutscene from the beginning over and over every time. Again, amazing run and hats off to Garish. But no, I don’t think we should suddenly create a rules exception when everyone else has been having to watch the cutscene when they run the level

Leaderboard rules have always been incredibly aggravating to me. For instance, DOOM Eternal has no NG+ category despite people asking for it because the moderators have decided "There's not 'enough' demand for it." I've always just been a fan of making your own rules and not caring what some "moderator" says.

Curious about your stance if this was used on Library start instead of TnR. On library, if you watch the entire intro cutscene you spawn in a different place than if you skip the cutscene. Its about 1.5 seconds faster to watch the entire cutscene. I don't care about HR rules, I don't even use the site, just curious.

No, we can not pause in CE to change settings. CE is RTA-LOADS. Halo 3 and reach has always been timed theater which does not count pauses. ODST and 4 are timed PGCR, so that also does not count pauses.

This is an incredible run and Garish deserves a ton of credit. That being said, he knows the rule and was well aware that any IL run he did in this way would not be allowed on the leaderboard. Wouldn’t be fair to suddenly change the rule for him. Cambid who has the record on the site, grinded this level for a long time having to watch the cutscene over and over again.
