Amazing about Robert is that he completed this huge mural in 20 days! And his ability to include a humanity and passion in the mural is really amazing. I am most "moved" by the eyes of Ohtani, clearly showing a pureness of Ohtani's personality.

Congratulations, Mr. Robert Vargas, muralista extraordinaire. This Sansei knows East L.A. well. Indeed, his Nisei father Joel K. Hamamoto was one of the co-developers of El Mercado de Los Angeles, which today stands as a proud community institution.

These “fans” making a big deal about Ohtani today don’t even watch the game. He was right down the street in Anaheim for six years and most of these people never even heard of him. Give it a year or two and the hype will calm down. That said, Ohtani is an amazing player. One of a kind and will undoubtedly be an asset to the team. Having said that, this hype is 100% about marketing and these sheep are eating it up the way sheep do.
