As a therapist of many years, Marissa has really inspired me , I agree with all she says, I now treat the root cause of all my clients issues and sometimes they are cured within just a few sessions sometimes just one or two, no therapy should go on for years.

YEW !!! Tracey, I'm a massive fan of Marisa's work too....it's truly incredible huh? The shifts that can be created in a short amount of time when going back to the root cause/memory/exchange that triggered a behaviour/though pattern/belief/habit. Pretty radical hahahaha.

Couldn't agree more Tracy! I'm also a therapist, and refuse to keep clients in therapy for longer than 2 or 3 sessions. Most times I'm able to get results within one session using EFT 'tapping'. Marisa is revolutionising therapy standards, which is much needed today! I love her exceptional work, and the simplicity too - she makes total sense.

Thanks Tracy ! I agree. I have been studying Counselling and Trauma Informed Practice and wholeheartedly concur. And I honestly believe that a majority of clients prefer to have a tangible healing/resolution timeline if possible - which as you mention, can be subject to vary. I even happened to get immense value from a Counselling relationship/interaction that lasted only a few sessions ! What I appreciate about Marisa is how practical and useful her advice tends to be, and presented in a way that most anyone can understand. I have heard some therapists use too much jargon or concepts that are difficult for clients to understand, much less use.

Thank you for the humbling feedback.Sister ! Really appreciate it. I'm currently being coached by Eckhartt Tolle too and I've noticed this commonality between the 'sage' like individuals... Their message is so clear and simple for Marissa it's 'Youre Enough' and for Eckhartt it's 'Be Here Now's... The simplicity, I resonate with you, in the past I have found frustrating and over time I've come to appreciate that the truth is always really simple and it's the human condition to want to over complicate things. Also, going deeper on that, there-in lies the gold of the teaching of these 'sage's' (my language haha) that their truth universally addresses so much of what you could ask/refer to them for and about. It's subtle but continual exposure to this phenomenon of simplicity of the truth is no less remarkable in fact it's a deep lesson and quite awe inspiring for me in itself. Thanks again for sharing in the love sister !

She is so incredible and the only therapist I’m finding to help me keep going. Iv been passed around so much. I dont think my mindset and life would have been able to change without her way of dealing with this. I pray I could speak to her personally one day. Thank you for this video. She keeps me going to get the “help” down here to take on board her way of dealing with things. I was passed all the way through CAMS (which down here in Bournemouth Iv seen it’s been getting more attention in the news to child’s mental health team in England) and then on to cmht the aldult services and ypeds (young persons eating disorder services) I was put in a psychiatric hospital when I was 14 with complex Anorexia which I should have been put in a eating disorder clinic and I suffered horrendous amount of maltreatment throughout the years and suffering with rumination syndrome which actually is very much curable. There’s so much I wish to talk to her about!

I love Marisa although I have a bit of a hard time embracing some of the things she insists will work . For example , no amount of telling myself that I like my job or my life situation is ever going to work for me. I know she says that once it becomes familiar that we will gravitate towards it but something being familiar doesn’t mean we like it. That’s why so many of us hate our jobs that we have been stuck in for years. Now I’m not saying that we are not grateful for those jobs because gratitude is separate from happiness about it. I’ve been single for a very long time and therefore familiar with it and I’ve been miserable because of being alone at age 42 currently. I’ve also never ever had financial abundance and do not make enough to save or invest into another venture. I’d like to be self employed with a very good and reliable income doing something that I at least didn’t hate if not like or love (my ideal job would be to be a voice over actress on an animated sitcom for one of the major networks) but you know the saying , you need money to make money. I feel SO stuck and helpless and hopeless because I feel I will only ever scrape by and that this will be my nightmare for as long as I live. I also am petrified of being single much longer but I cannot seem to find someone who is available and mutually attracted to. I’m terribly depressed about so many things but being single and broke are my two biggest things making me utterly miserable . There are so many things I’d like to do but everything comes at a cost. I also want to help my parents so bad and relieve some of their financial stress in their old age but how the heck do I help them when I am barely surviving each month as it is? My sanity is being pushed every single day but I cannot see a way out. I wish I could be one of Marisa’s client. I am depressed because of circumstances not because of a chemical imbalance.

SleeplessinOC, I've struggled with depression for decades. Like you, I didn't believe my depression was due to chemical imbalance. Many people told me to go to psychiatrists for anti-depressants. As much as I hate pills, I gave them a shot... multiple times. The pills never lifted my depression; they just gave me side effects. I've only recently discovered Marisa Peer & have been binge watching her interviews. I've started a journal to put my thoughts on paper, which makes me SEE what words I'm using to communicate with myself. It's been really eye opening & transformative. *May I suggest as an exercise that you review your post above to see what words you're using to communicate with yourself?* As Marisa says, "You can choose to be negative or positive in the way you communicate with yourself. What you CAN'T choose is the effect those negative pictures & words have on you & your body. Every thought you have has a physical reaction in your body & an emotional response. You can change the pictures & the words. Tell your mind exactly what you want, using really detailed, descriptive, positive, powerful words." Wishing you well 🙏

I Am a Compulsive Hoarder I understand that I’m using pretty negative descriptions but I don’t know how else to be authentic about the way I feel . I’m exhausted from trying to not letting myself get too anxious and panicked each day as the fear that I will never improve my circumstances . I’m exhausted from having to work a pretty poor paying job 10-11 hours a day because I don’t have the luxury of time and money even after all those hours to invest in any other ventures that might afford me autonomy and better income . I’m petrified that I will not meet someone mutually suitable and my age just complicates things that much more in a world where dating someone who seems to be a good match is challenging enough , never mind throwing in things like ex wives and kids and not wanting more kids. I feel excessively old but still somehow wish to have my own baby but I can’t imagine a semi normal man who if by some miracle I meet and am mutually attracted to would be receptive to the idea of kids at my age and who might be done with that phase of his life. As you can see , my despair is overflowing. I wish to god that I at least didn’t have to worry so much about my livelihood because it’s anxiety and stress for me 24/7 and then you throw in not having a special someone to that emotional stew, it challenges my sanity every single day. I have tried lying to myself that I don’t care if I don’t have anyone but I cannot fool my heart as it still feels the pain no matter what I try to tell myself . I appreciate your suggestions and will try to start a digital journal but I have a hard time believing that just changing my words will make me feel less miserable about my circumstances because I feel the effects every single day of financial deprivation and of being single when I don’t want to be. Thank you. Can you tell me though how your everyday life has changed since listening to Marisa and keeping a journal ?

SleeplessinOC, listening to Marisa and keeping a journal to “see” the words that I use has enabled me to view my situation from a different perspective - one that has hope. Something she said to a very sad, desperate teenager whose life was pretty bleak resonated with me: “This is your life today. But it’s not your life. It’s just your life TODAY.” This made me think of things I could do to change my circumstances. You described “the fear that I will never improve my circumstances.” The words FEAR and NEVER IMPROVE are one side of the coin; on the other side are CAN and WILL IMPROVE. While you may be truly exhausted presently because of your work situation, it doesn’t mean it will be your situation forever. You say you’re “PETRIFIED you won’t meet someone mutually suitable.” PETRIFIED means you’re so frightened you’re UNABLE TO MOVE. If you tell yourself you’re unable to move - you’re telling yourself NOT to make a move towards meeting someone. And that’s the energy you put out. Isn’t it possible there’s a man out there who is ALSO older and ALSO hasn’t met a good match yet and ALSO wants children? If you use the words “I CAN'T imagine” meeting a good match, you’re essentially telling yourself that such a match doesn’t exist. And why would you take action towards something you’ve already told yourself doesn’t exist? Describing yourself as “OVERFLOWING with DESPAIR” feeds the despair. When we’re consumed with despair, that’s the energy we put out. People pick up on that energy, and it’s natural for people not to be attracted to despair. I’m not saying that you don’t have reason to feel despair about things in your life. I certainly have my fair share of moments. But in order to get to a better place, I have to believe that it’s possible to get to a better place. So I’m using language with myself that conveys that to my brain. Even though I'm still alone - I’ve found myself smiling at strangers on the street. And it feels nice 🌻 There’s nothing to lose in changing your words to see what happens. Write down your current thoughts to examine the language you currently use. Make a conscious effort to change them and see what happens. I wish you the best ✨

The problem with people in general is that they want an answer for everything. There is no magic bullet. even telling yourself you’re good it might take years for it to kick in to your brain. It could also kick in tomorrow. Just have some trust in yourself. Imagine if you were in an ecstatic state all the time? Do you think you would care that you were single or have very little money? Of course not. You would just enjoy being alive. So the point is you can walk thru hell if you are pleasant with yourself. All suffering comes from inside not your circumstances. It comes because things are not happening as you want them to be. But that is an illusion, things will never happen like you want them to be!!!!! If they do it’s by accident. The only thing you have control over is how you perceive reality. If you hate your job or hate your friends or family, it is your doing. Accept it and move on. It’s just that your mind is stuck on producing horror movies for you and it’s not letting you change the channel. So.... learn to love horror movies and eventually the channel will change as it has no affect on you anymore. Accepting.

SleeplessinOC you can’t create a new life with same thought pattern you currently have that got you in the current situation. You have to shift your mind and be fully satisfied with where you are. Because joy brings advantageous situations people etc etc Miracles are born from joy
