I totally support magic reveal videos because it forces magicians to be creative and make new complex tricks
@kingrundzap22106 жыл бұрын
When the secrets to magic tricks are revealed, it's interesting to me how very simple they usually are--but unless you're a pro or it's a serious hobby, it's still so difficult to guess just how someone did a trick until it's revealed. Anyway, there's still a ton of art to the performances of illusionists even once you know how a trick is done. It takes a lot of skill and creativity to do (and design) these things so that it's entertaining and the illusion is preserved.

incase people are wondering how the david copper field disappearing statue of liberty trick was done. The audience were sitting on a very large plat form that rotated extremely slowly. So the statue of liberty was actually hidden behind one of the pillars and the audience were just facing in a different direction. They just didnt notice the movement of the platform that took about 20 mins to rotate.

Another explanation is that they switched off all the lights inside the statue and the bright stage lights tricked the audiences’ eyes that the statue had disappeared.
@hojofam5 жыл бұрын
Actually, I believe it was simpler than that. If you look out a large window from your house at night and have your lights on, you see your own refelction. If you turn the lights out, you see what's outside in the dark. I've watched that clip from my old VHS tape multiple times, and I believe they simply turned off the lights on Ellis island. The "searchlights" are not really searchlights, and any cutaway scenes with helicoprters were not live (not claimed to be live). Bright lights in the audience's eyes increases the contrast (tried to look BEYOND any oncoming car headlights to what's behind it? Can't as it cuases your pupils to constrict)

I would hope that individuals would understand that Magic is a performance art, it really isn't about fooling people or tricking people into thinking it is real. Any more than you know a movie isn't real, if the magician is good he will be telling a powerful and moving story along with the Magic. What happens is people let their ego get involved instead of just enjoying the show. Magicians truly are guarding an empty chest.
@kotsios5556 жыл бұрын
I don't understand where the ''powerful and moving story'' is coming from. A magic trick is usually a quick stunt that it's purpose is to shock or surprise the audience.
@innocentjackson20036 жыл бұрын
MyITRcom this so true,it’s our own ego to agree coz the don’t to intend to be real it’s just an intertainment we all know that it’s just something that can’t happen in real life that’s why is call magic,I can describe it as self fooling
@mahms0126 жыл бұрын
The only issue is that whilst we are clearly told a movie is staged, a magician on the other hand indicates that what he does is the truth. They take over the audience because of their own ego of being supernatural and different to others; when all they are doing are creating illusions. Magic is defined as being influenced by supernatural forces which the so called "magicians" do not possess. This is also the fact why, a magician never reveals its secrets, because then it loses the power to decieve people of his supernatural abilities. The power of awe behind a magician's act comes from the act being outside the influence of a human being, but once it's trick is revealed, it just turns into a prank. Albeit, i would have to agree that some magicians make a living by doing such tricks ,whilst others just thrive from deceiving and not actually intending to make people laugh or entertain for that matter.

I am really glad to see this! Even though I won't be able to be shocked in awe by magic any more I would rather have my mind realize what is behind the illusion. I can always allow my mind to still enjoy the illusion, just like how you can allow your mind to play with an optical illusion. I prefer to understand what is behind things so as to be informed so I am not scammed when it matters. I think the main thing this video made me realize is the premeditated aspect. The mind sees something happening but doesn't think of some apparatus that I am not aware that is hidden has been set up ahead of time. I prefer the peace of seeing how my mind can be fooled than the confusion of not knowing. It's still ingenious and skillful to learn to create the illusion in a way that shocks people. Some magicians are incredible in their skill level so I don't think this ruins magic it just gives me a chance for my brain to realize something is always set up so even without it being shown can I internally visualize what it could it be? All things are explainable. Thank you so much for this video!

Look at the table where copperfield cut his body into two. And look at the table where you said the trick was done. Try to compare before saying you revealed if its a trick or maybe....... Not!
@mandolinic6 жыл бұрын
Ogie Guinto So, what are you saying? Copperfield really cut himself in two? The real secret of the trick isn't in the details of the table, different magicians use different tables, but the fact that there are two people, folded up in ways that you wouldn't normally expect people to fold - but then magicians recruit thin and lithe assistants, who are capable of bending into strange positions. No doubt some magicians use dummy legs, but they're not as realistic as a real person's legs. The trick has been around for at least 150 years, and the gimmick hasn't changed in all that time.
@ogieguinto5246 жыл бұрын
Of course its a trick... But what i said is to compared what you revealed. You reveiling copperfield magic. But not his platform where he do the tricks.
@soeby816 жыл бұрын
I agree with the copperfield thing and also a few of the others were sketchy... but the 'reveal' of the copperfield trick showed a table where it was obvious that there was space for the torso on one side and legs on the other - in the actual copperfield trick, there was no space for either... And yes, I know magic is illusion and i love to see it and i love to see how its done, it doesn't take anything away from it for me, i actually always look for the illusion and sleight of hand when seeing magic - but in this case, Copperfield just did his trick better than your 'reveal' and thus the reveal kinda blew ass... no comparison between the two...
@OfLegendBorn6 жыл бұрын
I don't know where Copperfield's legs are but the lower body half table is clearly thick enough for a thin person to be folded in half. In other words their torso is laying inside all the blackish portion you see at 6:05, with their face toward their toes. It IS different than what is shown in the artist's rendering, but is along the same idea. Where Copperfield's legs are is another matter, but it's kind of hard to see clearly because of the quality of the video.

Same principal but Copperfield hides legs in the table itself, you can see that it is layered in a way to make it look thin but all the layers actually adds up to a thick table. Legs are either fake or a really fleksible person.
