Excellent fish-frying tips, thank you. Especially the tip about letting the fish cool down a little in a strainer instead of on paper towels. No doubt that keeps the fish nice and crisp instead of it turning soggy from the 'sweat'. I'll do that next time!

I use the same breading. But I like to put two bags of fish fry in a gallon freezer bag. Then when I’m done I’ll put the breading in the bag, right into the freezer. Use it two three times and replace. Helps keep the mess down. Awesome video! Tight lines and god bless!

Your videos are always well-presented and informative. Thanks! Should filets be at room temp before breading? For a nice little kick, do you ever marinate filets in hot sauce an hour or two before breading? Yummy! Love me some crappie fillets, and I use that same breading sometimes too! In a pinch we go 1 part flour, two parts cornmeal, add some salt, cayenne, onion powder, etc. but as for store bought breading, I prefer just what you’re using there. Ha ha, watching this your voice turned on my Alexa! Those are some nice fillets man. Delicious. Great tip on the strainer! Never seen that before! I discovered Louisiana fish fry mix a few years ago, I saw it at Walmart and tried it out. It's really good stuff, sticks to the fish well without egg wash and double-dipping. I like your method of breading the fish in a bowl, you get even coating and it doesn't come off when you're frying it. I hate coatings that come off, it dirties up your oil and the uncoated fish gets tough when fried. It works great for any fish and it's easy to use for shore lunches/camping too. I caught a mess of crappie yesterday through the ice, going out for more in a couple of hours, and they're going to be fried just like this tonight. I enjoy your videos, looking forward to watching more.

No need for milk and eggs those are a waste. I've done this with fish and I've worked restaurants where a water bath and seasoning mix is used for frying shrimp. A Cajun myself we learn to slather a thin layer of mustard on the fish before coating to give it some needed thickness if desired and it adds a nice color too. That's the method the wife and I use when pier fishing for 3 days at a time - we simply fry fish in an iron skillet directly on the portable charcoal BBQ pit. People ask what we are fishing for and I say Catfish, here taste.. they will take a bite and stay fishing for the rest of the day trying to recapture that goodness!

If i'm cooking a whole bunch of fish i'll put the done fillets on a cookie drying rack in the oven on the lowest setting so everybody can eat at the same time. I give the oldest fellas the fresh fried ones. And everybody else gets whats in the oven. They all really taste the same. The cookie rack keeps them from soaking in the grease.
