the rotating screen feature of all byd evs is very useful. normally i keep it at landscape as it gives me slightly better view of of the road. but on long road trips, i rotate it to portrait, and split the screen in two halves. on top half is my navigation app, and on bottom i play stream videos to keep the kids entertained.

BYD has become the toppest EV brand in China. The car in the video is 2021 version which is out of date. BYD has a lot of more advanced cars nowadays. BYD sold more than 1.86 million cars last year, much more than Tesla. And sales are still growing fast. If you order a BYD car now in China, you have to wait for more than 3 month. With the production capacity growth, BYD may soon take the place of Tesla in all of the world.

And tesla sales plummeted in the last quarter of 2022. The losing year of 2023 for Tesla just began.

Not True. Tesla builds all its own battery packs, and it also builds some of its own cells. The cells it uses (in its pack) come from multiple sources. These predominantly include: LG Chem, and Panasonic. Panasonic produces cells with Tesla's GigaFactory in Nevada.

The chances of these vehicles been sold in the USA is very unlikely. Firstly they to cheap so that's major competition to the local industry. Secondly they will blame the Chinese government for spying on customers through the cars AI( as if Tesla does not do it already). Thirdly, it shows that BYD with its blade battery technology is so far ahead of the USA and other countries in producing affordable EV's for the middle class. China is doing far more than most G7 countries in the green movement as well with regards cleaning up its environment but the west always focuses on the negative. Well done to BYD.

BYD is actually mostly a mainstream automaker, and that's why they're selling so many cars. NIO is the Chinese EV company that focuses on the high end, and they make very sleek looking cars, which also have swappable batteries. Li Auto is another startup high end EV maker, which focuses on luxury SUVs. Although BYD is not branching into the luxury space, with their Denza brand and their new high end luxury Yangwang brand.

Every screen that sticks out like this in all cars should rotate. The driver should be able to choose what way the screen is orientated and when they park and watch a streaming app they could ask that app to play in landscape mode and then the system would remember how the driver likes certain apps to be used.

Fun fact: The steel used for the frame is made very soft in an effort to reduce weight. If you hit a pot hole your axle will break quite easily. There are many more problems with BYD vehicles but they are mostly just in China so all the videos from owners are in Chinese posted to Weibo.

i ve driven the car last week, very good car impressive to drive great handling and great comfort, drives similar to a model s. there are only a few let downs. the software from the infotainment is not great, buggy and needs refinement, no matrix lights, the boot is a joke compared to a model s as well as the charging speed. if the car gets 800v with up to 350kw charging speed like with hyundai and kia and they change the infotainment a bit more towards tesla i will buy one. i love the design, in and out, i love the attention to detail the big electric sunroof. the dynaudio soundsystem could be better, the dirac soundsystem in the tanq is way better.

With the price of US cars, if it comes to the States it better come to Canada. PS: I think it is a given it is coming to North America in 2023. Their SUV looks nice too. Also it is described as the first Chinese Auto Company in the US.

While I would like to say, good review, one is more inclined to say, Good advert. I may have missed it in the advert, but was anything mentioned about the range? This is more important to drivers than landscape or the portrait of the screen and how many more of these cars were sold than Tesla.

To correct you if you haven’t been, that was BYD total car sales you mentioned. They have yet to pass Tesla for #1 ev sales. BYD also sells hybrid cars which has the majority of their total car sales. This year however they my beat Tesla on total ev sales.
