8:58 As a Chinese, I can tell you that these birds are not crows, their are a type of cormorant called Lutzi. They are great fish catchers in the wild and being trained by fishers to help them catch fish. What the fishers do is that they tie up their neck (they can still breathe), and send them into the river. Because their necks were tied up, they cannot swallow fish, so the fish stayed inside their mouths. When they return to the boat, the fishers will take the fishes and reward them a part of it.

Fun Fact: Crows have very good memories, they can often form friendly relationships with humans and many other animals, they can even pass it down to younger generations. However if you get on a crows bad side they will hold a grudge on you for the rest of your life. This has even lead to crows and owls to have a on sight relationship. Many believe that due to the owls predatory nature and crows social structure is the cause of this strange behavior.

The photo is from the North-East of Afghanistan along the border with Pakistan. The range you are seeing at the background is the Hindu-Kush range which sits on the border of both Pakistan [North-West] and Afghanistan [North-East]. I don't know for sure but I think the fire is self extinguishing. Because the fire is being started at many points in the field it uses its fuel up too fast.
