Wow, loads of comments, so firstly thanks to everyone who took the time to watch, but just to clear a few bits up. This isn't designed as a replacement to fishing outdoors, they don't want every lake to be under cover, they don't want this to be the new era of fishing. What it is, is a classroom style environment which is safe (i.e schools, juniors and those with learning or physical disabilities are able to use it without upsetting the health and safety people) which either gives people a taste of fishing which may never have had the chance before, or through the winter when other waters are frozen or it's down right horrible to be outside the kids can carry on learning and fishing. A lot of the young anglers who started fishing here are now fishing (and doing really well!) in various clubs and open matches, so we still stand by what we said in the fact that as a tool to get people into angling, or give them a chance to try it when they wouldn't have due to whatever reason, it's brilliant and we urge you all to get behind it. Love you all Andy and Jamie

Since fishing I’ve not been in trouble with police one I’m getting in trouble at school half as much. I go to school get me heard down and get on bank as much as possible.

I understand the concept of bringing young people into the sport, but the likes of Terry Hearn and other fishing personalities are far more inspiring than sitting in a dome without the fresh air and the great outdoors. It's to get the kids away from play stations etc. More chance of them taking a interest if it warmer and out the wind and rain. They'll soon get fed up if it's raining. It might not be for you but if it gets more kids on the bank then all be it.

If you want to get kids into fishing you need to show them the more exciting methods like lure fishing or surface stalking carp both of which are banned on most commercial venues. I took my girlfriends younger sister fishing she is ten. We spent 2 hours on the float fishing for roach and she was bored stiff even though we had about 15 fish of a decent stamp then I tied a spinner on and she caught about 10 perch and loved every second of it.

Not for me as I like natural looking lakes; the wildlife and the seasonal weather is a large part of the appeal of angling for me. It is as much about the places as it is about catching fish. I would much rather have a blank day on a beautiful river or lake than a net full of easy fish on an ugly pond. Having said that, I have seen outdoor commercial waters that look less natural than this indoor pond!

Mark Coleman yeah of course it is, listen to what’s said at the start of the video “we know less youngsters are coming into the sport now and that’s a problem” the industry is having a knee jerk reaction to thinking fishing is becoming obsolete. Personally I think there’s a million obstacles in the way of a budding angler, for one it just isn’t that safe anymore, period. And kids are exposed to way more than an older person is, they actually know who the people are doing the crime and your asking them to go outside and sit at the waters edge all day, when they could be in and not worried about anything. Sad but true. And then there’s the generally patronising tone that older folk like to take with youngsters who are entering the game, I liken it to the building trade and it’s actually got pretty much the same consequence, while it’s sound to have a laugh and keep some banter rolling there comes a point where you are simply being a cxnt and making it so that person doesn’t want to work for you anymore, exactly the same thing applies to fishing, it hasn’t got so much to do with being a snowflake as much as it has about not being an idiot to someone for no reason and maybe, just maybe we would see a shift in the direction of the sport?

Reading the comments I can see and agree with a number of posters regarding "encouraging" the younger generation to fish indoors, they need to be outdoors, in the real world and not a cyber one. As technology evolves our kids evolve with it, they are more in tune with technology than they are with nature, one day they will end up like " the Borg" off Star Trek, kids of today can't function without their phone's, these day's they don't converse any more, they "text" literally when they are sat feet apart!!. Would love to drop them in the middle of a moor with just a map and compass, and no gadgets, obviously we would need to keep an eye on them....................................................obviously!!. P.S. rant over.
@northernthrifter88175 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately and this may seem extreme but they want to turn the kids into borg it's very worrying how they've quelled any common sense out of teachers and the like who should be encouraging kids to get out but the authorities want us to believe its not safe out for kids which is nonsense smart phones and xbox aren't healthy

Our sport is dying, our youth are getting more impatient by the day. If you want to get kids into fishing then places like these are essential. It’s not trying to replace fishing, it’s a classroom environment which means they can teach safely in all weathers. They have other lakes on site which are outdoors. But you try doing a risk assessment taking a load of kids to a river in the middle of nowhere, in the wind and rain.
