@@qh415 Not sure honestly. Yes, for elite runners it makes sense that WR timings would be faster on track since the top track athletes are more comfortable on the track being used to training there and having the highest quality spikes. Technically you should be able to run faster on the harder surface (asphalt) though and I believe this is the case for most amateur runners. But everyone is different.

Seriously impressed, even with the downhill. After you said you ran 4:39 recently I didn't think you had a shot.

Would have been interested to see it on the track since you mentioned your recent time of 4:39 being ran on the track. It could have been compared against that as a control for the study. Change only 1 variable (the shoes), leave all else equal, get a better idea how they affected the run.

DUDE!!!!! staying above 190bpm for the majority of that race would've seriously killed. I can't imagine how much that would've hurt

Depends on what his maximum is. I used to cycle above 210bpm for 4 minutes easily when my maximum was in the 220's. At his age mine was about 212. Now it's about 194 it would seem (or at-least, that's the highest I've recorded this year during sprint intervals) ... so yeah, now 4 minutes in 190's would kill me ha ha. But when I was in my 20's or 30's it was more do-able. Everyone's different on max HR and what they can maintain.
@bayleymassey4 жыл бұрын
@@GlenGoesOutdoors how could your max hr be anywhere near 220. Thats like the max heart rate for a 1 year old child?!
@bayleymassey4 жыл бұрын
@@GlenGoesOutdoors not even a 12 year old should be pushing past 210/212
@GlenGoesOutdoors4 жыл бұрын
@@bayleymassey No, it's not. Everyone's max heart rate is different. If you rely on the 220-age "formula" you have no idea what your max heart rate is or where your training zones are.

Holy Crap Nick! Downhill a bit or not, THAT is impressive. Totally not expecting that performance, but I shouldn't be surprised coming from one of my GOAT 800 meter runners short list!

Wow that’s impressive a sub 4 minute mile, even if it was down hill that’s still very impressive for Nick Symmonds. His heart was also was racing 200 bpm which was surprising since he kept on going
