It's their life, but seeing this you know you will read about them being dead soon and what wonderful fathers they were and so forth. I don't mean to put a downer on this, but people who take risks to this degree are just ticking out the clock. I just hope they are single men and don't leave wives and kids behind. It's good they are raising money for a good cause and no disrespect to them, I've simply seem these sorts of dardevil films and then read about them dying too many times now over the years.

Given how risky climbing Everest was at the time of first ascent, if the technology had been available to follow Hillary and Tensing. I wonder if you would have had a similarly critical observation. There's a reason something is labelled "first" in the field of human endeavor. That is because some human made the very judgement you cite, but did it anyway. Some call that stupid and too risky, some call it an expression of the human adventure.
