World’s Largest Iceberg Just Fell Off Antarctica

Күн бұрын

A giant slab of ice recently sheared off from Antarctica, and scientists are calling it the largest iceberg in the world. Images of the berg, known as A-76, were captured by a satellite from the European Space Agency. A-76 is over 1600 square miles, which makes it bigger than the state of Rhode Island. A-76 is now floating in the Weddell Sea, off of Antarctica. It joins the former largest iceberg in the world, called A-23A, which is also found in the Weddell. #InsideEdition

@@justflex6745 Its funny because were really only using about a 100 years worth of data when they talk about climate change. Yet the researchers looking at the thousands of years worth of ice data havent once implied climate change is affecting overall temps or co2 levels. Besides the ice records wouldnt include past warming events if the ice was indeed melting. Not saying we shouldnt change our ways pollution can still kill us faster than the temperature rising. Air is full of smog we cant breathe we die. Need to find a balance.

Wierd, I heard most of the U.S. population is moving into the coastal states since the last census. People want that all year summertime I guess. I did think housing costs and traffic would be rising in the coastal states. I live in Michigan. Not Rhode Island, sorry.

Please don't move to Rhode Island. I've been stuck in this dump of a state for the last 17 years of my life, and everything is just calling apart. Whether it's the police system, the roads, the state government, etc. And we do get bad heat waves during the summer too. I mean, our state at this point is known for its beaches, having a Dunkin Donuts around every corner, milkshakes (depending on where you go we call them cabinets, I don't know why), and seafood. If you do come here however, you're better off moving to a small town, where you can stay away from people for the most part. Living in Providence (the state capital) can get really pricy, and also isn't always the best/safest area to be in. I live in Warren, a town right next to Bristol. If anything, move there than an overpopulated area that can't afford any more people.

@jaanmohammed1720
@jaanmohammed1720 3 жыл бұрын
The iceberg itself doesn't change the sea level but at present condition the iceberg has its own surface area which increases the amount ice that melts so eventually as the iceberg melts the sea-level rises thats what they mean by sea level erise by an iceberg
@wolfie1g
@wolfie1g 3 жыл бұрын
@@jaanmohammed1720 no that’s not how that works. The iceberg was already in the water. The level that the water is at now will not change with it melting. You can test this on a smaller scale by noticing that not matter how much ice you have in a glass with water, the water won’t raise as the ice melts.
