One correction, they first models were not made from Pewter, that came later. The originals were an alloy of lead and tin similar to solder. At some point (I want to say late 80's or early 90's) Places like New York state banned "Environmental lead" and miniatures companies switched to Pewter.

True, but the old formula was much softer, and the newer didn't have much, if any, lead because of the new laws limiting the use of lead in consumer products. I remember the newer models were more rigid and much harder. it made converting quite a bit harder.

I am a proud owner of ~20,000 points of Imperium composed of: 1 Warlord 1 Warhound 3600 pts Astra Militarum (2.6k DKoK, 1k Scions) 9400 pts of Astartes (All Ultramarines): Almost every epic hero including legends, ~3600 pts of old infantry, 3k of Dreadnoughts) 1 Knight Castellan 1 Knight Errant and a few extraneous models, some with rules, some without (Bray'Arth Ashmantle, 8:30 I see you, Gallatus Dreadnought of Custodians, a few HH models) and I bask in it's awe... and find that the flipping greatest Heretic, the face of Chaos, MWG Dave has more than 7x my amount of Imperium in Space Marines alone! I must amass MORE! You will not beat me Dave! Mark my WORDS!!!

I havent got into 40k yet but I have what Im told is avout 80k points of skaven, 20k points of sylvaneth, and 15k points of beastmen. I wouldn't know because I dont know how to play...

I believe 200 pts of Clan Rats is roughly 40 models, characters are on the cheaper side are just under or around 100 points each so 80,000 points of skaven is around 4,000-12,000 models depending on how heavy you lean into Hellpit Abominations, Rat Ogres and Artillery... Are you sure you have that many Skaven? I mean... That's a LOT of Skaven, it should be (despite being half as many points as Dave's army) more models in total

An individual Chaos Space Marine is usually about (been a while since I checked so I should be close but not the same number) 18 points whereas a clan rat is 4 points. I believe Havoc Marines (the heavy weapons users) are around 44 points apiece. Regardless, 3/4 the model count is INSANE, you definitely have probably one of the largest skaven armies, and easily outnumber me xD

@@daringdarius5686 well thats with the sylvaneth and beastmen as well. The skaven alone are maybe 50% of whays shown in the thumbnail. I have lots of giant tree people that look like ents. Lots of giant beastmen with four arms and some throwing boulders. I have a giant skaven that looks like a cross between Diablo and a rat who I think is their leader. I also have a girl riding a horned beetle who im told is the leader of the sylvaneth.

As a fellow father of three, there's nothing like sitting down at the hobby table with the kids and breaking out the paints. My sons are 7 and 6, and my daughter just turned 4, and they all love it; collecting Orks, Space Marines, and Tyranids respectively. (I will never forget the day I helped my daughter build her Hive Tyrant and she spent all day flying it around the house making chomping noises. XD)

There's this book flea market my parents went to and they got me a comic/graphic novel of a Titan pilot in training being shoved into the pilot's seat. Then, pre KZbin, I went down the rabbit hole of 40K. It's a dark universe, but it lives and breathes. I have a few miniatures on my office book case just cause they look so freaking cool.
