A lot of groomers pay zero attention to the ears and get water in them that end up in an infection. So don't go thinking that a groomer has the answer because i've seen for myself that they are useless. Every pet owner should check their dog's ears on the regular and be on it straight away. Do NOT get water in your dog's ears. Those owner's don't deserve a pet.

I'd like to add that you can also use peroxide to spot clean blood as well. Obviously this job would be a bit to much but a few drops from a nose bleed or small cut... peroxide will lift it if you have it handy and use it quickly.

Uhm no they don't, not sure if you've ever had tubes down yourself or your dogs throat but for about two weeks after that they often get a bad cough as their through can get scratched up pretty roughly from the equipment, also anesthesia puts brachycephalic breeds at higher risk than other breeds for dying on the table. The short muzzle is not always the cause for worse breathing the biggest issue is Over breeding

I do understand that it's completely necessary that they do things the way they do on a working farm but it really was heartbreaking watching the mother being taken without any time spent with her baby right back to work in the milking Barn and seeing the sweet little calf that so needed the comfort of its mother off to the nursery to take her first step on her own. I'm glad Chris was there to welcome the baby into the world.

I love that Chris is so comfortable and confident with large farm animals. His practice sees many more of the smaller variety but it's obvious that he has no hesitation when it comes to the large ones as well. Definitely has to be a result of his previous experience. You can tell he cares to which is also important. Just another reason to love watching Bondi Vet.

My dogs HATE it, but we clean and wash their ears regularly to make sure their ears don’t get bad. They still get ear infections from time to time, their breed is prone to it, but cleaning them regularly is so easy and SO helpful!

The birth, fantastic! Very moving and emotional, (steering around the cow puns). The dairy farm was a baptism of fire, but altogether necessary to understand by feel what's there. The dairy farm was a marathon, because of the hundreds of animals. The most surprising was the huge amount of dough that dog had eaten, would never have survived without quick action. Thank You, Bondi vets! TTFN.

Hendrix: curly haired dogs typically need grooming and ears "plucked" to avoid this. But if owners let their dogs into wet environments and don't check ears, this is what you get.

I can't believe how LONG people leave their animals before seeking help. That dog with the ear infections, especially - have those people never had an ear infection to know how uncomfortable that is?? Weeks with that misery?! And the dog with the mouth warts... wouldn't you seek medication for him after seeing the first one? Or was she just not even looking? My mind boggles. And these vets - never letting a look of incredulity cross their faces in front of their clients - they are truly admirable.

Yup. If people don’t know about the high maintenance, especially grooming, then they should consider a different species, or animal. If they do, that’s terrible! I understand if it’s hard to find a groomer, but it’s worth it! If not, you dog could end up like that poor puppo! Especially if they knew about it, it makes it worse. as others have said, not all groomers are good. yes some are great and make sure they do everything they can for the dog, but some will neglect the ears, etc. one of the youtubers I watch is a groomer, and has said people have brought their dogs to her because the last groomer didn't do something.

I found a teeny bump in my dogs mouth a few millimeters in size today and I am getting her in to the vet TOMORROW. I check her over everywhere every couple of days. I'm so glad Lulu's case was an easy fix. My pup started having sneezing fits and I dismissed it as allergies from recently moving to a new place. A year later she was still having the fits and reverse sneezing and her belly was growing but she wasn't getting "fat." Finally took her in, it was cancer and it had spread throughout her whole body :( I kick myself for not bringing her in sooner but the vet promises me it had been there for likely almost her whole life (10 years) and bringing her in even 1 year earlier wouldn't have changed the outcome. So glad this wasn't Lulu's outcome.

a similar thing happened to us. our cat was gagging/wheezing, and we thought he was just bringing up fur balls and sounded a bit funky, but nothing overly weird tho. but it kept going and our other cat seemed almost worried as well. eventually, after about a month or two, we took him to get an x ray (later than i would’ve liked, but other people made that decision), and we found one lung fully white (they’re meant to be black) and the other beginning to be consumed by the same thing. we don’t know what it was, the vets thought it was bad asthma but treatment did nothing. then one night, only a couple after the asthma diagnosis it got incredibly bad, he couldn’t walk, uneven pupils etc, and we had to put him down. i don’t think anyone forgave themselves for letting him go unnoticed for that long. he was only four as well :(

We have a problem with my dogs kind of similar to that. One of my dogs, to show affection to his brother licks his ears, as a result my other dog tends to get ear infections from the moisture he leaves. If we catch him, we stop him and dry it, but obviously we can’t catch him every time. The vet said it is definitely a sign of affection but it can be harmful because the moisture. So we have to wash my other dog’s ears pretty regularly to make sure no infection is getting in there.

With the issues going usually with his breed he may still be in danger. Anyone heared his grunting and snoring? Can be because of the swelling from the surgery, but French bulldogs with short snouts like Winstons are generally serious danger of respiratory issues and overheating/Suffocation. Comes with the breed, same for Pugs and english Bulldogs. My vet is raging frequently about this irresponsible breeding, even within the kennel clubs. Hopefully little Winston wont have to see a vet because of this Problems one day

It is dangerous, and animals need to be kept out of areas where food is prepped. I don't let any of my cats or dogs in the kitchen when I'm cooking. We have a large outside run, and I put them all out there and put in the plastic so they can't come back through the doggie door. They don't come back in till our mealtime is finished. I'm sure training would help, but if something is irresistible, they'll go for it. (Jan Griffiths).

@@douglasgriffiths3534 training is not something they are doing with that dog, he’s jumping up on her and the kids both young enough he can knock them over which might be why the boy held back while dog was greeting mom and his sister; who also back off after dog jumped on her; and that’s with mother (trying) to hold dog down from jumping all over her. Excited to see family only counts for so much: that ‘puppy’ (one year old should be trained better at least minimum of Down to protect kids) was totally untrained and mother looked someone trying to ride a bull … and losing.

It always amazes me when I hear owners say their dogs have eaten furniture. I’ve never had dogs eat my furniture or walls or doors or siding. I caught my Anna as a young puppy try to chew the coffee table but I caught her away and told her “no” “leave it” and sprayed with bitter yuck and never again. I think destruction like that is a bored dog or a dog with anxiety of some sort. My girls will steal underwear and socks though lol as gross as it sounds with underwear. They steal them out of the laundry baskets so I spray with a bitter yuck to mask my smell to keep them out of it. But they don’t chew anything else of clothes, no furniture or house bones of walls and stuff. They have plenty of toys and chews, spring poles, cardboard (they love playing and destroying cardboard, so I give them some of their own to play with), a swimming pool in the warmer months, they dig holes, play with each other all day between naps.

Owners are often anxious about taking their animals to the vet and bad breath could just be associated with plaque buildup on the teeth. 6 weeks is a long time but it’s not the worst thing I’ve seen, even in the last month

I have to admit as a once surgical tech I freaked out that there wasn't suction for the smoke when they started the wart removal. I then looked it up & read that it's species specific so can't be transferred from dog to human. There was very strict rules around wart removal through cautery because a doctor who'd worked at the hospital I was at wasn't careful & inhaled the spores. He got warts down his throat & into his lungs eventually killing him.

I just saw the part with Rocket, and it’s bringing back some memories of mine. I had a puppy named Benson. He had this disease that would make him vomit a lot, and whenever he vomited, he has a chance of getting pneumonia. In April of 2021 however.. he got really sick and.. He didn’t make it. He only lived for 8 *months.*

To anyone wondering why the calf was taken away from mom so soon, it really is more for the benefit of mom and calf than you think it is. Beef calves usually stay with mom until about 6 months of age, then they're usually sent to a feedlot to be fattened up and then sent away to be made into beef. Dairy cattle live way different though. Farmers originally let calves stay with the mom after it was born, but a lot of calves got sick and died because the mom wasn't taking care of it properly, the calf would ingest the moms feces, and some didn't even produce the colostrum needed for the calf to grow strong and healthy. Moms even got anxious and would often trample the young calf and kill it, or the other adult cows would. Because of the farmers learning this, over the years we have separated dairy cattle from their babies both for the health of mom and calf and just took care of them ourselves and bottle-reared them. It varies from farm to farm, but most usually allow mother and calf to spend some time for the mom to lick it off and stimulate it to get moving around. As for the mom being confused, initially, yes because of hormones. But once those hormones subside and mom gets back into her own routine, she completely forgets about the calf and doesn't miss it at all. It depends on the cow, but usually it is all hormones. We have to stop forcing our human emotions and beliefs on these animals, because that isn't always how it works. Trust that these farmers know what they are doing, and that most of the time they do it for the better of the animal and whatever babies they deliver.

At least on US farms, the calves stay with the mothers for quite a bit. Then they’re put in a ‘nursery’ . They don’t drink that much so I don’t understand why they need to take them away in Australia.

As far as I'm aware they don't either but I think it has to do with the type of cow, certain cows from around the world have different characteristics. Most cows in hot places don't produce as much milk, but I'm not really a cow expert so I'm bot sure

Mothers are often separated to avoid hurting the calf or the calf hurting her. Calves will suck and chew on anything for comfort and it is VERY common for the mother's teats to become infected because they'll mouth them obsessively and it can get ugly (as in amputation ugly). It's also not uncommon for a calf to get kicked or accidentally killed by the Mom. I assure you, these farmers/ranchers have experience in all of this. Each makes their own decisions that work best for them and I assure you they care deeply about their animals. Happy cows produce the most milk and the highest quality milk. People who have never been around farm animals often anthropomorphize (Apply human traits) them or apply traits that just don't exist in cows. It frustrates me as someone who HAS worked with these animals how many people opine over how 'abusive' or 'bad' something is when in reality it really isn't. It's just ignornace. =/

A month or 2 back, I was a part of 7 people pulling out a massive calf that was a twin and the second one of that. Positioned wrong and it took an hour pulling it out with 7 people including a vet… sadly the calf was stillborn just like it’s twin earlier. This first clip makes me so happy to watch and I’m glad it’s very rare that it goes the way it did.

We had a labrador that was obsessed with underpants and socks. They are sneaky and if you don't hear them for 5 minutes it's like a child. You go looking for what they got in to. My grandparents have a huge property and had collies and I can also say that they are notorious chewers. They need a huge amount of exercise and you need like 6 pairs of eyes to keep them from chewing stuff.

My almost 2 year old cattahoula pup is the same way; if I go anywhere, I have to talk her out from under the bed (as soon as I start putting shoes or coat on she hops under the bed) & put her in the kennel.... otherwise she'll eat anything and everything she can get ahold of, including sheets and blankets on the dang bed).🙄🥺🙄
