The friendly Vice President is a world famous epidemiologist. He used to be the Vice president of the Academia Sinica (aka Taiwanese National Academy of Sciences), the Minister of Science, and the Minister of Health and Welfare. (Thanks to the correction by Autumn C)
@malamuteinSF5 жыл бұрын
RB I would use “world famous epidemiologist” or “well-known scholar” to describe the Dr. Chen, the Vice President, instead of “academician”.

Amanda Sparkle Actually these are the Honour Guards of the Republic of China (Taiwan) Armed Forces (Traditional Chinese: 中華民國國軍三軍儀仗隊). They have inherited mostly the US style training. When they are out of uniform they just like us. That is why. I hope my answer helps.

kzbin.info/www/bejne/l57clHmpibCBoc0 This is a KZbin channel where they film the life of Military Police (MPs) working in the presidential hall. It is a very popular online channel where the host(s) get to taste the life of different professions in Taiwan. At the end, you will see the real president talking to them. You can see the real MPs.

awww lucky. why do you call it the presidential office building. I thought it's called the presidential palace?
@n00btype5 жыл бұрын
It's probably because direct translation of "palace" is 宮 in Chinese. Since we use 總統府 instead of 總統宮 , the official English name we use is Presidential Office Building.

Do you understand what is the meaning of "Duty Room"? Duty room is a room for standby security guards. So, do you became mercenaries of Taiwanese president.
@Allaluca5 жыл бұрын
You honestly think guards on standby sleep in those rooms? LOL. My guess is that they just gave it a fun name for these foreign guests, coz room for guards definitely doesn't look like that.
@鄭宗元-b2d5 жыл бұрын
@@Allaluca You do not understand foreign social rules. However you have large homeland and plenty of natural resources. Why don't you just stay at your home and enjoy your life. Trying to stick your nose into Asia affairs will cost you many assets.

@@鄭宗元-b2d Why did you assume I was a foreigner? Just because I commented in English? LOL. I'm actually Taiwanese, so how about you mind your own country's business and stop sticking your nose into *MY COUNTRY'S* affairs??!!

You are overthinking it. In a English speaking country Taiwan and R.O.C. is very much interchangeable. People use Taiwan more simply because it just rolls of the tongue better. No different than people referring to the President of the United States of America simply as the President of America despite it is technically incorrect term (just like Taiwan is incorrect term). Now if we are a Chinese speaking country, then yes your concern about the green party tries to erase R.O.C. is valid.
