So many of these KZbin knife reviews are some guy sitting in a nicely lit studio talking to a camera. Thank you for making content that is not only way more fun and interesting...but also using the knives in ways that truly test them. Not just cutting paper in a studio. Glad I found this channel.

Facts. I’m so tired of seeing Taylor Martin or Metal Complex trying to give reviews when they literally don’t use their knives. They have knives they call “safe queens “ 😂. And their excuse for not using their knives is “use the right tool for the right job “ which in their mind a knife is only supposed to be used to cut tape 😂

Really interesting KZbin. Your comment about a potential change to the heat treatment is what I was thinking. Then you mentioned a change to the blade geometry. Initially, when ESEE began making this in S35VN, they asserted that it was harder to sharpen and more brittle ... or at least that's what I took away from it. They thought of the S35VN version as a gimmick. From this KZbin, the adjustments they've obviously made have really resulted in improvements. Any insights into what they've actually done and how to identify one of these superior ESEE 4's would be appreciated.

Ability of a knife to scape sparks from a firesteel is of minimal consideration, at best. If you have a firesteel, you ought to also have a dedicated scraper to go along with it, most likely on a cord attached to the handle of the firesteel itself. If you're in a true emergency and NEED to use a firesteel to stay alive, using the blade of the knife to start a fire to survive is not going to be a measured concern.
