I use 30-year old Accuform bladed irons. They are tiny and they remain the best golf clubs I have ever used to hit a ball. After all these years you can still feel the quote knife going through butter softness. It feels like the ball melts into the club face before reaching it's target. These clubs are absolutely astounding, and it's a shame they are no longer around. I can't remember who, but a prominent tour player swears to this day that Accuform irons were the best clubs he ever used. p.s. Obviously you need to know how to swing a club, but if you do, try to get your hands on Accuform irons. I would love to get your feedback.

I've always wondered about that....your idea of using a tiny, zero forgiveness blade set just for practice. It sounds like a great idea! When I was a young Junior Golfer in the 90's, I used an old set of Faultless Lee Trevino blades until I was 16 and had saved up enough money to get Ping Eye II's. I really believe my ball striking was much better back then, with the old blades. I do know that it was around that time that my improving seemed to slow down and then at age 18 it stopped. I'm not certain if the switch from demanding blades, to perimeter weighted offset clubs was the culprit, but I've always wondered???

And the biggest differens is a hotter face, thus meaning that generally game-improvement irons create a faster ball speed. Missing the sweedspot yields about the same loff of energy about 10%... So you really don't miss a lot of distance compared to a perfect hit. I know a lot of people who believes the nonsense that you need to be some kind of pro to play them... Even pros believe it... is it me or do blades not look intimidating but more like “i can’t wait to pure this”
@Maj0rFloater3 жыл бұрын
I have been playing blades for 12 years and even though my handicap (8ish, high 70s low 80s guy) would suggest I am punching up with blades, I love what they offer. They force me to focus on ball striking and you could even make the argument that I might end up saving a stroke or two a round if I played mids, but I just love the feel and the look. I will play them until my swing speeds stop allowing me to.
@dylanharrington7443 жыл бұрын
When you have played with Blades, most other clubs don't come close on feel. There's nothing that gives you better feedback than a poorly hit bladed 3 iron on a freezing cold Day.

I have a Mizuno 4i blade and the cobra utility 4i - I'm more confident with the Mizuno. I know when I've hit a bad shot right away with the blade; whereas, with the utility I have no idea until the ball lands if I hit it the way I wanted. Also, a great shot that feels bad isn't a great shot!

Same my old man bought me a set of blades when I was young they were my first full size set and I still own them to this day ive added an old super thin mizuno 1 iron for off the tee if I'm into wind and I've never had a problem hitting them or looked down at them and been scared of mis hits if I get hold of a cavity back they look massive and fill me with no confidence so for me its the opposite.

I'm 63 and grew up with these beautiful butter knifes. (Wilson-Staffs). You kept missing left, because you had the toe closed (very slightly). Correct that and you will be on target. But the way Ricky has been playing lately he can't hit them either. Well done!

Rick, scratch golfers years ago playing blades, e.g., Wilson Staff Dyna-Power, would have wear marks about the size of a quarter not in the middle of the face but closer to the hosel. The sweet spot on blades is actually closer to the hosel for the lack of perimeter weighting. Give it another go and try to keep that fact in mind. Great VDO - Their looks are righteous.
