World's Smallest Rugged 4G Android Phone! Unihertz Atom

I've used an Atom (a sister product, same screen size) as my main phone for a year - absolutely love it. I use calls, text, whatsapp and in a pinch gmail. It's a great minimalist phone and that's the point for me, I kind of hate smart phones, the way you're constantly distracted and interrupted, but I can't use a feature phone because I really need whatsapp. So I use this as my phone and also have a tablet so I can do all of the social media stuff when at home but I'm not carrying all those distractions with me all the time.

I can see this as a backup phone for travel especially for countries that don't have any sort of roaming plan with your carrier or maybe a primary phone if you are trying to go "minimalist" though having full android O may not help with that, but having to use an app that you have grown accustomed to on a large phablet type screen and switching to one smaller than the iPhone 4 may help limit your screen time.

I really enjoyed mine for the 7 weeks I had it. Minimal use and outer shell started to peel. Many people have reported same issue

Great phone! Beautiful cats😀. I have the old Unihertz Jelly Pro and love it. I might upgrade to this one but I want a micro SD card slot, like the 3g ram.32gb version.

Just got my Atom and I love it. I'm tired of carrying a tablet in my pocket. It's great with Google Assistant voice commands so you don't have to type so much. It's a phone for people like me that use a phone as a phone and don't do a lot of social media with it. It works better with Android Auto than my Samsung did. I suspect that's because it's a real Android phone that Verizon hasn't corrupted the OS on.

Hey ! I'm on the fence about buying an Atom and it would be, like you it seems, to use it in conjunction with a tablet. So are you still using it ? Das it a good pair, tablet+atom?

@@c.m.7692 This was truly a great little android phone but it had some limitations. The Android version didn't match up with everything including some issues with Android Auto in my Honda Ridgeline. The biggest issue was wearability. The plastic case litteraly peeled away from the phone after about 12 months. I tried to glue it back on but it just wouldn't hold. I was so disappointed. I gave up on it and went back to a Samsung A52 5G.

@@ansientwun Thank you veryvery much for your reply! Yeah the peeling issue really is concerning. Especially since it seems to happen riiiight around the end of the 1 year warranty... I have sent an email to unihertz about it and see if new batches have an updated rubber or glue.

If I were testing a PHONE, I think I'd have made a PHONE CALL with it; not to mention an SMS. An antenna/reception evaluation is also called for---as in taking it into the depths of a big building, hospital, etc. and reporting on its reception/signal strength/antenna capability. Also, on which US carriers will it work?

Thanks for the review. I just ordered this phone today. I am not a fan of big flashy phones plus Im older and trying to get away from social media. I hope I won't regret getting it. But at least I won't be out of a lot of money if it doesn't work out. It was between the atom, the Jelly or the one Unihertz that is similiar to an old school Blackberry. Wouldn't it be great to have a Blackberry again! I will definitely watch for your reviews. You were very informative!

Try Pentikeyboard. That's all I've been using to type since December 2019! Of course if we want to type, play games, and make music on even smaller screens, then somebody should develop a shorthand gesture input for Android.

Vor einem Monat habe ich ein Unihertz Pro-Telefon bestellt, weil ich ein kleines Telefon haben wollte. Im Prinzip hat mir das Telefon gefallen, aber von Anfang an gab es Probleme mit WLAN 5 Hz, dann passierte nichts. WLAN 5 Hz funktionierte nicht. Ich musste das Telefon zurückgeben. Ich bestellte es Unihertz Atom und dort dass das telefon zuerst versucht, auf wifi 5 Hz umzuschalten dauert es 05-10 minuten, dann verbindet es sich für kurze zeit mit wifi 2.4hz, aber dann wiederholt sich alles. Ich kann nicht nur keine Wi-Fi-Verbindung verwenden - all diese Versuche belasten den Akku, können Programmierer diesen Fehler wirklich nicht beheben? Ich habe acht weitere Telefone von verschiedenen Firmen zu Hause, aber sie funktionieren alle ohne Beschwerden. Ich mag das Telefon. Ich würde es gerne verlassen, aber ich kann ein solches Problem nicht ertragen. zu wichtige Funktion für den normalen Betrieb des Telefons !!! kannst du etwas tun
