Also a great encourager with a great eye for athletic talent - as he saw straight away Eddie's ability as a really high level athlete and predicted he would beat all his guys! Which is exactly what happened, and he was also encouraging and complimentary towards Eddie which you can see inspired Eddie even more to want to compete at the World Champs. Hope it happens 😎

The crazy thing is that World Strongest Man use to have Sumo, but was replace by pole pushing. I suspect they might have remove it to reduce injury, and reduce tension between competitor. I hope Eddie do give it a go. Considering that Bryan Shaw retire from Strongman, Eddie should call him up to come do it too.

Never thought Eddie Hall and sumo would pair so well together. The base from strongman put him at an awesome level without ever competing in it, imagine if Eddie had some training how far he could have gone in sumo (obviously he is no longer in his prime, he has dedicated his life to strongman, but I see him doing some damage in the sumo world).

I vehemently disagree, I've watched every match for 9 bouts spanning 18 months and the sheer power, speed and control the top brass of Sumo puts into their opponents is no joke. If you told me a Sumo wrestler pushed a truck (4 wheeler not 18 wheeler) aside because it was in the way, i'd believe you. Don't even need to mention which. Aside from Enho Akira I'm sure most professional wrestlers could do it. And Enho can't because he's only 215 lbs and still wins from guys 3 times that weight and a foot taller than him. I want to add because I was incredibly hyped during it, but I watched Terunofuji achieve the highest rank in Sumo live, and man that was truly a match between titans. He went 11-1 for his matches and lost the last to the 69th yokozuna, Hakuho Sho, who's considered the greatest of all time @64366

Strongman is literally the best possible crossover sport to do before getting into sumo. Both are all about moving massive, unstable weights with balance and speed. If he wants it, I don't see anything keeping him from attaining incredible results in sumo. Well....almost anything, there is a kind of super-traditionalist/borderline nationalist element to sumo leagues, but I think that's been improving in the last couple decades.

Competitions for Japan's sumo are tough it can be as difficult as him attaining the world's strongest title. So it would be really interesting if he tried it out. No layman has ever attempted this beside a few influencer meeting retired japanese sumo wrestlers. We've seen MMA face a sumo before but not someone who is active at the Makunouchi division which is a whole another lvl. Right now Eddie just looks like his facing beginners as even their technique seems pretty rough and they are also pretty light if you compare it to the general Japan's sumo stables.

Watching this has given me so much respect for sumo wrestlers, I didn’t know much before, but this really did a good job on showing how intense it is.

They really are amazing athletes. They have to make strategy adjustments on-the-fly in a split-second while trying to keep their opponents from doing the same thing. Most of the bouts end in a matter of seconds, but they are INTENSE seconds. There are several sumo channels on KZbin that play the highlights from the great bashos (tournaments) in Japan; check them out.

I honestly think Eddie should make this his next career move, he truly is built for Sumo. Low center of gravity, strong, adaptable, quick thinking and competitive. Hell, he proved that here, and these guys weren't fuckin' around. It was all jokes and laughs before and after, but during the competition these guys got just as serious as they would be competing in the championships. And Eddie not only held his own against _champions,_ but he fuckin' won first place. Hell yeah I'd love to see him in Japan, I seriously think he could go all the way.
