Massive respect to all the branches of Norwegian Military for giving Magnus the opportunity to venture into their work and letting viewers around the world to see.

These are the professional units, so they don't just get conscripts by default like the rest of the normal millitary units in Norway, but have to get volunteers of sufficient motivation and fitness level to sign up. So to the military this is advertisement to appeal to those people to volunteer. That is why they let Magnus do this, because it is free advertisement for them. Really they should pay Magnus for the ad content just like any other advertisement agency, but i guess Magnus gets enough money from the KZbin exposure to make it worth while any way.

Reason why SWAT and special forces units hold hands on each other's shoulders when entering rooms is precisely this. Your brain's natural instinct is to back out from danger, but in order to neutralize it you really have to make a quick and overwhelming entry. So someone literally has to push you in to danger when your natural instincts tell you otherwise.

What I respect about magnus is how seriously he takes all of these situations, its also likely one of the big reasons they allow him to participate. Most youtube content creators always try to make things like these seem "fun", laughing and giggling in every scenario. Im talking mostly about the training scenarios, he's attentive and fully engaged in the topic. Also I'm not saying its bad to laugh sometimes, or to have fun. But constantly doing it is just a sign of immaturity. Magnus is there like he is being recruited, its a lot more of a showcase of what goes on in the coastal ranger commando and less of a content-oriented "fun" trip to a normally serious profession. And I love that.
@WaechterDerNacht Жыл бұрын
I was a seargeant in the swiss army, which is a militia. When we did things with scenarios, we could see that it is very personality dependent if someone can get into the head space and take it serious or if someone just can't do that. Large part to that is also how it looks. If someone has to play through a scenario looking at a cardboard on a stick, it's way harder to do that instead of doing it with either clothed dummies or even in two teams, blanks and gear that tells you if you're hit or not. Same for firefighting exercises: if you can just make a room dark and fill it with disco smoke it makes a huge difference to putting a sign on the door frame so you see what should be inside when entering.

nervousness ("healthy level") is effective in the process of initiate action. It is a state of mind who psychologically forces your energy and action outwards. Just like fear the secret is being aware and having it under control. As former military with decades on solo missions in the middle east, russia and elsewhere (civilian) I do not put much "emotions" into my Fears. Maybe it sounds counter intuitive, but with experience you learn how to compartmentalize part of your own psyche and emotions. Borderline schizophrenic you might say, but the best way for survival and keeping your head clear. Doing solo stuff in hairy situations you only have yourself to relay on. Even our mighty Lord would agree with me on that :) Cheers and Happy New Year !

While the Scandinavian education system is really good and progressive, this probably has a lot to do with Norway being part of NATO as well. @@Nitidus not really. Non-military speak about the same level as seen in this video here. Might be different with some older people, though. i love how magnus adapts to the cqb. by the end of the video he has a nice c clamp grip on his rifle and he’s moving tactically it’s awesome to watch the progression

I'm not a climber, but I was in the military so I guess that's why KZbin suggested the channel, loved all of them. Magnus does a great job of getting stuck in and being really professional too, great content. The dog was badass too.

I think this is the coolest series you've done yet and that is saying something. Not only is the content awesome, but the camera angles, editing, and music are so immersive. Plus the gorgeous location. AND a good puppy to top it all off. Perfect

Magnus, your ability to access and provide us glimpses of exclusive and highly restricted corners of the world is unrivaled. It's uncanny how seamlessly you fit into any environment -- this resembles more of a 'day in the life' rather than 'guest trainee' video (that slight jump at 17:50 was the most obvious sign that you may not be a combat-tested Spec Ops soldier, and it wasn't that obvious). The production value is top-notch as always. Astounding. Also, 10:04 that CS:GO clip looks so realistic (haha)

Magnus,if you read this great,if not oh well...but as a person who practices or at least studies hand to hand combat every single day and teaches as well I have to say you have got a giant set on you man. The stuff you went through on this and multiple other videos is seriously difficult and dangerous and although I'm sure you were frightened (if not you are stupid) you gave max effort,like you are known for and it is seriously truly impressive. Thank you for the phenomenal content you continue to provide!!!

Great video, I like how you don't ruin the vibe and the moment with too much talking, you keep it for the pauses and breaks, great stuff, it felt better than watching a documentary for me. Hope this grows more.

There were so many times where I thought, "The Sergent is going to yell at him for clearing corners incorrectly.", but I'm glad they just let him enjoy the experience. This was a great video.

Agreed. I had some ptsd about those corners
@oriskany5966 Жыл бұрын
Yelling is definitely not part of the curriculum on these levels. It's like the SAS and SBS. They explain what to do and allows you to execute to the best of your ability, and take notes accordingly. That's all it takes.

I like how the title of this more documentary like video is focused on the unit instead of "I" tried, competed, etc... It shows respect for the opportunity and their dangerous work. Big props and thanks to everyone involved putting this together and of course Magnus for taking the training/tests seriously to ensure we get to see this.
