Reminds me of how dangerous steam leaks were on naval vessels. A high pressure steam leak would cut like a knife. So the engineers couldn't feel for it, couldn't hear it because engine room, and couldn't see it because steam in an enclosed compartment. So they would have to carefully walk around the compartments waving brooms over the boilers and pipes, watching for the broom straws getting sliced off by an invisible blade. I heard about this from my grandfather. Obviously shutting down the boilers to look for the leak in the Pacific in 1945 was not an option.
