Zoomer Waffen the better question is why does Gajin have a rocket interceptor labeled as a jet. Don’t complain about the 163 balance it’s in the same situation as the maus, in a down teir it clubs everyone, in an up teir it gets raped, don’t complain about veichles like this because gajin is to lazy to decompress br and will just remove them instead. All you German players were so unhappy with the mouse you forced gajin to remove it.

Well, the PO-2 is made almost entirely of canvas and wood. Modern radars could track it, but missiles could very well have an issue locking on from any further than basically point blank. PO-2 stealth bomber confirmed.

The reason the ammo is stored over the fuel tank is that in combat the fuel tanks are empty. It never engaged under power, it always climbed above it's targets, attacked in a gliding dive, and would glide from the engagement back to its base.

Yes I love the history to this aircraft. I have a really great book that outlines the history of the plane, and those who flew it. Real great. First manned aircraft to reach speeds over 1000 Km/h in level flight. And it held this record for over a decade.

As I recall the Me-163 is powered by, as you said, a bipropellant liquid fuel rocket engine. The two fuels were called "T-Stoff" and "C-Stoff:" T-Stoff was a sort of hydrogen peroxide mixture used as the oxidizer while C-Stoff was a mix of methanol, water, and everyone's favorite carcinogen-cum-rocket propellant, hydrazine. Of note is that the two substances combined are "hypergolic" which means they'll self-ignite upon being mixed even at room temperature. Of even better note is that they look nearly the exact same. Thus, even slight cross contamination means a very big kaboom. This thing was a death trap.

I don't know the exact details and such, I think Scott Manley might have a video on it. Anyways, the Me 163 uses something called (liquid) hypergolic propellants. This means that the fuel is very reactive and doesn't need fancy ignition systems and such. However, it's very carcinogenic, can explode at the slightest mistake, and you'd be dead if even a small amount got on you because it's so toxic. It wasn't the best fuel choice, but it worked for it's intended purpose to make this rocket engine work.

It's called a hypergolic liquid rocket engine. It uses fuels that, as you said, spontanously egnite when comming into contact, making liquid oxygen and a complicated engine start sequenz no longer neccesarry. They were also used for example as the Space Shuttles maneuvering thrusters, since they had to be fired more than once, and restarting a conventional liquid fuel engine is quite difficult. Phly, I didn’t do proper research but I believe the engines are hypergolic. The two chemicals, hydrazine and another chemical of choice, are fed into a combustion chamber where they explode on contact. This is very corrosive and toxic like you said but it allows for fine tuned throttle control.

I have had my most successful matches with the 163 by gaining altitude and just zooming through with a few burst and continuing on through. Like you said the "vulture strategy" works the best.
