World War I - The Great War (1914-1918)

World War I (WWI or WW1), also known as the First World War or the Great War, was a global war centered in Europe that began on 28 July 1914 and lasted until 11 November 1918. More than 9 million combatants and 7 million civilians died as a result of the war, a casualty rate exacerbated by the belligerents' technological and industrial sophistication, and tactical stalemate. It was one of the deadliest conflicts in history, paving the way for major political changes, including revolutions in many of the nations involved.

Nonetheless you can imagine how it was easy for WWI German vets to believe the "stab in the back" propaganda. All the territory they had won in the East during 1918 is virtually the same amount they conquered in 1939 against Poland and then in 1941 during Operation Barbarossa.

They didn't really dominate, Russian empire fell into civil war, which was a pretty lucky occurance for the Central powers and then they gained a bunch of land cus of it. But they were never in a leading position in this war... In world war 2, germany had a true leading position for a few years, but not in this one. A whole empire couldn't even defeat serbia..it was bulgaria who did the job. Actually i think without bulgaria this war would've been a lot easier for the allies. 2 sick empires and germany, meaning just germany vs the allies.

Bulgaria allowed German reinforcements to get to Turkey when they were defeated at Sarikamish and Erzurum. But because Bulgaria signed an armistice, reinforcements and resources couldn’t come through to Ottoman Empire, that they later signed an armistice because of the sheer amount of tactical losses on the field.

From what i read, in November 1918, they had about 184 divisions on the frontline and 17 in reserve and the allies had 205 divisions on the frontline and 103 in reserve.

Little mistake: Republic of Turkey was not created after the Treaty of Sevres was signed by the Ottoman Empire, instead Turkish war of independence happened and borders of turkey were finalised in Treaty of Lausanne in July 1923.

Very good quality video, I like this presentation of how it was done, but there are small mistakes in this video one of them in the introductory video Garvilo Princip was a Serbian nationalist, he was a member of an organization called the Mlada Bosna inside Bosnia and Herzegovina. Gavrilo Princip carried out the assassination of Franz Ferdinand on 28 June 1914 not 28 July. July 28 1914, Astro-Hungary declares the war to Serbia because of the refusal of the ultimatum sent by Astro-Hungaria. Young Bosnia was a separatist organization and not a terrorist organization the goal of the movement was to fight the occupation policy Austro-Hungarian, and striving to unite with the then Kingdom of Serbia..
